Comments about Educational Insights Nancy B's Science Club Garbage To Gardens Compost Kit and Decomposition Book:

I adore science sets for my kids and the Nancy B's Science Club: Garbage to Gardens Compost Kit hits the mark! It's promoted for children ages eight years old and up but I feel that a child as young as five could also benefit. This kit gives children not just a hands-on approach to the beauty of composting but a see it for yourself view when conducting their own experiments.

The 22-page activity book has many experiments to conduct. It's packed full of places to jot down what's happening with the experiments done week by week, day by day, etc. There's a ton of information about how to compost, what will break down and what won't, the time span of things breaking down, bugs that are beneficial to this process, compost recipes, and so much more!

We have a big compost pile in our yard that we use when we plant our garden. The kids know stuff goes out there for the purpose of becoming rich soil but they never really knew the why, the how, and that what. I adore the fact that with this kit they are learning about life cycles and other environmentally important things!

The kit comes with a clear compost container with 2 compartments includes a removable divider, two 3x magnifiers, 2 write-on/wipe-off boards, and lid with air holes. The book is one use only when it comes to writing down results and things that go on with each activity. But you could either copy pages or write down results elsewhere if intending to use it for more than one child or student. I feel the kit is well thought out and good quality.

My nearly six-year-old son and my 8 1/2 year old daughter really liked this kit. They were excited they could see numerous items break down! My daughter told me many of the facts found through the book and couldn't believe how long some things take to break down. My family tries to make environmentally conscious choices when it comes to the products we use and throw out in our home but after using this kit we see we can do a lot more!

Comments about Educational Insights Nancy B's Science Club Garbage To Gardens Compost Kit and Decomposition Book:

My favorite part of this toy is how it teaches kids a real-life skill in a fun way. We should all be composting to help the environment and reduce trash. But this toy teaches kids WHY and HOW - they get to see the composting in action, take notes like a real scientist, and have an understanding of how their food returns to the earth. I think it has been very inspiring for our boys to see the process - we have always composted outside but to bring it indoors for observation really impressed upon them how we are helping our gardens with this natural process. Plus they LOVE dumping their leftovers into the container!
(I received this toy in exchange for my honest review).

This is by far the coolest way to teach composting to kids. Not only are they are part of the process, and really get to see, over time, how it works, they are the future and will think about Mother Earth. I love that it comes with a journal to keep track of what's happening, and that it's small enough to keep on the kitchen counter, but large enough to really get what's going on. Education toys like this are my favorite because not only are they learning, and experimenting, but making a the world a better place. I received a sample in exchange for a review all thoughts are my own.

If you want to find an entertaining and educational way to teach your kids about composting and why we compost, then you have to check this product out. You can also teach your kids why we try not to have certain products fill our landfill, because they just do not break down.
I love the Nancy B products. They are educational and a ton of fun. Best of all, you can do the experiment over and over again. It is not a one time use product like many science kits.
I recommend this product for home use and for schools.

I received this product in exchange for my honest opinion.

Comments about Educational Insights Nancy B's Science Club Garbage To Gardens Compost Kit and Decomposition Book:

This is another great Nancy B Science Club kit! My 9 year old daughter loved making her own compost. The duo chambers were great because we could do two experiments at once. We put some kitchen vegetable scraps on one side and a styrofoam cup in the other. This was a great way to demonstrate the importance of biodegradability! The steps were super easy to follow and I loved how you could get started right away. All I needed was some potting soil. I loved that the kit could be used over and over again. Just make sure to make copies of the observation booklet for future experiments. My 6 year was a little impatient and wished the decomposition process would go faster but it was fine for the 9 year old. My daughter can't wait to use her compost to plant the flower seedlings she had grown from seeds. She wants to compare how those seedlings grow in comparison to the seedlings that are planted without compost. Can't wait to see her findings!

My kids have enjoyed experimenting (and learning) with this compost kit. This kit comes with a plastic container with removable lid and a workbook. The container has a removable plastic divider making two compartments, allowing you to put in two different items or one big compartment. Remember to have soil on hand to start using the kit!

This is a really easy kit to use. Put the item(s) in, fill with soil, water, replace lid. Doesn't get much simpler than that! My son chose an apple core and a banana peel to observe first. The compost process is just beginning. He is already making lists of different items he would like to compost next.

The workbook has different activities to do, suggestions of items to compost, and science information that ties everything together.
