Rated 5 out of 5 by Jkk77 from Great build plus my additional extra Good solid challenging build, added lights to it using copper wire lights that just squeeze between the bricks, found the towers amusingly wobbly, the way it's built is clever in a modular style.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Pepster from Lego Taj Mahal is a Nice Display Piece! I hope Lego comes up with more challenging sets as the Taj Mahal. When finished the Lego Taj Mahal makes a nice display piece, but fair warning it's fairly huge. I like that the bags are numbered, for I have a small nook in the family room where I build my lego sets. I understand that people have a whole room dedicated for Lego, but this works out nice for people who don't. I have built 4 Lego sets so far and yet to have a missing piece which impresses me very much. About 1/4th way through the build process I changed my building technique a little and notice it was much easier to have every part separated and the very small pieces put into bins. It takes about 20-30 minutes to separate the pieces, but speeds up the actual build time immensely. I'm 53 years old, so playability is a non-factor for me, but I would say the Taj Mahal has no playability whatsoever. It's a very nice display piece and now I just have to find a place in a room where I can put it. I'm glad that Lego re-released this set and to all the so-called "collectors" stop calling yourself collectors. A collector is one who treasures their collections that rarely parts with anything unless it becomes really really valuable. No your just trying to make a fast buck at someone else's gullibility. I'm not a collector, for I build these Lego sets, for me that's part of the fun and it's a challenge.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Ed3735 from Looks great Once completed the set looks stunning, but considering the price I was a little disappointed with a couple of things. The four tall towers on each corner are very flimsy and seem a bit cheap, they should be more ridged. The four sections which make up the base are very flimsy when trying to pick it up, I had to add some extra pieces between the joints to make it stronger. The build itself is very tedious as it is mostly building each section 4 times over, but what do you expect with such a symmetrical building? Building the dome was by far the most enjoyable part of it. Overall though this set looks beautiful with the white, gold and pale blue colours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by carternc from Very fun and enjoyable build! The 10256 Lego Taj Mahal is an incredible build. There is a lot of repetition, but it is needed. I love the details in the center of the set including the many archways. As shown in my pictures, this set is built in many sections and therefore is very maneuverable. This is a plus for me because I built movable shelves and like to change it up once in a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LuckyLegoBuilder from My LEGO Taj Mahal Review 10256 I have always loved Legos and I had my eye on this set for a while and on my 13th birthday, I was surprised with it. As one of the biggest Lego sets in the world, it is not easy to make with an average build time of about 18-23 hours (alone). As a frequent lego builder, I was surprised by the different styles and techniques (curved corners, curved dome, etc) used to build the set. It was a fun experience overall but you need lots of patience to build it because of how repetitive it is and how long the build time is. The finished product does not contain any play features. The set is more for aesthetics/a design element. Overall this was an amazing Lego set with a great build process. Happy Building :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Aphasia from My best personal gift I've wanted this lego for years but when I was going to get it it was retired. So finally they re released it so I jumped to buy it and was up at 4am the day it came out but I was put on backorder since so many people wanted it. The build itself is difficult but the instructions are very very good and you don't have a million parts at a time on the go making it easier to find the parts you need. The Taj Mahal build is great and it looks amazing!!! Completely worth me being up really early to buy and spend that money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PDXBruce from Great set I missed buying this when it first came out and remember reading about Sting and his son building it when he was on tour. I was sure I'd never get a chance to buy it and then LEGO reissued this beautiful set. I was in line when my local LEGO store opened on November 3 and was very happy to carry it out to my car. It's designed in modules: six at the base, eight for the mausoleum, and then the dome. That makes for a sensible build and it can be disassembled if necessary. There is a bit of tedium, since the architecture of the Taj is all about symmetry. The modules can get repetative, but the plus side is you learn a few tricks as you progress. The engineering of the roof and interior of the dome is brilliant and structurally sound. My 10-year-old grandson helped me at several points and it wasn't beyond his abilities. The only thing I didn't particularly like when I was done was the "knobbiness" of the dome and the domes of the four chhatris. So I went to Bricks and Pieces and ordered 1x1 and 1x2 tiles and 1x1x2/3 roof tiles to go over all the knobs. I think it cleans up the final product. Anyway, fun build and a very impressive piece that draws the admiration and comment of everyone who sees it, especially those who have been to Agra.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mamacita009 from Holy cow! This was given to me as a gift, and it was my first Expert Lego set. Wow! The completed product is breathtaking and makes a statement on display. It is extra tricky because it is monochromatic, and the symmetry means that you construct the same or similar section 2-6 times. This set has zero playability, but it wasn’t intended for that. I enjoyed building it, and I found the rotunda under the central dome to be particularly challenging. Just a warning, though- build it where you want it to stay because it doesn’t move well. (You can cry over spilled milk, but can you cry over obliterated Lego creation?)

