Rated 1 out of 5 by piddy25 from Lack of features on the new one is disappointing I have four children and each of them have a Scout or Violet. We were so excited to get one for our fourth child until today when I went to personalize it and realized that it has been seriously down graded. My older kids loved selecting songs and now there is ZERO choice. You get what you get and nothing more. Being able to personalize the name, favorite food, color, and animal is great but losing the song selection is HUGE disappointment. Also, the lose of a buttons on the stomach is another downgrade that is disappointing. I don't understand why they took away some of the best features and gave us a cut rate toy at the same price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by OTmom from Scout My daughter was given Violet about 2.5 years ago and loved it, we all loved it and the features were great. We just bought a Scout for my son's first birthday. I am so DISAPPOINTED in the changes that have been made to this toy. You can no longer choose the songs Scout plays, there are no hearts on the belly and there is no feature/button in the belly area. The battery pack is huge and hard to get into the back of the toy. Also, the way to personalize the scout is not very user friendly and took several attempts because programming option was having difficulties communicating between the website and the toy. I feel this toy has been seriously DOWN GRADED but yet the price is the same.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NatureMom from Overall Great Toy Really happy with purchase. Son really likes the toy--engages him and he is only 5 weeks old. A little disappointed that our son's name was not on the list so he can not have his name spelled to him. I was under the impression that we could program his name into the toy, didn't realize that there is a list of names you have to choose from. I think the toy would be better if the parents could program the toy with their voices, this would engage the infants even more and then there would be no limitations on which names the toy can be programed with. Also...milk and formula should be added to the list of favorite foods..;)

Rated 1 out of 5 by gadget0104 from Newer version is a disappointment - less features I bought a number of Scouts and Violets for my nieces, nephews and friend's children. When I bought one for my daughter, it is the "updated" version. I got it home and was surprised (not in a good way) that the only thing that can be customized is the name of the child. The older versions had the ability to choose a wide selection of songs. The new version you get the few songs that are loaded on it and no more. Major disappointment and in two months my daughter is already getting bored with the lack of variety. My niece and nephews were entertained for years with the older version as the songs could be updated as they grew. Steer clear of the new version. It's a major disappointment!

Rated 1 out of 5 by MJMOM from Had to throw away My daughter got this toy for her birthday. After programming it, she became attached to it and loved to listen to the bedtime music at night. One night she got sick all over poor Violet. After using a damp cloth as the directions state and spraying the toy down with disenfectant, it still reeks. I contacted the company about other options towards cleaning this toy. I was told the damp cloth was it. Therefore, it went in the trash. It is unrealistic for a company to market a toy intended for young ones to cuddle and/or sleep with and not be washed if peed or thrown up on. I understand it is electronic, but it should be the pack needs to be removable so the toy can be washed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by PurpleLady from Not what they use to be The old version of scout and violet used to be able to customize the songs. This feature was great because they had options for Happy Birthday or Christmas songs. At first you could only pick ten songs then the middle version you could pick fifteen. (there are a lot of songs you can pick from to make it more geared for your child.) Now the newest version went backwards to before the first pals to where you can't choose the songs your kids listen to. Instead they are preprogramed in. You can only add in your kids name (and spelling), favorite color, animal and food. I'm very disappointed with this new product. I hope the next version they come out with will allow more customizable options.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Johe from Changes ruined the product Had purchased this for my first daughter, who is now 5 and still loves it. Wanted to buy it for our younger daughter and son, only to discover its been massively scaled back. You can no longer select different songs, and I'm constantly having to try to explain to my little ones why they cannot have certain songs playing on the elder daughter's version. To make matters worse, they've eliminated ALL information on the original version, including the software support for plugging in the original, so you can't even get the songs for that one anymore. It would appear Leapfrog is not interested in keeping customers they may earn, but rather just keep reaching for the next new one. Had to return the new ones and hide the old one as they began to fight over it and the lost features. Disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MakennasMommy from We LOVE Violet! My daughter got Violet for Christmas from her grandmother, when she was about 9 months old. We love Violet. I love the personalization options. Her name is "Makenna", which you can't find anywhere on anything. Leap Frog had this spelling as an option. I was even able to pick a different spelling "Mckenna" for the pronounciation part because "Makenna" wasn't prounounced the way we prounounced it. She is only 14 months old right now, so we mostly use the music feature. We set the lullaby on 10 minutes and out she goes. Violet is also portable, so our bedtime music goes everywhere with us! I can't wait until she starts getting into the other features more.
