Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy little board [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros: It does what it says. And it is easy to shake and erase. Writing and painting shows up very clearly on the writing area. The two stamps that it comes with makes it more fun. Better than chalk boards as there is no chalk crumbs to clean up. Everyone can use it in the house and this is not only for kids. Cons: The writing area is small but that's probably because it is gearing towards kids. Packaging is also gearing towards toys so it makes is a little cumbersome to unpack (we all know how toys are packed...). Overall I think it is a good buy and it does what it says. Hopefully the battery will also last for a while too. Can't comment on that yet as it is still new and working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun twist on a classic! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had the original Etch A Sketch growing up, so this was a fun reboot to experience through my kids. They loved the "magic" drawing colors! The included stamps (where the knobs used to be) were a fun bonus to play with! And even better that I didn't have to worry about messy ink! The "pen" included for drawing is easy to use and allows for fairly detailed drawing. My oldest wanted to practice hand writing on his own! The younger kids have been enjoying all the scribbles. My only suggestion would be to tweak how you have to "erase" it. Doing 2-3 rapid, short fast shakes of the screen isn't too user friendly for 3 year olds. It requires more fine tuned motor movements than many have at this age.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from etch a sketch freestyle a huge hit!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the etch a sketch freestyle for my 5 year old, but my 2 year old thinks It's the bomb! I will have to get another one! We brought it home and they colored and Colored all night. It brings out the creativity without the mess of crayons. And my 2 year old does not draw on the floor and the couch! It is the perfect fit for our family. Just pack it in the car and it is hours of entertainment on the road! Drawing what they see and where we are going. It's a love from this mama

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great color and imagination [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall the Etch a Sketch is great, I always loved it as a kid so trying this new type was fun. It is a colorful art pad that allows you to draw on the surface and erase it, so the imagination and creativity is up to you!! Oh ya and I also let my kiddos try it out and they didn't want to give it back!!! They fought over who was going to draw the next scene. We even played hangman with it in the car. This beats the old nobs of the Etch a Sketch any day. I would totally recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun new classic [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We just got to play with the new Etch a Sketch Freestyle and it's so neat!! We love the different colors when you draw. Instead of knobs to draw lines, it has stamps with 4 different shape options... a circle, star, cloud and grass... or it could be a crown for a prince or princess! It also has a "pen" attached that you can draw freestyle (hence the name right. haha). My boys are 7 and 9 and they love it and we have to time them so they can take turns without fighting. The only con about it isn't a huge deal, but it's the shaking to erase sometimes takes more than the four shakes stated in the instructions. But then all of a sudden it is clear and you can start over. So it does work it just takes a little extra shaking.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fun product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 8 year old son was very excited when my Etch a Sketch arrived. I loved that as soon as you removed it from its packaging it was ready to be played with. I also loved that it's very lightweight, the stylus has its own compartment, and the stampers fit securly in their spots. It's great that it's completely mess free and that my child could create something over and over. Unfortunately this did not hold my sons attention for more than a week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blast from the past [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Etch A Sketch Freestyle is fabulous for both my seven-year-old and my three-year-old. The stylus is perfect for a little hands and the little stampers are fun. This is definitely an improved blast from the past. Shaking the device to erase takes a couple times to get used to, but thereafter it's pretty straightforward as far as use goes. I wish I had my old Etch a Sketch from the 80's to show my kids! I am sure they would love to compare!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New twist on a retro game staple! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is absolutely a great kids toy with a little nostalgic fun for Mom and Dad! My son played with this Etch-a-Sketch freestyle for hours! Love the rainbow background instead of the old white version I had as a kid. A stylus is used for drawing instead of the traditional turn knobs ( which was always hard as a kid lol) great improvement on a classic and the stampede were an added bonus for little who don't draw well yet! Love this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Etch A Sketch Freestyle is so much fun! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Etch A Sketch Freestyle is perfect entertainment for kids of all ages! The stylus is a great way for kids to draw without making a mess. It is accurate, colorful, and easy to use. The shake erase component is an added bonus since you don't need cloths or an eraser. My children take it everywhere we go as it is small and simple to take in the car. I am buying some for my friends kids as gifts. Love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Portable Art Activity [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids were very excited when they saw the new Etch A Sketch. It is a big improvement over the original where you have to turn knobs. Having the attached stylus is great as well as the two double-sided stamps that can be stored right on the Etch A Sketch. The reason I didn't give it five stars is that the darker blue color is quite difficult to see against the black background. We also found that sometimes it was hard to erase. We would have to shake it several times in order to get it to erase. All in all, the new Etch a Sketch Freestyle is great and provides lots of entertainment to my kids. They often fight over who gets to use it. My 11-year-old daughter likes it the most, as she loves to draw. An added bonus is that it's portable and can be taken in the car or anywhere with no mess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My daughter put down the electronic! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My nine year old daughter actually put down her hand held electronic to play with this Etch a Sketch! I even have pictures to prove it! I was very surprised that my nine year old would want to play with an Etch a Sketch but she absolutely loves it! She has spent hours on it doodling and creating a little story. We actually used it to help with math homework last night. This Etch a Sketch is the new wave and is much better than the original. It has bright colors and little "stampers" that you can use to make designs on the Etch a Sketch. The only thing that would make this even better than it already is, is to offer some additional stampers for purchase. If you have a child that likes to draw, create or has a great imagination than the Etch a Sketch freestyle will be an instant hit in your house!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fun Yet Frustrating [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids (ages 7 and 4) were super excited about trying out the new Etch a Sketch Freestyle. They liked the bright colors and couldn't wait to try it out. First off, my 4 year old couldn't get the stamps out of their holders. He was getting upset about it before his sister came to the rescue. Both kids enjoyed drawing on the board and looking at the rainbow of colors. However, both kids had trouble getting the board to erase. Heck, I even had issues getting it to erase at times. Because of this issue, my 4 year old hasn't touched the Etch a Sketch much after the first day. My daughter has continually played with it. We have been using it nightly to go over spelling words and she enjoys using the stamps. Overall, I am pleased with the product, I just wish it was a little more kid friendly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally awesome [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was my turn to bring in a new toy or game for the game room at work and I thought this would be a hit. I had left it out on our dining room table and, little did I know, our kids loved it! I was actually quite surprised that my 8 and 11 year olds are totally into it. They bring it in the cat everywhere and entertain themselves in the back seat with it-I'm always excited to find something that isn't an electronic device and this is even better because it helps them be creative! This is such an upgrade from the old school Etch A Sketch. I used to be annoyed at the limitations of the dials to create a picture that wasn't geometric. The stylus works great and gone are the constraints of the Etch A Sketch from my childhood! My only complaint is that the stamps don't work that great and are really hard to get out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much fun! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter started Kindergarten this year and she is loving it. The Etch a Sketch is so fun for her, she uses it to draw pictures and practice her writing. It is also great for when she has to come with me on appointments, it doesn't need charging and it keeps her occupied. She just loves it and plays with it all the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing fun for all ages! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think this is a fantastic product. I have a 5yr old son and an eight year old daughter and they both just love it. What a great improvement in a classic. The kids loved all the things they could draw. The stamps were super cool. I even found myself playing with it after the children went to bed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hours of fun!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I must say that Etch A Sketch hit it out of the park with the new Free Style version. I gave it to my granddaughter to play with and her face lit up and she was so excited!! She love Etch A Sketch and when she saw what this one could do, honestly, she played with it for hours, and would draw with the pen and stamp with the stamps making tons of pictures. She would show me each one, shake to erase then start all over. Even my little grandson loved playing with this!! So colorful, lets the creativity flow!! I for sure and getting several more of these to give as gifts for birthdays and now that the holidays are coming up, this will make an awesome gift for kids of any age. My grown children, would not put it down. This is a great toy for kids to use for a car ride, or even an airplane ride. Great fun, no mess, and all the pieces have a place right on the board. This is a great product!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Etch A Sketch FreeStyle [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a great advancement to the original Etch A Sketch! My twin girls love using the Etch A Sketch FreeStyle as it gives them hours of creativity time without having to go through a forest of paper. I am giving the product a 4 out of 5 as it takes quite a bit of shaking to clear the board.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great car toy [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My three kids, ages 4, 6, and 8, all have the original etch-a-sketch so they were really excited to try out this new version. They loved the colored drawing and the stamps. Although they used the stamps a lot less once the novelty of them wore off. The only complaint we had was the difficulty erasing the board. I actually had to read the instructions to figure out how to clear it and even then couldn't get it to erase. We can get it to clear about 50% of the time and can't see to figure out what the trick is. But I've discovered this is the best car toy. It's lightweight, easy to grab on the way out the door, and is as entertaining as coloring but I don't have markers rolling around the floor of my car a week later. Overall I'd say this toy is nice, quiet entertainment and I would recommend it...with the warning that your child will be asking you to clear the board whenever they use it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Etch A Sketch was a Hit [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son was extremely excited when the new Etch A Sketch arrived in the mail. He immediately opened the toy and began playing with it, exclaiming, "this is so cool." My son especially loved the stamping tools and rainbow colors. As a parent, I especially like that the toy is lighter, has an attached pen, and doesn't erase upon picking up (for those of us who remember the older version of the toy which would lose work upon any significant shifting). Although my son loved the stamping tools, they were difficult for him to get clicked back into their slots, so those may be more easily lost amongst the plethora of little toy pieces that most children accumulate. The only negative regarding this new toy is that because kids are exposed to electronic technology at such a young age, there may be some competition from electronic versions. I think this toy would make a great travel option for young children.