The LEGO DUPLO Cargo Train is now even easier for your toddler to control and interact with in multiple ways. Young children will love this fun toy as they become the DUPLO locomotive driver with the Push & Go motor - a gentle push either forwards or backwards sends the train on its way and a firm hold or lift off the tracks will make it stop. Help them place the 5 colored action bricks along the track to sound the horn, turn the lights on and off, pause and refuel, change direction and stop the train wherever they like. With a harbor, boat, café, loading station, 2 cranes, 3 DUPLO figures plus an animal figure and lots of cool track pieces included in this LEGO DUPLO set, preschoolers can enjoy classic, fun train missions. Download the optional app to your own device and unlock even more play possibilities, including remote-control function and fun activities to complete with your toddler!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the new trains, both Duplo and Powered Up! This train is cute as a button, and the action bricks are a brilliant feature. I'm looking forward to using this as part of an upcoming LEGO library Display & Play Event. The modest price makes it a great way to get started with Duplo trains, or even use it as an expansion pack with other train sets. My only reservation is the design of the battery compartment. It took several tries to get the batteries all seated properly and the lid closed without one of the batteries popping loose again. Once everything was in place, though, I had *no* problem with the amount of power available in the engine, and it is a pleasure to operate!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great App Integration Santa gave my 18mo this for Christmas. It is simple to set up and use. We bought it so that our older son could play together with youngest. Works perfectly for that. Making the set is easy, i’d recommend getting extra sets so there’s more track. App Set up is easy and straightforward and worked straight away on our Apple devices (IoS 12) Youngest loves the push and go so no app needed. Our 4yo loves the app and the extra interactive games. We had a lot of old style black track from years ago, it works perfectly with that. Ths only issue is the old style bridge doesn’t have enough grip. This was fixed with a thin wipe of PVA of the track surface! We now have a hump back bridge!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Frustrating locomotive and incompatible tracks The electric locomotive does not move easily without the batteries. This product is labelled as for 2-5 year age category. Although our 2-year old loves pushing trains along tracks, he doesn’t yet understand the electronics. It is not a nice experience for him without batteries and with them he gets frustrated at the (in his perception) random start /stop behaviour of the train. As a parent, it is also very frustrating that the train tracks (in particular the bridge in a separate set) are not compatible with ‘my first number train’ or some other trains and vehicles currently available. In my opinion it was a mistake to phase out the locomotive without electronics.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth buying This train was purchased for my then 2 year old to replace the older style Duplo train that we'd had for about 4ish years that was great but had stopped working. So we had heaps of tracks including the bridge. We are not at all impressed with the new train. The batteries don't sit in properly so it doesn't work sometimes, its difficult for him to turn on (when the batteries do sit in properly), it has no power to tow one wagon up the bridge (the old one did 4 no worries) and just ends up with a frustrated child (his big brother 6 doesn't like the new train either). Even with the new features it's not worth the trouble, its hardly been used.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Strong Enough Motor I bought this together with the Train Bridge and Tracks (10872) and the engine with an empty car can't make it to the top of the bridge 30%-40% of the time. When using the app, the motor is noticeably weaker and stops 90% of the time before reaching the bridges's top. The tracks+bridge were setup on a flat, solid surface. Fresh AAA Energizer batteries were used. This is just nitpicking on an otherwise amazing set.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as previous trains My 2-year old loves the previous issue motorised Duplo trains since he can push them along by himself, or use the big green button to start them going and stop them as he pleases. On this new train, however, you can't push it along by itself - it will always start running, which limits his play options. (It also requires quite a shove which will also sometimes move and therefore break apart the train tracks it is resting on). Also, weirdly, it doesn't auto-power down when left idle - it just sits there, not moving, but draining its battery unless an adult thinks to turn it over and notice the blue light. Maybe it powers off eventually, but it hadn't after a few hours of not being used. The bluetooth app is not an essential part of the toy, but is poorly designed for very young children since only a small part of the phone interface is given to the train control, so the distance to move from full speed forward to full speed reverse is tiny (and on a modern iPhone is also near the edge of the screen and thus triggers other parts of the OS interface). Overall I find it hard to believe this has had much testing at the lower end of its target age range, since it's natural for little kids to want to push along their trains themselves sometimes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome train This is an awesome set. In particular the app that allows to control the train is a lot of unexpected fun. It controls the train movement, honks, reacts to action bricks - it offers minigames that feature other parts of the set. It would be nice if the manual about the electric train was more detailed - it seems to have features. Such as one axle is motorized and the other has a motion sensor. So making the train run, it is actually easier to slightly lift the back wheels and push rather than just push. It was a little tricky to properly insert the batteries but they seem to last quite a bit. The train seems to have quite a bit of power and can pull several pieces. It would be good to have two green action bricks - then the tracks could be linear rather than a loop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great first train Got this for my 4 year old girls. They loved it and so did I. Action block and app make for interactive play. We use it as a center piece for the rest of our Duplo themes.
