Rated 4 out of 5 by from 4 year old loves it! My 4 & 6 year old really enjoy this puzzle. My 4 year old requests to work puzzle over and over again. They have both picked up memorizing the states quickly and easily. The board is sensitive and will go off if you put wrong state on it, which is not a huge deal if you are working puzzle with them. The only thing I don't like is they combined several states(I.e KY/TN, SC/GA and all the tiny states together on one piece.) That is confusing to little ones as they don't realize they are different states as its all on 1 piece. That was disappointing

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Learning Tool Our 4 year old son loves this puzzle. He now knows where he lives and where family lives across the country. We dislike how some of the small New England states are grouped onto a single piece. This causes all of the names to be read at once. Also, some of the pieces are difficult to remove individually. It would have been helpful to have small pegs attached.Overall, this is a great puzzle, loads of educational fun, and highly recommended.[...]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Such a disappointment! We have LOVED every Melissa & Doug product we have ever bought, and that is a lot! This one is was such a bust. The sound is activated by covering the light sensor. Our puzzle is SO sensitive that when you reach across the puzzle to place your piece the shadow of your arm activates a random state. It was so bad we had to take the batteries out. We still use it, but I could have paid a lot less for puzzle without the sound feature.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Favorite Puzzle We purchased this puzzle for my daughter's 3rd birthday. This has become her favorite puzzle and toy. We played with her and helped her identify the states and where they go. She's owned the puzzle for about 3 months now and can put it together by herself and can verbally identify about 90% of the states. She has trouble with the New England states where CT, NH, VT, MD, DE, NJ, RI are comblined on one piece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great puzzle! My 3 year old son loves this puzzle. He learned all the capitals and states in a month. If we give him a state he'll give us the capital. If we give him a capital he'll give us the state. It was absolutely amazing that he could learn all 50 states in such a short time. It was so much fun for him to learn. He plans on sharing this puzzle with his little sister when she gets a little older. Fabulous puzzle!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Learning on their own My six year old learned all the capitals and states without any effort. He just really enjoyed working on the puzzle. As he added the pieces, he heard the state and capital name and before long, he knew all of them to my surprise. I wish there were other puzzles like this for older children (countries & capitals, Geography, science, etc.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good but not great The cut outs should be more precise to the state (some are literally cut in half), and each piece should have a way to know the differance between the state. For instance if I put NC on TX it should'nt say "Texas and the capital is Austin". Otherwise, good quality product. Not cheap and will last through multiple kid's learning journies

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great toy for my kindergarten students! I got this puzzle to use with my kindergarten students and they absolutely love it. It's very interactive and meets the needs of visual, kinesthetic, and aural learners. Within a week, they were able to tell me some of the names of states and capitals. Thanks Melissa and Doug, for a truly awesome product for teachers and students!
