Strider - 12 Sport Balance Bike, Ages 18 Months to 5 Years, Blue

Encourage your child to ride with a Strider Bike. When learning to ride, a child must be allowed to experience the feel of leaning and how steering affects the balance of the bike. When a child learns to ride without leaning, such as on a tricycle or bike with training wheels, they aren't really learning to ride at all. With the help of a balance bike, the child can learn how to balance and ride a bike in the most simplest way.
Rated 5 out of 5 by ABarthel from Perfect for our toddler We bought a Strider for our daughter's second birthday. We appreciated that it was the perfect size for her & that it will grow with her for several years. We also feel like we made the right choice picking Strider over a trike or bike with training wheels because she can manipulate it by herself; if we had chosen a trike or bike with training wheels she would have had to learn to peddle, which can be difficult for a tot. Learning to balance first, peddle later just made sense to us & she LOVES her "oranges" bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by YourNameHere from My daughter loves it We purchased the Strider Sport for our daughters 2nd birthday. We were concerned she might be a little young and might lose interest quickly. However, that was not the case; she has played with her Strider every day since. Just one more thing for those concerned about assembly it was very easy to assemble.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Grandma Margaret from Amazing Bikes I have taught a lot of kids how to ride bikes. I bought two Strider 12 Sport bikes for my almost 3 year old twin grandsons. They took off like crazy kids. A year later they are pros and this is still their favorite activity! We are on our second set of wheels and our 10th pair of shoes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Granny nanny from Well made... My 2 yr old granddaughter loves her pink bike. I do wish you had a basket in the accessories because she loves to bring her stuffed dog for a ride. Called and your representative said to buy one at a store but it was tough to make it fit. Would have been easier if you had one available.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MomBlogger from Wonderful Product - helped my daughter! My youngest has been scared of riding her big kid bike without training wheels, but is more than old enough to learn. When I received the STRIDER bike for review - they thankfully sent an additional seat with a longer/taller adjustment for her to use since she was 5 when she first started riding her STRIDER. After just a few weeks of riding around in our driveway and down our street on the STRIDER, she asked if I would help her ride her big kid bike. She started pedalling within just a few moments of my help and now rides like a pro! It only took her one afternoon of practice and she was off down the street on her own. All it took was a little time on the STRIDER learning to balance, and get the confidence she needed! I love this STRIDER bike and highly recommend it for all young ones to start riding on. I wish we had used one much sooner as I honestly believe she would have been riding a pedal bike much sooner if she had first learned on a STRIDER instead of training wheel. Now, she has just today moved up a size of bike and is tearing up the neighborhood with her sister and friends and has even asked when our family can all go on bike rides together. I now have a hard time keeping her home, she is always off on her bike somewhere - Thanks STRIDER! *I received a free product for my review - however all my reviews are my personal and honest opinion!

