Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the World Adventure Theme! I received this set for free in exchange for an honest review. I was really excited to get the chance to review this set. My son enjoys playing with wooden trains and this looked like a fun new set. My son has been really into learning about different countries recently, so he really liked the Big World Adventures theme. He loved "traveling" to the the different country areas (China, India, and Australia). He also liked the included animals. I feel like the theme of this set with the animals and country landmarks like the Great Wall of China make it stand out as a unique set from other wooden train sets that we own or that I have seen before. When I asked him, he said "the countries" were his favorite part of the set. He also like having the rescue plane included in addition to a train. It kept his attention for a good amount of time when we first opened it, and he went back to play with it the next day too and has kept it out on his train table. Overall, I think the quality of both the wood and plastic pieces seems to be good, even against a boy like mine who likes to "crash" things apart. I wasn't worried about anything breaking easily. It was also pretty easy to assemble. My just turned four year old was able to do it almost all by himself with just a little help and guidance. I do wish that the wooden pieces were compatible with other "standard" wooden train sets on their own instead of being a proprietary style. I did appreciate that they at least included a couple adapter pieces though. My son added on some of his other tracks, and they worked fine. I wouldn't have minded seeing a little more included with the set, but overall it is a very fun and unique wooden train set that my son really enjoyed getting. It would make a good addition to the wooden train collection for any kid is a fan of Thomas, animals, and/or learning about the world/travel. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall a nice set I like that this set is compatible with other wood block track systems as two adaptors were provided in this set. That’s nice to not have to purchase adaptors separately. I also really like that it’s made from sustainable wood. Its nice to know that a product has nature’s best interest in mind. The track pieces are very smooth. I don’t have to worry about my son scratching his fingers or getting splinters. The track is designed in a way that makes it pretty easy for little hands to put together. With little assistant from me, my 3 year old son was able to put the track together himself. He did need help with the bridge wall pieces as they were a little difficult to fit into the risers. The animals that come with the set are two monkeys, one kangaroo, one panda, and one crocodile. The animals are really cute and I understand they need to be small so they can ride in the train car. The animals heads can be lowered so they can travel around the track without falling out of the train car. And one nice thing about the train car is that the back folds down so the animals can “walk” in easily. My son had no difficulty pulling it down or pushing it back up. My son also thought it was cool how he could hang the monkeys by their tails onto the palace. Even though the train set is really cute and colorful it does have a few things that could be fixed. The train engine and train car magnets sometimes lose their connection easily, especially when going around curves on the track. Also when attached to the train engine, the train car’s wheels lift off the track easily which makes it go off the track completely, especially during turns. My son just kept fixing it but over time I can see how having to reset the train engine and car on the track would become frustrating for him. The magnets on the plane and lift carriage could also be stronger as they detach easily. And it would be nice to have a magnet on the seat of the plane and the bottom of the doctor so she wouldn’t fall out easily during play. My son likes to “fly” the plane around but the doctor often falls out, depending on how he holds the plane. The one component of the set my son really wasn’t fond of were the bridge wall pieces. After playing a while my son decided he didn’t want the bridge walls on. He said they make it difficult to steer the train engine and car and that they get stuck. So he preferred to play with them off. He also said he wished things made sounds. All in all this is a cute train set, but it is rather small. I think if it were the first train set my son ever played with he’d be more into it. He has other sets that are a little more interactive and I think he prefers those. I also think this set might be better suited for a younger toddler. However, it’s been several days now and my son hasn’t wanted to take it apart. He plays with it on and off and incorporates his other toys into imaginative play with it. I’m sure it would be even more fun when connecting it with other sets.
