Special Olympics 2014 USA Games Sponsored by ToysRUs

Special Olympics is an international movement dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities through sport by creating communities of joy, acceptance and dignity. Athletes discover new strengths, abilities, skills and success as they gain confidence and fulfillment, both on the playing field and in life. These athletes have the ability to inspire people everywhere to open their hearts to a wider world of human talents and potential.

For many years, the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund has directed grants to Special Olympics to support the national expansion of the Young Athletes Program, an inclusive, innovative play program for children, ages 2 to 7, which helps children develop critical cognitive, social and motor skills early on by introducing them to the world of sports.

In 2012, Toys"R"Us became the first Founding Partner of the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games with a $1 million commitment. Toys"R"Us is also the Presenting Sponsor of the first-ever Young Athletes Festival at the Games, which will provide opportunities for children and their families to take part in the Special Olympics Young Athletes Program.

Toys“R”Us is also the Presenting Sponsor of the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games Law Enforcement Torch Run. More than 100 law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes from all 50 states will take part in a multi-day torch run leading up to the Games’ Opening Ceremony.

Toys“R”Us is proud to partner with the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games as these inspiring athletes showcase the talents and triumphs of people with intellectual disabilities.
