Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute craft kit for 10+ (tween age) girls My daughter was excited to get the Sew N Style to try. The directions included are ok, but we found it more helpful to go online and find tutorials that are available. We both liked that there is no way of getting hurt by the needle. At age ten parent involvement was still needed to get her going, but most of the steps are very kid friendly. Projects included are cute, but don’t take too long to complete, so extra project packs would be needed. Overall a fun little activity. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun & Safe My daughter was really excited when it arrived. Very easy to assemble. We started by making the butterfly as a birthday gift for my sister. I was impressed on how easy it was to get started. Just a few steps. The directions were easy to follow. My daughter who is 9 was able to operate it on her own. I loved that the needles were covered which made it safe to use. She was able to get the first part very easily. The second half after stuffing the butterfly was a little tricky but we made it work. Overall she was happy with the finished product and looked forward to making another item. I was happy she could do the on her own and create her very own pieces safely. A good start to learning to sew with a real sewing machine. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Designer in Training I think Sew and Style is so cool. Easy to use, fun and easy patterns. This machine is age appropriate. My child was able to use alone and with her friends. The designs are exactly as shown. This is a great gift for any occasion. I love the sturdy craftsmanship. The materials are not flimsy. it's very easy to thread based on the design. This is the ideal holiday gift for young girl. Very little to non parent involvement. This was a sure hit for my daughter. Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME This sewing machine is a fantastic way for kids to learn how to sew! My 10 and 8 year old daughters have had an absolute ball with it! It is easy to use. They figured it out themselves! The girls have sat down for hours at a time and played with this. It is a wonderful tool for learning and fun! many many different projects have been made and lots of Christmas gifts too! I highly recommend this to anyone who has a child interested in learning to sew. It is easy to use and so much fun for the kids!! Fun for adults too!! I am not good at sewing, but I can use this Sew N' Style Sewing Machine!! I have already purchased a second one as gift for my niece!! I am sure to purchase at least 2 more before Christmas as well!! Excellent item! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for my crafty girl My daughter made a purse for her iPod. The machine was easy to set up. She was able to use it by herself. The machine is safe and I know she won't get hurt. It is very easy to set up the thread. The sewing is easy and she is able to maneuver the material without difficulty. She loves it. She has her friends over and and is making them goodies too. I like the fact the machine is not too loud. It was definitely a hit. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Funniest way to learn to sew!! This little machine is fantastic! The included projects help girls to learn how to prep and sew using a machine. My daughter couldn't wait to start and after making the butterfly pillow and 2 Pom poms, she raided my materials to make a pillow for our dog! The instructions are clear enough for her to follow herself, but I loved being with her while she was working. The fun colors of the machine and crafts were also great. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for girls Sew n style is a great product for girls aged 8-10. I find that my daughter abd her friends in that group had a great time with the product. It's fantasic because it's a toy yet it introduces kids to the world of sewing and truly allows them to use their imagination and dexterity. It's something that they can do alone or with their friends. It builds confidence in seeing an idea come to life in the form of a creation [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sew N’ Style Machine is Kid-Friendly Fun Here’s the thing, I love playing with and teaching my daughters new things. However, I am a terrible teacher and I lose patience quickly. Likewise, my daughters lose focus and patience quickly. So when it comes to new toys and gadgets they need to be engaging and intuitive. I am happy to report that Cool Makers Sew N’Style Sewing Machine checked all of the boxes. It was way to set up, included easy to follow instructions, was a breeze to use (8 and 11 years olds) and most importantly it was a ton of fun. My daughters loved he fabrics and have created projects of their own. I’m actually impressed by their creativity. They were engrossed and actually learned a lot about the craft of sewing. I can’t say that about most ‘toys’. I highly recommend and would buy this again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kids had fun I let my daughter and her friends try it out over the weekend. They had a blast. I like they would not get hurt with the needles. They had a hard time making the pompoms other then that the girls had a blast. They only thing I wish is that it came with an a.c. adaptor instead of batteries. I feel like anything with batteries in my house will get played with them I won't find it again until they have leaked. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Sewing Machine For Beginners My nine year old daughter enjoyed the sewing projects that were included. The sewing machine is durable and was fairly easy to use. The instruction manual was helpful but I personally recommend watching some online videos. The videos offered some tips and suggestions that my daughter found to be helpful. Overall, my kiddo really enjoyed this product. My only wish is that more projects were included. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sew N' Style Perfect for Preteens I think this beginner's sewing machine is perfect for ages 10-12. My daughter wants to learn how to sew and I'm clueless in this regard. We looked into taking a class at the local Community Center but she needed to be 16 years old. We got the Sew N'Style Sewing Machine with Pom Pom Maker and it's perfect for her! Everything is provided for the projects including detailed instructions. She has to measure according to patterns, cut, plan, and sew. It's a nice intro to sewing and will hopefully become a lifelong hobby of hers. The Sew N' Style also has materials and instructions for pom poms and other embellishments. It's a great starter kit for kids learning to sew. The Sew N' Style is especially helpful for moms who never learned to sew and wouldn't know how to get their kids started :-) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun and easy for an 8 yr old to operate This was a great product for the 7-10 age group, maybe even a bit younger with adult supervision and assistance. My 8 year old was able to read the instructions and do some of the projects herself. She made pompoms, and sewed the pillows with tulle. She had a great time making these projects. Her only complaint was that she felt the supplies were limited. She very quickly went through the included fabric in just one day. She had wished there were more projects and fabric included. The instructions were easy to read, and she was able to independently figure out how to do these projects. She was very proud of what she was able to sew in this "starter kit". It instilled confidence in her abilities and has inspired her to want to do more sewing in the future. We will be going out to buy more fabric! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much fun! My 8 year old really enjoyed this toy. It was very easy to use and very kid friendly. I loved how it came with fabric and small templates for her to use to make little pillows. Plus it came with a list of ideas for the fabric and other small accessories. I'm seriously considering buying this toy for her little cousins for Christmas. I really think they will enjoy this too!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of Fun! My daughter LOVED playing with this and the first project was sewing a pillow. She wanted to sew all of the items the first time she used it. She was able to thread the machine by herself and start sewing following the instructions on her own. It was a little difficult for her to navigate the curves and make sure that she stayed on track but that was the only negative. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My daughter loves it My daughter was so excited to try this sewing machine. She had been asking me to teach her how to sew, but my machine was too complicated, and she lost interest. I was a bit skeptical about how this little machine could sew without thread, but we gave it a try. Interestingly, the machine uses fuzzy fabrics like felt. The needles pull the loose threads of the fabric through the different layers, and somehow, it binds them together. It is so much easier for my daughter not to have to thread the machine! She can use it independently. She whipped through the enclosed projects and started developing her own designs with felt from my craft bin. Sadly, our machine was missing a piece of tulle used to make the skirt of the unicorn pillow. I was able to find a piece of tulle in my own craft supplies that was a suitable alternative, so it didn't slow my girl down! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super cool!! This is such a cool & unique toy. It's such an interactive & creative fun thing to do! My daughter absolutely loves making projects with it & I really love how she gets to use her imagination to create cool things, instead of sitting in front of a screen. This would be an amazing toy for Santa to put under the Christmas tree! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sewing is Easy!!! This kid's version of a sewing machine is adorable!! and it works too!! My daughter, who is 9 year old has always wanted to sew, this was the perfect option!! It's a compact sewing machine but it has child-friendly features...like a needle guard and only runs on batteries, not electricity. It has its own storage drawer for all of your supplies and comes with an easy to understand instruction booklet complete with step-by-step pictures for kids to follow. You can even log onto YouTube for more how-to videos!! The kits comes with several projects to get you started and Cool Maker has a line of other kits that are just as amazing if sewing is not your thing! My daughter completed her first butterfly pillow mostly by herself...I did help to tie off the string after she finished sewing. This is a wonderful learning tool for kids and we would highly recommend it!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly fun for all ages! I opened this with my 8, 6, and 3-year-old daughters. Each one of them thought it was the coolest thing. It does some fun stuff but it would be perfect if it actually looked or seemed more realistic. My older daughters want to learn more about sewing after getting this fun product to try out. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Christmas Gift My daughter just loves the Sew N' Style Sewing Machine. When we opened it, she remarked that this is exactly what she wanted for Christmas, so I highly recommend for a Christmas gift. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sew much fun My 9 year was so excited to try the sew n style sewing machine. She tried doing the Pom Pom first. Though it didnt turn out right. She had fun and can't wait to do more. I am hoping they sell individual projects to make besides the one that came in the kit. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun starter sewing machine My daughter was very excited to try out this machine! My mom has taught her some basics about sewing, and she loves it. This machine is different than a regular machine. It uses yarn, instead of thread and it doesn't sew seams in the traditional method. It basically uses three needles to push the yarn through the fabric. The sides are more "stuck" together, than actually sewn. The end result, is that the seams can come apart very easily if you pull on them too hard. The included projects are very easy, but we couldn't complete the scrunchie, because you have to pull on an end of yarn, and it pulls the seam apart. The Pom Pom maker is really easy to use also, and just takes a few minutes. My daughter is 10, and was able to do everything with very little help from me. Even though it doesn't sew in the usual way, it's still pretty cool for kids because it teaches them basics about sewing in a way that won't frustrate them and will help them accomplish some fun projects on their own. It's a neat little toy! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great for Young Crafters I got the Sew N' Style Sewing Machine for my 9 year old daughter. She loves arts and crafts. She has experience sewing with a needle and thread but hasn't used a sewing machine yet. For her, this was a great toy. She made the butterfly and unicorn pillow crafts that were included. Her brother (7) used the Pom Pom maker. They both enjoyed making the items quite a bit. From a parent perspective, I think the toy is lacking. The sewing machine has 5 needles that only push the yarn in thru the felt enough to make it stick, not actually thru the felt material. It's not really sewing, it's more like fusing. You cant use real material with the machine after you finish the included projects, so that's a bummer. There is only one speed that the machine goes, so it's a little hard for the child to control at first. The Pom maker is kind of a rip off. I thought the machine would turn the attachment so you could wind the yarn on it for the Pom, but you have to do it yourself. Bottom line, for a child it's fun, but for the adult watching, it's kind of disappointing. I give it 3 stars because it is fun for the kids but it seems to be a one time use kind of toy. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Starter Sewing Machine This was a great starter sewing machine. The machine was a dream to open from a parent's perspective. No tools required to get it out of the box! This does take AA batteries which were not included. In total there is 6 projects to complete with your child right out of the box. A unicorn pillow, butterfly pillow, pom-poms, glitter pouch, hair accessory storage, and a scrunchie. Additional projects can be purchased to use with your machine. I completed projects with my daughters ages 11 and 10. The box states a minimum of 6 years of age is recommended. To thread the machine is super easy, my children could do it independently. I did rate this as a 4 because I did not receive all the fabrics that were to be included. Our box was missing the material for the unicorn/butterfly skirt material. It did not impact making the pillow as it was to be the added accessory. It does give your child the ability to cut fabrics, sew and follow basic instructions. Definitely requires adult assistance as some of the tasks were difficult. There is guards in place that protect fingers from any accidents. Overall our projects definitely did not look perfect but it was a super fun time that my girls and I had together being creative. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Teaching tool My 8 year old daughter has shown an interest in sewing for a few months so she was thrilled to open the box. She was able to get everything prepared on her own. She needed help following the directions for the activities but very little. There is no bobbin so the yarn does not get looped, rather it gets pushed into the main fabric by the four needles. There were five activities and two of them had guides so she could follow where she should sew. She finished all five of them in a short time. If she messed up on the projects, she was able to undo them easily and try again. This machine is safe. Children cannot get their fingers under the needles. It is a great tool to learn the basics of sewing on. There are other activity kits that you can get as well. We decided to experiment and see if it would work with other fabrics and yarn that we already had and it does. The seams were not quite as strong on cotton fabric as it was on the felt fabric in the projects that came with it. The biggest down sides to this is that the seams are weak so the projects can easily come undone and I think that children are limited to only learning a very few basic things with this machine. The positives are that it does promote creativity and prepares them for using a real sewing machine. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun and Ready for Five Projects! The Sew N'Style Sewing Machine is a perfect first sewing machine for little hands to make their first projects almost without any help. My granddaughter is home schooled and this became part of her home Ec course for sewing. It's now her favorite - even trumps over baking cheese cake brownies - as she learns to create fashion pieces and combine art at the same time. She wanted to share with my 5 year-old granddaughter who is visiting and I was concerned it would be hard; however, it was great for her hand and eye coordination and she took to it like she's been sewing a long time. It could be her mama sews and she picked it up some. Her project was making a hair clip with pom poms and she is currently drawing a fashions she wants to make with the Sew N' Style adding the butterflies as pockets instead of pouches, (more kits coming), and insists she can do it. This is great for creativity and imagination. I definitely will be taking photos. My 8 year old had trouble with the scrunchie and became a bit frustrated. Mom came to the rescue and all was happy and well again. The elastic is small and the only con is it's hard to put in thick hair. Maybe in the future the Sew N' Style makers can add a bit more length to this project. In all, this is a fun easy to use Sewing Machine for children ages 6+. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun First Sewing Machine My daughter and I tested out the Sew N' Style Sewing Machine with Pom Pom Maker. When it showed up in the mail, she couldn't wait to break it open to start sewing. I was busy for a few hours before we could get started and she asked me when we could do it no less than 10 times. The sewing machine comes with materials to make five projects including two small pillows, Pom poms and a glitter pouch. When we finally had a chance to get to work, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sewing machine. It seems sturdy and incredibly safe. One must note that it requires four AA batteries that are not included. The sewing machine came with string already loaded to show how to properly load it for a project. In addition, the needle is hidden in plastic so that a child (or adult) cannot accidentally stick themselves. Neither my daughter nor I had ever used a sewing machine so the directions were definitely necessary. Fortunately, the directions were easy to follow. Unfortunately, my daughter would not be able to create all of these projects on her own. The pillows definitely required my help, but the glitter pouch and Pom poms were easier to create. My daughter is 8 and the age range for the product says 6 and up. Because of this, I only give the product four stars. My daughter loved making her projects and was so proud to show them off. She keeps asking me when we can make more. Additional projects are sold separately and I will definitely be purchasing additional project kits for my daughter. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Has a lot of potential I tried out this cool looking machine just to know the feel of it. The machine itself is very attractive and that the colors really stand out. I like that the needles are well kept within the plastic protector. It is very easy to use, no complicated buttons at all. That plastic protector is a big plus for a mom like me knowing that my 9 year old is a first timer in sewing, it gave a peace of mind that her tiny fingers will never come in contact with the needles. And so, I let her tried it out as well. The joy she has in her face was pure excitement. I didnt read the instructions to her at all, I wanted to see if she will be able to figure it out on her own, and she did! Instruction and directions are well explained. When my daughter finished a project, she did gave me some opinions about it,which I also agree. Pros: The machine was of the right size, not too big not too small at all. It was easy to carry around and it is also not too heavy. I like that there is a tiny drawer where you can store some stuff. No complicated buttons or setup. Cons: It was LOUD! Its like a blender trying to hammer a solid ice. My daughter got startled but she got the hang of it after. The stitch doesnt really hold well. One of the projects she did was a pillow and it didnt stay together no matter how many times she ran over those areas. I tried it as well and had the same issues. All other project was ok. Has it that those stitches held better would have made a big difference, i wouldnt mind the loud noise at all. It does have potentials, I really wish they can improve it as they are very exciting for young kids. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Girls loved it I am a seriously craft challenged mom with girls who love to create and the Sew N Style Sewing Machine is a wonderful and easy way to create things together. Other than batteries, the kit comes with everything you need to make several projects. For a family with more than one interested child, I was extra excited to see how easy it was to divide up the projects to make it "fair." I was also pleased at the initial number of projects meaning you don't immediately have to go buy extra projects. The projects themselves were fun and took just enough time. My girls are 6 and 8 so if it takes TOO long they will lose interest, but done too quick and it's boring. I would say each project took about 15 min. It's also a fantastic and safe introduction to a sewing machine to learn how to guide fabric, cut patterns, etc without having to worry about bobbins or needles. Overall I was very pleased. I am not giving it 5 stars, though, because there are ways it could improve. Primarily, the instructions. Nothing really explained HOW it worked which would have been helpful to know to prevent frustration at the start. The needles push the yarn"thread" through the fabric so that is sews together. But this means you must move the fabric VERY slowly (much slower than typical sewing machines) so that the needles have sufficient time to pierce the yarn and fabric over and over. We figured this out, but it took some practice (and some 6year old tears were shed as things didn't initially stay together). Overall I am pleased. I would buy again and plan to buy additional projects. I would recommend to friends with young children who are interested in sewing and creating but need something easier, safer, and more simply managed than a traditional sewing machine. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Daughter Loves It My daughter (8) watches me sew every day and has been begging me to teach her. This product seemed like a fantastic place to start. She was incredibly excited to get started. Out of the box, I was a bit disappointed. From a crafting perspective, this is simply a toy. The mechanism works by pushing the yard fibers through the fabric by a stippling motion. Five metal spikes push the yarn fibers down into the fabric creating almost a stapled effect. There is very little space between the footplate and the needles. This is good and bad. On the positive side, the metal spikes are completely enclosed and there is no way to get small fingers injured. Unfortunately, this also means that there is very little room to push the fabric and yarn and requires a bit of manipulation to get it started. We started quickly on the projects included. The directions were mostly clear and caused a small bit of frustration in the beginning. We were able to fully complete the sparkly drawstring bag, but the pom pom was a fail. Not sure if that was the devise or the user, but she had fun and was eager to keep going. However, two pieces of fabric were missing from the box which meant we were unable to complete them as instructed. I found some extra fabric and yarn in my crafting supplies and told my daughter to ‘have fun’. She loves it. She spent the entire rest of the day ‘sewing’ and creating. The simple mechanism (single button start) and easy thread loading meant that she could set it up herself. Once I got past my own expectations, I realize that this is actually a pretty great toy. It gives kids the imaginary play with the satisfaction of actually creating something. I don’t expect her creations to last for any significant length of time due to the method of joining, but she has a great time doing it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