Rated 5 out of 5 by kiltguy2112 from Balance Bikes Work! We bought the 12" sport for our daughter 2 yrs ago. She has now outgrown it. We bought her a pedal bike this weekend, and in 12mins. she was off peddling on her own. The Strider hands off system is great, it really made learning to ride a bike fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anne from Perfect for Special Needs! Our son has special needs including motor apraxia, which means he has great difficulty imitating learned purposeful movements. His balance is a struggle, too. Even at age 5 1/2, I still need to physically support his body in some respects as if he were an infant. We have a tricycle for him and while he can balance sitting on it and do seated walking, he is so far unable to coordinate the movements to pedal it. At school they say he can do up to 5 revolutions on his own, but there, his feet are strapped to the pedals and at home they are not. Size-wise, this 12" Sport bike is perfect since our son is about the size of an average 3 yr old. He has Down Syndrome; it's normal for him to have shorter legs, so he will fit this size bike for a long time to come! Features I like: •Smaller handle bars! His fingers are shorter than average, too, and he can actually grip the Strider handle bars. •Narrow seat - with his low muscle tone, he has a very small rear end and narrow hips. The narrow seat helps him to focus on balancing. •Padded handle bar. Kids are accident prone, and having motor apraxia makes it even moreso. My son also used to have Infantile Spasms (benign myoclonic seizures) which would throw his head/upper body forward violently, which caused him to slam his little head into anything in his way. While he hasn't had a seizure in over 4 years, that parental fear never goes away. •Easy size adjustments! The quick-release clamps are super easy to work with, making size adjustments a snap! •Wheels - the Strider balance bike's wheels will NEVER go flat. One less worry! It took him a few tries over the course of two days to learn to hold the bike upright by himself for Standing Walking. Once he had that mastered, he had fun intentionally crashing into EVERYTHING in the house with the biggest smile on his face! Boys. Gotta love 'em!! So far he's having too much fun with Standing Walking to move onto Seated Walking, but I'm glad it's getting to be winter so he can master the balance bike inside the house (where I can keep a close eye on him!). Then it will be so much fun for him to ride it outside next spring! My husband loves bike riding and I know he hopes to be able to have our son ride along with him someday. *Free bike provided in exchange for review*

Rated 5 out of 5 by Michelle23 from Great gift! We bought this bike for our grandson, but he hasn't had a chance to use it yet, it's for Christmas. However we have talked to so many who have one and they do not have any complaints, so we are excited to see what he thinks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tori from Love!!! We got this bike for my (then) 18 month old daughter and she absolutely loves it. It was incredibly easy to assemble and within 10 or 15 minutes, she was riding around, turning, stopping and backing up with confidence.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Melly from Makes the transition to a bike a breeze My boys were given a strider bike for Christmas & cruised around the kitchen & hallways with it that winter. By March my 4 yr old wanted to try his bike without his training wheels & like an old pro, he took off! No dramatic wobbling or tears or us pressuring him to do it. He just took off like he had done it a thousand times! I didn't really understand what was so great about them before we had one. But now that I know, we drove 3 hours to do the Strider Cup with our 2 yr old!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fuki Suki from No Stress! While shopping around to figure out what bicycle I was going to purchase for my 20 month old grandson I discovered this gem. How I wish that this bike had been available for my children to use when they were tots, because it would have saved many tears being poured over the use of "training wheels". THANK YOU Strider Sports International for providing an opportunity for my grandson to avoid the tears and anxiety his mother went through while learning how to ride a bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Zeee from Excellent Bike! Our four year old had been riding a bike with training wheels but couldn't get a hang of it once we took the training wheels off. After only a week on the Strider bike, he was able to ride a regular bike with a lot of confidence and speed! If he had not tried the Strider bike, it would have possibly taken him months to master the balancing. Our two year old is now using it and loves it. This bike completely takes the frustration out of the learning to ride process.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Boymom from Only regret is not getting one even sooner I bought this for my son for Christmas, just a few weeks shy of his 2nd birthday. He loves it and rides it around the house until it gets warm enough to take it outside. He's already balancing at times when he gets enough glide to pull his feet up. This bike makes the balancing part such a natural transition. Wish I would've gotten it even earlier!