Rated 5 out of 5 by SGTHawkeye from A Beautiful Set,Boring Build, A Satisfied Customer Its great that Lego listened and brought back this set that so many people wanted. It looks amazing and is a physically big set and good show piece. It is a relatively boring build though, lots of repetition and standard techniques (although seeing as this is a copy of the 2008 version they may have been new then). The reputation is more down to the fact this is a model of a real building which is symmetrical, so I don’t think that is a knock against Lego. Obviously, lots of white but the instructions keep it clear. People have complained about building the windows out of 1x1 plates, while that is annoying it gives the windows a much closer look to the real buildings windows so its worth the hassle. While the build wasn’t particularly exciting, seeing the structure grown to completion was very enjoyable and the over all the product is 100% worth it. If you like buildings and can get this set you should, you won’t be disappointed, its an eye catcher.

Rated 5 out of 5 by morniell from amazing!!! I was so happy when I found out that LEGO had reissued this set. This was one of the sets that got me interested in Legos, but I was not able to buy it the first time around because I was very young. As for the set itself, all I can say is WOW! Aside from some repetitive building (which can be expected since it is a symmetrical building) this was by far one of my favorite sets to build. It is an absolute masterpiece and a great conversations starter as it is very hard to miss when displayed in a room. The only issue I had with the completed set was moving it from my building table to my dresser, mainly because the base pieces kept separating when I picked it up. Other than that, I was 100% satisfied with this set and would definitely recommend to any long-time Lego fan!

Rated 4 out of 5 by oldAFOLsUNITE from Finished build is impressive There are lots of reviews which mention repetitive sections in this build, sorry but what did you expect? This is an iconic large building of course there are lots of sections the same, that is part of the challenge. The main problem I had with the build was some of the sections are quite fragile and come apart easily, so be prepared for some frustrations and you need a lot of room to build and display the model. The finished model goes together well and looks great & I'll probably add lights once I decide where to display it. Would like to see more large iconic builds like this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Magoo14 from The best set ever First I would like to start off by saying that people who think children would have no time for this you are wrong I'm between 14 - 18 and this is the most intreguing set I have ever built. Secondly this is probably the most ornately designed piece of lego from the detail of the small turrets to the detail of the main centre their is room for the hole family to get involved in certain areas such as bags 5-8 as this is a very repatitive section. All in all this is well worth the money but if you are looking for replay ability maybe look else where this is for an expert lego builder

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pusheen from Taj Mahal I am actually writing this on behalf of my daughter's experience. (There is no category for her age--she is 12--so I selected the closest option.) She received this kit for Christmas and is enjoying the build immensely; she is about a third of the way through the structure after spending part of a couple of days on it. I believe her enjoyment disproves the idea that this set is inaccessible to children. In the past she has also built the tower bridge, Big Ben, palace cinema, detective's office, Parisian Restaurant, pet store, and others. The Taj Mahal is one of her favorites!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ryan96 from I was so excited Lego decided to release this set again, as I had been wanting it for many years but was hesitant to spend the steep price for it. I think the current price, especially considering the size and number of pieces, is appropriate. While the build is a little repetitive, it is still satisfying to see such a large structure come together. I love the symmetrical design. The amount of detail in this set is truly amazing. The base also splits apart and the middle section comes out to allow for easier transport. This is definitely one of my favorite sets.

