Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Set with a few missed opportunities Major Maniac here reviewing the battle of Avenger's Station set. As I continue to critique sets, I want to be clear as to how I critique them and what I am looking for in a set. For instance, with a set featuring a vehicle like the Quinjet, I look for room for all of the intended minifigs, compartments or places for their accessories, and special features of that vehicle. For a set featuring a building like this; I look for function of the building, design, and special features. For both types of sets though, I also look for overall playability. So lets take a look at the Avenger's Station. The function of the station is fairly well balanced. It has a two story building with a fully functional garage attached to it. Just like I'd expect from a super hero compound, the entire building is packed with defensive systems which add to the playability. There are also nice features like the rotating communications dish, the front gate, and the tool station next to the garage. From a design perspective though, there are a few misses. The interior of the building has a conference room which is just boring. The coolest thing about the conference room is the rotating wall/door that leads to the bridge to the garage. The first floor features a since lab which is just a single computer station and a weird room that stores the infinity gauntlet. Again, there is nothing exciting about that. The garage portion however is really cool because the design incorporate a helipad on the top of that building. It also serves as kind of a front gate for the compound. Overall, special features are seriously lacking. What do I mean by special features? This is supposed to be a big battle scene, where are the exploding walls? We've seen that in past buildings. Why are there only two infinity stones in the gauntlet? Why is there only one outrider with Thanos. There are literally five avengers and only two bad guys. All of these items add up to the playability. As a kid at heart, the vehicles, minifigs, and stud shooters are great, but what takes the playability over the top are special features. Why not have a science station on the first floor featuring the quantum tunnel that has a trap door? A kid can pretend that the avenger on the platform just time traveled as it falls through the trap door. That's a special feature which allows a kid to build a story. Why not have the exploding walls as Thanos attacks? That again helps to build an imaginative story. When it comes to the playability, the bad guys are seriously over powered by the good guys. Having an outrider or chituari tank attacking with Thanos, would have made this set so much better. Add a few more bad guys. This is it, this is the endgame; make this the epic battle scene we need and want as kids and collectors. I could literally write a small paper on how I would have created this line of Endgame sets differently. Overall, this is still a good set. There are cool features that a kid will love. I think there are missed opportunities though that would have made it better. I give it a four because the building is still cool, the features are great, and you do get a lot of minifigs. It would have been a five if we at least had gotten more bad guys or an attack tank or something to help balance the good vs evil powers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from THIS SET HAS SPOILERS PAST THE HULK Gutted that I couldn’t wait to build this, knew it had got spoilers from the Hulk and Thanos being back battling the Avengers. The bigger suspected spoiler comes once you’re in the build. On the set is ok but pricy. But that’s what happens with licensed products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome So lets face it, nobody really bought this for the actual building, you bought it because it has the best minifigures, well i did anyway, but the building is actually pretty cool and has some cool features, i was also lucky enough to get a spare ant man, it defo worth the buy specially when you get the iron man set with it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing First let me tell you how well made these bricks are. The design is amazing and the time efforts of enjoying building with my 4 yrs old. i know it say 8 yrs old but my son loves lego and duplo . He got so excited for his lego superhero and he start playing with them as soon he woke up. Took me long to build because I was exhausted at the time. Overall recommend and follow the instructions. Thank you ,

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Underwhelming while not bad. I got this set for the stones and the Iron Man figure. I know it wasn't the best financial decision, but was unhappy with the costs of the individual mini figures. I thought the building looked nice, and figured why not. Once I had it I was surprised by how few pieces it has. The box is light and thin. I recently built the Ideas Friends set and that set was significantly more substantial for 40% less cost. Sadly the parts were very generic. I appreciate the gun metal grey studs, but there is a significant number of basic easy to find parts that were a disappointment. The build was simple, but I'm fine with that because its intended for a younger audience. As for the actual builds I appreciate thats its a location that actually was in the film, but the facade is where the similarities end. Its essentially a husk of a garage and a coffee table for an interior. The car and helicopter are not relevant at all and simply exist for kids. I wish they could have put less parts into that or had only one vehicle. That way they could have put more into the building that connected it to the film. They already had a good idea from Homecoming so I don't get what the challenge was there. The figures...I think they caught on that people like me buy sets just because they have an Iron Man. Then throw in repeats. Generic Hulk number what 5 or 7? No new mold just some different printing. Cap Marvel is a strait up repeat right? This is the flag ship set of the line? Thanos...Lego can make new moulds for random no named Star Wars characters or barely known DC figures, but the main villain of of the first 10 years of MCU cant get a more accurate mold? He looks like a Rugby playing cave troll. And whats with that hammer? They got it right(er) in the set from the year before with him. TL:DR Barely Different Iron Man with some tiny stones. Rest is just filler and Lego knows it. Just buy the figs and stones you actually want.
