There was much excitement in my household when this arrived, so much that my 10 and 13 year old boys made me wait to open it until a weekend when they were home. It's very cool looking, and completely recognizable as the Millennium Falcon, complete with Han and Chewy in the cockpit. There's a very minor bit of assembly that was intuitive. It's made of Styrofoam, which surprised me, but makes sense since it's going to fly, and is nice when you crash it into the television. The Styrofoam is very sturdy - the picture here is an "after" picture and the poor Falcon had taken a battering from my steering. It's not really a Drone, it's an RC flier with four props. The controls are reminiscent of any other Air Hogs controller. The remote requires 4 AA batteries which are not included (I can't help but think that for the price they could throw in some batteries). The Falcon charges with an included AC adapter. The instructions are largely pictures, and I would prefer there were more explanations. I've got to correct some "yaw" (according to my husband) and I'm not quite getting it - yet. That said, it's definitely an outdoor toy. It's just too big to fly inside, but its been windy and I did it anyway. We did get it up and crashing into walls, scaring the dog, and chasing a boy or two. The charge lasted about 12 minutes, but my having to stop and restart a lot may have had something to do with that. I have already forbidden my boys to play with it until I master it. Right now my inner geek is pretty thrilled. I think this is a lot of fun, despite the learning curve (experienced fliers may have an easier time) and a neat idea for Star Wars fans. It is not and out-of-the-box toy, and may frustrate young or inexperienced fliers.

We were so excited to get this. My husband and all my kids could barely wait to take it out and try it. The packaging was impressive and easy to open and remove the drone. The plastic protectors were simple to put on. Out of the box the drone will need charged for at least an hour and 4 AA batteries are needed to work the remote. The remote was really cool, but complicated to use. One of the more useful features is that it tells you the battery life of both the remote and the drone. It has a lot of buttons for how to correct the flight pattern and the instructions were more clear on how to do this but not clear on how to get the drone started which is pretty important. Overall they could have been better and more detailed. The drone itself is made out of a styrofoam material which makes it seem cheap but the styrofoam could be seen as an advantage because when it hits the ground it doesn't crack as easily as plastic and most likely wont do as much damage when it gets flown into the house (which it did--several times). It is a screen accurate representation of the Millennium Falcon or so I am told by my Star Wars loving family. Flying this thing was an interesting experience. First there was trying to get it to fly which took us a good 15 minutes until a nice accidental flip of the switch flew it sidewards into my daughters chair causing some slight screaming. Once we figured out the starting it gaining control was a bit more complicated. We flew it preciously how Finn flew it in the Force Awakens-- like it had a herd of cattle strapped to the back of it. It was kind of all over the place much to our neighbors amusement and our dog's dismay. Because it is so light the slightest puff of the wind sends if off into the neighbor's fenced in yard while they aren't home and their dog barks at the invader landing in its territory and because once it falls sidewards it needs reset its kind of stuck there until you can fish it out with a stick or the neighbors come home and report your unlicensed drone to proper authorities. That kind of ends the fun adventure. Use this as a cautionary tale -- inexperienced pilots may or may not experience some rough bumps, but with some time they may be able to get it off the ground and not into other people's territory therefore ending their fun and making their neighbors hate them. It is definitely not an out of the box and fly it expertly kind of toy.

Collector'S item ONLY - not worth it as a toy

Comments about Spin Master 1001130 Air Hogs Star Wars Remote Control Millennium Falcon XL Flying Drone - 2.4 GHz White:

The first one we purchased would not pair at all with the remote, so it was impossible to fly. After a rather inconvenient return process, we exchanged for a new one. It will pair and fly, but the remote looses contact periodically (even when the drone is within 5 ft of it), so the drone will continually drift upward. If you fly it outside, you won't have it for very long. It will fly away.

Not enough power to fly

Poor power to weight ratio. Does not lift off or fly well. The smaller Millennium Falcon they sell is fantastic though - buy that one instead.

This was a gift from my Twin Sister. The construction is perfect. It's light weight which minimizes the chance of damage during crashes. However, flying it outside is not advised. I LOVE IT

Lots of fun!

Comments about Spin Master 1001130 Air Hogs Star Wars Remote Control Millennium Falcon XL Flying Drone - 2.4 GHz White:

I was super excited to get this drone. Right out of the box one headlight was out and one light on the controller. You only have to add the plastic propeller covers to assemble. It was easy to figure out which one went where. The ship is made of styrofoam but is surprisingly durable. It is also really large which makes it easy to keep track of and attracts a lot of attention. I first tried to fly it in my living room just to get a feel for it but it would not take off on the carpet. I then went out to the driveway and it went up with no problem. It is a bit challenging to get it any higher than about 8 feet in the air and I also found it difficult to maneuver where I wanted it to go. The directions really aren't much help either. The sound effects are cool if you have kids which I do. I would not recommend this for anyone under 14. The propeller covers constantly fall out when you land the drone, I added a little super glue around the edge of each cover to keep them from falling out constantly. The battery life is awful. It comes with a charger to charge the drone and the controller runs on regular AA batteries. I was lucky if I got 15 minutes fly time before it needed charged again. I live near a college campus so I also took it to the football field on a slightly breezy day and it is almost impossible to fly it with any breeze, it continuously kept flipping over and flying wherever it wanted to. It did gain a lot of attention from people but it didn't last long because the battery needed charged again. I like the look of the drone and the idea but the fly time and complexity of trying to actually have it stay in the air is not what I expected.

Star Wars Fun

Comments about Spin Master 1001130 Air Hogs Star Wars Remote Control Millennium Falcon XL Flying Drone - 2.4 GHz White:

I think that the Air Hogs Star Wars Drone is actually a super idea. My 16 year old son and his friends have had a blast trying it out. The good points first- It's a large item, not sure I want to call it a toy, but is surprisingly lightweight. The height it can achieve is impressive. I love the details in the cockpit and the lights that actually light up. The bad points- It is sooo loud!!!! That is my main complaint with it. And because it is lightweight it is easily breakable. Over all I do like it and my kid and his friends really enjoyed it.

I really wanted to like this

By dhowe1215

Comments about Spin Master 1001130 Air Hogs Star Wars Remote Control Millennium Falcon XL Flying Drone - 2.4 GHz White:

I really wanted to like this when it arrived. The packaging alone will lead to a lot of sales, especially with a new Star Wars moving coming out this holiday season. I'm not very impressed with it though after spending some time trying to fly it. Han and Chewy look like they are ready to take on the empire, but they need to do a lot more work on the Falcon before they will be able to out-maneuver anything. This comes with a beginner and an advanced mode, and the lights and sounds are fun. The ship is very slow to respond when in beginner mode, and only slightly more responsive in advanced mode. It really wants to go backwards. You need to start off going forward right away if you want any chance of flying it for more than a few seconds. Once it starts backwards, it doesn't want to stop. I'll keep trying to master this, because it really does have some cool potential. At this point I worry that this will just end up hanging from the ceiling by a string as a fun decoration. It takes about an hour to charge, but the battery only lasts for about 10 minutes. I can finally get it to a point where it will fly somewhat forward, and then the battery dies. There are some instructions, but they are limited. The English and French instructions are printed onto one sheet of paper. More details would have been nice.

This thing is great! My kids and I had a blast flying this around together. The physical details are great (Han and Chewy in the cockpit) and the lights and sound effects were the icing on the cake! Definitely something that we will continue to entertain ourselves with. Word to the wise, you may need to calibrate (balance it) when you get it, but once thats done there's no stopping this thing!!
