Melissa & Doug
Rated 2 out of 5 by Jean Q. from Love Melissa and Doug, but not this train set. Got both of my sweet sons a train set for Christmas, and like other reviews, the stilts are very wobbly. In addition to the stilts not being suitable for 3-5 year old developmentally appropriate play, one of the instructions sets we followed didn't even allow for the trains to go under the tunnels. The trains were made too big. So the only way to use them is by doubling up on the stilts. This just leads to frustration as little hands and bodies easily knock them over due to poor stability. I'm just really disappointed. We've always looked to Melissa and Doug for quality toys and this is kind of a huge let down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by H Dizzle from 3 years later and still a daily toy My daughter was 2 when I requested this and now she's 5 and able to play with her little brother who's 2. The tracks don't stay together--or at least they fall apart really easily if they get bumped and are elevated into some kind of cool bridge design. I bought some little plastic clips called Sure Track and the problem is solved. I do most of the track building, and then my kids go to town, but they also enjoy building their own "roads" through the house. The magnetic bits are a lot of fun. We did get some Thomas trains since the kids are obsessed, and of course they work perfectly with this track.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Nana from Nice railway set We bought this for our 4 yr old grandson who loves trains. The set is well made but it took us nearly 30 minutes to set up one of the suggested patterns. There's no way our grandson will be able to do it himself. Once it was built it was pretty unstable as the blocks holding up the bridge and curves and such get knocked over easily. Our grandson loves it but I can see some frustrations ahead when the tracks won't stay together or get knocked over as he's playing. We actually discussed choosing a pattern and gluing the whole thing together lol! Over all I think it's a good purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mike from The best gift ever This was the best present ever last Christmas for our children aged 2-4. They play with it for hours and just don't want to stop. I have known these train sets from my youth and I played with it for many many years. Can't get a better cost benefit than that! No other toy compares in versatility and cost effectiveness. I know these sets from Europe where "Brio" was the best known manufacturer. They just went bankrupt due to the financial crises. Go get one of these sets, you will not regret the hours and years that your kids (and their friends!) will play with them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kelly from dissapointed but made work We were so excited about this train set. It is a great set but it does not stay attached when played with. My daughter is two and destroyed it within minutes which was disappointing since it took so long to put it together. We put on our thinking caps and put the 3m command strips under every piece so it was attached to the train table. Make sure you leave the tab sticking out so when you are ready it easy to take apart. The raised tracks will not stay together if you don't do something like this to make it more sturdy. Other than that its a great track.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nana Gail from This track is well loved! I purchased this for my grandson last Christmas. He had just turned two. He is at my house several times a week and there has not been a time that he has been here that he has not played with his train. He has a set at his house made by another company with battery operated trains and he has no interest in that set at all. Another nice thing is that he can use other trains on his set, as well as some cars and trucks! Melissa and Doug spurs his imagination. I am sure I will be purchasing more add-ons this Christmas.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Grayzilla's dad from Instability? My son is now a Godzilla wanna be with how fast he demolished the set up. The supports don't do much raside from bracing where the pieces of track join. Any small nudge, even by my adut sleeve, knocked pieces over inadvertently and easily. As he grows and I can make alterations to make it more secure, may have to go away into the box. I might add, this was obtained as an AirMiles reward here in Canada, not purchased through a retailer. However, same product, same flaws.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FA & ME from Awesome Imaginative Play Santa brought this gift for Christmas 2010! Our two girls have had endless fun with creating tracks. We started off using the examples provided, and now we love to do our own. The Melissa and Doug train set provides hours of endless fun for our entire family. What a great way to use imagination and let the television and computer take a break!!! This toy was well worth the price. Who'd have thought that girls would LOVE trains?!? We are so glad we made this purchase!