Rated 1 out of 5 by McGarr from WORST SET EVER!! WOW, I really don't know how this set has so many high reviews, yes its big and looks very well, but with that size comes flimsy and god awful design. It's so fragile and does not hold together well, all 4 tops of my towers refused to stay clutched on, the bases are super fragile, too few technic pins, out of the hundred Lego sets this by far is the worst set I've ever bought! And I've bought so crap sets over the years, this is boring, tedious and a chore to put together. I'm not a blind Lego fanboy who's swooning over this just because its big.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BarberSam13 from Stunning, Beautiful and Legendary I was so excited when I saw that the Taj Mahal set was being re released as I never had the chance to get the original of this legendary set, up until the 2017 Millennium Falcon was released this was the largest Lego set ever made, so I knew I had to buy this and have it in my collection! Firstly this is not a 'new' set, it is a re release of the old creator Taj Mahal and from the research I've done there isn't anything different about the two other than the box art and a couple of sections in the building process are in a different order, so if you're like me and don't have the original then I strongly recommend you buy this, but if you have the old one then there isn't really much point in getting this one, especially at the price it's at. This set took me 3 days to build and it was pretty full on but still enjoyable at the same time, the vast majority of the build was repeated 4 times as it has to be cemetrical. The build isn't overly difficult for adults or older kids but young kids will probably need help from a parent. Even though a lot of the build is repetitive it doesn't get boring at any point and you really feel like you've accomplished something once it's complete as the end product is truly magnificent! I was shocked at how huge the finished model is, it is absolutely beautiful and has a real presence in a room, it is definitely a set I would 100% recommend as it is a fantastic addition to anyone's collection and is a beautiful Lego construction of one of the 7 wonders of the world! Easily a 5/5!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Legoman65 from Bringing more sets out of the closet This set is an exceptional build. I’m glad LEGO has decided to pull this set out of mothballs, I would love to see them pull some more out and do reissues of the Green Grocer or Cafe Corner or any of the early modular buildings.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Raffe from Missing/wrong pieces Buyer beware of missing/wrong parts. On bag 3 I was missing 4 pieces. It's never happened to me before, but fine, I get it, it happens. Ordered replacements, they arrived, ready to go again - for about 2 hours. Now, on bag 6, instead of the two 1x3s I need to finish the second facade, I have two 1x4s. This build was supposed to be relaxing for me and it's been anything but. I wish I could have put time to finish at infinity, because with 7 bags left to go and parts missing/wrong from a third of the bags already, I'm not sure I even WANT to finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lgard1975 from Excellent One word... Impressive.. and that doesn’t even begin to explain how amazing this building is. My husband was absolutely enthralled by it (he’s 35) and he only let our eldest son help build it. It looks completely authentic once completed and dare I say it doesn’t really look like Lego. An iconic building has received a fantastic rendering in this set and is a must buy for any Lego fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by nukewarrior from Beautiful building This is a showpiece. It takes over a room. It was a little hard on my fingers but otherwise not too taxing. Definately for older builders - children would not have the skill or patience for this Lego masterpiece. I love it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by lumpyn from Repetitive It's a good-looking model when finished, but the most boring one to build that I've done so far. The problem is that the Taj Mahal is a four-way symmetrical building, so the whole build is very repetitive. You build one section and then repeat it at least 2, 3 or 4 times. Difficult to recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by Luci from Awesome masterpiece I bought this set for myself, but my two grandsons built it for me. They have graduated into the Lego creator and expert sets after building The Disney castle, Tower Bridge, Ninjago City, London bus. This set was a challenge but they each built 1/2 — this was easy to do because of the nature of the building. The detail is awesome from start to finish and the finished product is magnificent. It is a large piece and deserves an appropriate setting for display. I have received many compliments on it. Eldest grandson, age 11, is now building Millennium Falcon 75192 and younger grandson ,age 10 is starting Big Ben! I am pleased to have been a part of their love affair with Lego. We have been buying Lego sets for many years. The one down side I see is that once one builds the larger creator and expert sets, it’s kind of hard to get excited over the small sets. So Lego, we are all for bigger and tougher sets to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Seriescollector from Worth it This set was definitely worth the wait. This was my Christmas present this year and I just finished building it. My favourite sets are the large architectural sets. I am disappointed to see sets like Big Ben be retired but I am excited to see sets like the Rome coliseum be released. This set was fairly quick to build considering the mass of pieces but that is due to the repetition of everything. Overall I’m happy with this set and I would recommend it. The story behind the Taj Mahal is also worth sharing and quite interesting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by phillymetal from Great set. Amazing price. A+++ I’m an avid collector of the Creator Expert line. This is definitely one of the better set. It is extremely detailed and displays amazingly. I love that it can be taken apart into pieces for easy transportation. The biggest flaw is that it has way too much repetition. Basically you could almost cut it into four equal parts. But this is definitely one of the best sets that I have bought.
