All wooden pieces should have image on both sides.
The rug itself is super cute and the wooden play pieces are beautifully shaped and sized for small hands. What would improve this would be for ALL of the play pieces to have the image on both sides. It's such a shame that the buildings are only decorated on one side whereas the animals and people are visible on both side of the pieces I bought the set to have at my house for my niece's little ones to play with when they come over. I noticed several times that one child would turn the piece around if the image wasn't facing him/her - and then sometimes the other child would reposition the piece so the image was then facing him/her all over again. For the price of the set, it seems one could expect all the pieces to be painted/printed on both sides.

This is the perfect gift for any child.
Purchase was made for 2yr old grandson. When opened, he and the other older children played right along side him. The package included a great assortment of wheeled vehicles of all types. This is the perfect gift for all seasons. It can be used indoors or outside on a flat surface. It would be nice if the rug was a little more durable in thickness and a tad larger. It is easy to roll up and is not heavy. And it will travel well. A great product for parents to get down on the floor and have some together time with their children. Also great for eye/hand coordination.

This product gives hours of fun
My grandson already had the smaller Melissa & Doug rug play set, and he loved it. I bought him this one to go with it. He is delighted. He is only 2 1/2 years old, and it keeps him occupied for hours. He loves the cars and trucks. He adores the stop sign. He calls it by name and knows that its shape is an octagon! I taught him the sound that the wrecker makes when it backs up and pulls a car out of an accident, so he plays that. He makes siren noises for the firetrucks and ambulances. He calls it his Beep Beeps, and is well worth the investment.

I would definitely recommend this town set to others.
I gave this to my grandson for Christmas. Right away he wanted to set up the town and drive his little cars and trucks around the road. He wanted his dad to come play, too. The one thing I might recommend would be a storage container for the little pieces, otherwise I can see how it would be easy to lose them. When I babysit him, it will be fun to set up the town with him. So a good toy for cooperative play.

Great way to use imagination!
This rug is a bit pricey but worth the money. The rug is on the smaller side but it is perfect for rolling up and taking from room to room. It comes with A LOT of wooden pieces. We store the pieces in a basket and roll the rug. My daughter is able to take it from room to room and play with it. She loves it and It's a great way for her to use her imagination. Even my older ones like to play with it. Another great product from Melissa and Doug!

Great for imagination play!
My 2 year old granddaughter spent 2 solid hours the first time she played with this! Suggestions would include paint on both sides of buildings, better hitch for the tractor/wagon, including some children pieces, and more fencing.
