Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the coolest sets! I am very impressed with this R2-D2 set. Having been somewhat disappointed in the sizes of the Star Wars helmet series, the size of R2 was much better than expected. A few things that would have improved the set would have been wheels (so you could roll R2 around improving the playability), having the "head" actually attach to the body but still able to rotate 360 degrees, and curved/rounded pieces to build a more domed-shaped "head". Overall, this one ranks in the top 3 Star Wars sets I have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing set This is an amazing set, it’s a pretty good size, has very cool features, and it’s just R2. I do want to say that this is probably not the best set for a beginner. However, if you are somewhat experienced you should definitely pick this up. Overall a very cool set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This IS the Droid You're Looking For! The descriptors "cute" and "coolest build ever" both apply. I had so much fun building R2. When my 70+ dad saw him he immediately invited himself to the table to join in on the build. When we finished, my husband immediately invited him into his office for display...he is only ON LOAN!!! Thanks Lego for creating such a fun and nostalgic build. Challenging but oh so rewarding!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coolest LEGO set I've ever owned! I'm sure the biggest reason for my joy with the set is due to how much I love Star Wars, but it really was a cool build. The attention to detail and the engineering that went into this thing are super impressive. The one thing that felt slightly disappointing was how to reveal Luke's lightsaber hilt, which is just by prying off the hidden door on top of R2's head, whereas all the other hidden features have cool hidden doors or such (that don't need to be completely removed), but I still love it. 5 LEGO bricks and two thumbs up!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great minus one thing My husband and I enjoyed building this R2-D2 as our first project of Lego! Super fun build but after it was finished the feet are a little wonky and the middle leg/foot doesn’t always come out smoothly or lay flat. A little finesse is needed to get they to lay flat. Other than that we enjoyed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really only started building with Lego at the start of the pandemic and I would say this is the first set I have purchased that actually took me some time and caused me some nervousness after looking at the booklet that came with it. I will say that once I actually started building the product though I found it to be very enjoyable and full of really great details. I especially enjoyed the building of his head with the periscope and little hiding spot for the lightsaber. Overall really happy with my purchase and interested in tackling some other projects like this one in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pretty good I think the set sacrifices a bit too much aesthetically in order to cram in play features. For example, the head loses some symmetry for the lightsaber compartment and there are two levers that awkwardly jut out the back to open the front hatches. Overall, it's great to look at, but as an Ultimate Collectors Series set, it's primarily a display piece, and I would rather it look good than be filled with play features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great R2-D2 Lego Build Life long Star wars fan, except the Soul Crushing episodes 7-9, but this is a different story. This R2-D2 is the Largest Lego set I have ever built. Leisurely built over 5 nights with me & my Lady for about 18 hours total. It was a very fun build and R2 has some great features. He is quite sturdy and stands on 2 legs just fine. The 3rd leg mechanics are very interesting and I like it a lot. On some smooth surfaces R2 can slip back upright instead of leaning on its 3rd leg when extended. You lift R2 slightly and then lean him back and the 3rd leg will extend down on its own. Then to retract Leg, lift him up slightly and tilt body upright and push the third leg up into body to lock back into place. The periscope that comes out of his head in the back left corner is pulled up by hand and then turn it to lock it in the up position. Has 360 degree movement. Then turn it to lower it back in place. The front right corner piece is removable to pull out the mini Lightsaber that is loose in the little cubby in his head. Wish the gold grill on lightsaber was better attached as it is a 2 stud grill attached on 1 stud. The two push switches on his back pop open the front vertical doors and push the arms out 1/3 of the way up and you have to move the arms the rest of the way by hand. Both are extendable by about 2"connected by a smooth flag pole type piece that stops when fully extended. Both Horizontal blue hatches on the front open staggered to each other. Would have been nice to add flying Jets that pop out of the side of each side of legs. One sticker total for info Plaque and printed piece of Lucas 50th anniversary brick on the Plaque is nice. Plaque has the R2-D2 mini figure. Watch for correct size angled bricks as it is easy to use the wrong one sometimes from my build with him. Also the beginning build of head is delicate and is best built on table or carefully held until it is more sturdy, which it is once 1/2 way or more done with building the head. Very Enjoyable build and to display. It was fair priced as far as Lego goes. I would recommend to any older Lego Star wars fans and looking forward to other Lego UCS Star Wars Sets to Build in the future. Photo upload is broken. I tried many times and variations of photos to meet specifications and still error has occurred.