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun toy that my kids enjoy [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Etch A Sketch FreeStyle is a fun toy that both my kids enjoy playing with! My son is 8 and my daughter is 4, and they both like using it. They have played with a "traditional" Etch a Sketch before, and they definitely enjoy this one better than the original. In fact, there is enough difference that I don't think they correlate the two. It is surprisingly lightweight, and the different colors are fun. I wish the blue was brighter though - it is hard to see the blue against the black screen. I like that there are batteries included, but haven't figured out why the toy needs them. The stampers are cute and a good idea, but don't work extremely well. The toy doesn't always erase right away when it is shaken - which I like if the kids are moving around and drawing - but it does usually take quite a few times of shaking to get it erased. All in all, this is a fun product that my kids really like to play with!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Oldie Is Better [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My six-year-old received this toy and was very excited to play with it. When we took it out of the package is very easy to learn how to use. Which is always a plus. However, he got very bored with it very quickly. While it's really cool that it changes colors and getting raised to be colored on again and again. We found that he became very tired of it very quickly. It wasn't exciting enough for him. He could write his name, and draw pictures, but other than that it wasn't overly exciting. We had very very high hopes for this toy. Also, we found it very difficult to erase the image. While on the old version you were able to shake it once and remove most of the image, this one was not the same. You had to shake several times and a particular direction in order for the image to completely disappear. While it's a really cool concept, I'm not sure that it's something that will withstand the test of time like the old version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a fun new version of a classic toy! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The minute I received the Etch A Sketch Freestyle my 7 year old couldn't put it down! She enjoyed drawing and making colorful shapes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A modernized throwback we love! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love our Etch A Sketch Freestyle! My 9-year old is not necessarily an artist but he loved it too - and I loved watching him use it and show it and explain to his dad how it worked, then playing tic-tac-toe with him on it... there are not that many toys that are not electronic that will inspire them to play together like that. Alex loved the rainbow background and the stampers (perfect for tic-tac-toe instead of having to write Xs or Os). Love the pen too - and he quickly figured out and showed me how to erase (I admit we did not read the instructions!). He enjoyed coloring the whole screen to show the full background that night, and when his dad used it the next morning to leave him an I love you message he was conflicted because he liked the message but was upset about it messing up his work! I really do love it, if you have young kids and want them to use something other that their electronics, this is for you... it also brings back memories of being a kid and using the old-fashioned etch-a sketch!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great idea, but needs some tweaking [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think that this Etch-a-Sketch was a great idea and I was really excited about it, but it didn't live up to my expectations. It's on the small side which is perfect for keeping in a bag on the go, car, etc. It has a black screen and when you use the stylus or stamps that comes with it, it etches in multicolor similar to scratch art cards. There are a few issues that I have with this: 1) the background colors are not bright enough so if you are using the stylus it's hard to really see what was drawn; 2) it doesn't erase easily. My 5 year old was having issues, then I tried it and it's picky with how and when it will erase by shaking it, there must be a technique that I haven't figured out yet; 3) since you do have to shake it so hard to erase, sometimes the stylus will pop out and could easily hurt someone. My 5 year old son does really like it except how hard it is to erase, but that could also be s good thing because erasing too easy would be bad too. Maybe just have a sliding feature to erase, though that would move if further away from the etch-a-sketch design.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Doesn't Work Half the Time [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I was growing up, I loved my Etch a Sketch. So when I had a chance to try the new Etch a Sketch, I went for it! My 7 and 9-year old daughters were just as eager as me to try it. After reading the instructions and removing the pull tab from the battery compartment, we were set to go. The girls used the stylus and the stampers, which were a little hard to get out but they managed. When it came time to erase their work, however, the Etch a Sketch didn't work at first. First we flipped it over and shook it one way. Didn't work. Then we shook it the other way and it still didn't erase. Then we just tried to shake it every which way and it still didn't erase. So we set it aside. When we went back to it later and tried to erase it again, it worked. So the girls stamped and wrote all over it. Then we tried to erase it again and again it didn't work. Finally, we realized that the Etch a Sketch has to be face up when erasing, not face down as instructed. The girls and I liked the toy, and are glad we have it. It should also be noted that the stamps leave a mark on the screen that is still there even when the image is erased.