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Armstrongzoo from Beautiful bike, easy assembly, well made We got this for our grandson for his 2nd birthday. We got it in blue-a beautiful color. The bike went together super easy and is really well constructed. It’s the perfect gift for an active two year old. He was on it in a flash. It’s one of those great toys that will last a long time, utilizing his current abilities but with plenty of room for growth, mentally and physically. I love a toy that utilizes both mind and body. Thanks for a great product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by J Smith from Great bike for a toddler I brought this for my son's 2nd birthday. He always wants to try to ride various bike's or tricycles when we go to our playground but he's still too small. We heard about this from another parent & after checking them out on the website we knew right away we had to get one. We've only had it for a day but he loves it. It gives him a sense of freedom & independence & he feels like a "big boy" . I only gave it 4 stars because we haven't had it long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Vee t from Love it! My older daughter (now almost 6) got a balance bike at age two and learned to ride right away. She was balancing herself after about a week. At first she walked the bike because she did not understand she could sit on it and move her feet to make it go. In no time she was ridding around with me while My husband and I would run. Eventually she was ready for a bike with peddles she was just fine. Never needed training wheels. I wouldn't recommend investing in a balance bike only to turn around and put your kid on a bike with training wheels anyways. After all that said, our youngest is now 18 months and we just got her strider balance bike!!! Was so excited to get it open and put her on it!! She tried it and at the first stage if figuring it out. With our experience with the first balance bike, she will be speeding around in no time on it :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jonesag07 from Amazing! We bought our son a Strider for his second birthday. He can zoom on it and has so much fun. We recently put him on a bike with pedals (he is now 4) and he has never fallen. He started pedaling immediately with no problems balancing. We would have put him on a bike with pedals earlier, but he is so small and it was hard to find a bike small enough. We will definitely be get our daughter a strider for her second birthday.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mns719 from We love this bike! I bought this for almost 3 year old for Christmas and definitely wish that I had gotten it for him sooner! He absolutely loves it! He started riding Christmas morning and by the end of the day he was going down the small hills in our backyard without tipping over. I definitely recommend this bike and will make sure that all of my friends with small children have one before they even think about a tricycle :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ashley from So much fun We just got the Strider last weekend for our 2 year old. From the moment we got home he hoped right on the bike and went. He goes through puddles, on hills, and even took it on the merry go round with him. Our son loves the bike and really wanted to do the race in St. Cloud but it didn't work out. I think there needs to be more Strider races for the kids. But even without them, our son is having a blast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jonathanj from best balance bike out there both my 1.5yr old and 4yr old learned balance on the strider. the bike is well built, easy to adjust for their different heights/reach and a great platform to learn on for when they are ready to start a pedal bike. i recently discovered pump tracks with them and they are having the time of their life. i wish i had these when i was kid. skip the training wheel headaches, and start them on a strider!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tresmommy from Great for my active son! My 21 month old son received this bike two days ago for Christmas and has only put it down to eat and sleep. He got on it and was off riding with his first encounter. I was skeptical to purchase because of naysayers saying it would be a waste of time and money. They couldn't have been more wrong it was money well spent. Tre loves it and rides indoors and outdoors and that makes this mom very happy

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gramma Barb from Only A Strider Would Do! Our youngest son Jack is an avid biker who has gifted his siblings' kids with Strider bikes while they were very young. Now that Jack has a son of his own, we knew the perfect Christmas gift for Ollie would be a Strider, although Ollie is only ten months-old! Jack selected the Strider, I (Gramma Barb) ordered it, and the bike arrived for Ollie the next day. Great service, great bike, so fun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing bike from Amazing!! I bought the strider bike 2+weeks ago for my 3 yr old son and 5yr old daughter. Both ride bikes with training wheels but I can not get the training wheels off. It took my son 1 day to get his balance and my daughter is still working on it but what a difference in control of riding a bike. I wish I would have purchased the strider earlier but it works, I already see a huge difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by tandj from Great Company with a great product! This is the second Strider bike I have purchased. We had to purchase a new bike after the first was run over by a car. The new bike was shipped quick and came easy to assemble. My almost three year old loves it and has learned quickly how to ride. He easily balances and turns, riding the bike everyday. I plan to purchase a third for my daughter in a couple of months when she turns 2.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ts dad from Can't wait for my little dude to stride I bought this bike for our 20 month old son. Being a former bmx and mountain bike rider I can say this bike made very well. It was super easy to assemble and looks great. Would be a 5 star review if I didn't have to make my own Kawasaki branded bike. I was a little disappointed they had every motocross brand except Kawasaki. Other than that I love this thing and hope my son does too.
