My son has poor motor control in his hands. We do a lot of occupational therapy to build his strength and also focus his placement of objects. As a therapy tool and a toy (well, just a toy to my son) this hit it out of the ballpark. You see, he loves to do ANYTHING that involves putting things together. If I'm putting together a bookcase, working on my car, fixing a chair, he's beside me with his play tools and eagerly wants to help in the whole process. He was so excited to put this together and build a car. The parts all work well and he enjoyed the drilling action. Best of all, in order to make the truck come together he really had to concentrate and work hard. He was very motivated. It's fun for him to put it together and take it apart. Of course, he loves to play pretend with the drill all over the house...and is a little disappointed it doesn't work on everything.

What I would say is taking off for one star is that it's a simple toy- my son is a young/immature four year old and it held his attentions really well, but after it was together (and apart, and together again) he said, "What else can we build on it?" I would like to see more parts/options to add pieces on the truck to give it more longevity. I mean can you imagine, having a whole slew of parts to add on? But for his age it still captured his attention and that of his friends when they came over to play.

My 4 year old son really loved designing and constructing this truck. It comes with a small drill that you are supposed to use to screw in the bolts and wheels, however, ours was never strong enough to truly get the job done despite changing the batteries twice. In the end it didn't matter because he liked the tool even though it didn't work and he just used his fingers to hand tighten the bolts and screws which works on his fine motor strength and hand strength more anyway. He still plays with this truck months after we received it and even with the drill being 'lost'.

I received this toy free of charge from Educational Insights for my honest reviewed opinion.

Comments about Educational Insights Design & Drill Power Play Vehicles - Monster Truck:

This is a great way to introduce kids to building a model car. The difference is, this is a car they can play with. The box comes with everything needed to build their own Monster Truck, including a power drill (you will need to use 3 batteries for drill). Kid will love using the use the motorized mini-drill to tighten the bolts and snap the vehicle together! They get a sense of pride for building the monster truck all on their own!

This Monster Truck will allow imaginations to run wild and the creative juices flow. kids can pretend they are a Monster truck show and jumping over crushed cars, take it outside and push over mounds of dirt and grass. The possibilities are endless! It is affordable, durable and an all around fun toy!

Comments about Educational Insights Design & Drill Power Play Vehicles - Monster Truck:

This one is very similar to the race car set except that it's a Monster Truck. It comes with everything needed to build their own Monster Truck, including the best part: the power drill!

The power drill is just like daddy's big drill only small and safe for the little ones. While Jax can press the button and make it go, he doesn't quite have the dexterity to use it in the proper way so he gets lots of help from mom and dad and his siblings. I think with a little more practice he'll be able to do it on his own. For now he likes to put the parts on himself and have us help him with the drill.

The bright, bold colors are perfect for kids to really attract attention to them. As a mom I wish the clear bolts had some color to them so they didn't disappear on my floor so easily but other than that, the colors are fantastic!

The snap on parts Jax can do himself and you can just see the pride on his face when he exclaims "I did it" after each part is attached. It's such a great confidence builder.

With a focus on STEM it works on their counting and matching skills as well as following patterns. Jax loves to put the tires on and pull them off and we count as he goes. He recently learned colors and now we've moved on to counting so this presents a learning opportunity for both.

The design and drill power play vehicles are a definite favorite in my house and even his older siblings love to put them together! They claim they are helping him but I know they are having just as much fun!

Our boys love monster trucks. This is their favorite monster truck toy yet! They love building the truck and getting to use the motorized mini drill and socket bit. We love that is teaching them about cars and instilling a love for building. They feel like big boys when they use tools like daddy. The price point is great on these! They will make excellent gifts for kids and for birthdays!

I bought this as a birthday present for my son and when we put the batteries into the drill nothing happened. He loves it though we just used the attachment to put it together. I would have preferred to have a working drill though. I will probably buy more things but I hope everything works next time.

Comments about Educational Insights Design & Drill Power Play Vehicles - Monster Truck:

My three-year-old was SUPER excited about this toy. Once we got everything pulled out and set up (the drill requires batteries, which are not included - no big deal for us, but info that might be helpful) he was a bit deflated because the drill button was too hard for him to push down on his own. His 5-year-old sister is usually pretty happy to sit and help him, but he gets frustrated when he tries to use the drill on his own. He typically just uses his fingers to twist the bolts into place, but I think that kind of takes some of the fun out of it. All in all it's a fun concept, just maybe a little too difficult for a kid younger than 4 or 5 to do on their own.

We received this truck for my four year old son to review. He loved putting it together with the little drill. I think it would have been nice to have a few more pieces to put on- instead of just bolts to screw into holes which is the majority of the toy. It has stickers you can decorate with- but my son did not want to use them. He has played with it a few more times- and his two year old brother even enjoyed it. It can be pushed when put together and played with like a regular truck. It is not something that will captivate his attention long- but he did enjoy it.

This toy was a hit in our house! My son unwrapped this truck, figured out how to take it apart and put it back together, and he is so proud of his work! He's shown it to just about every person who has come through the house since he's gotten it (and he shows them how to take it apart and put it back together). Truly an enjoyable toy for him. We have several little boys with birthdays coming up -- I think this will be our go-to gift!
