Got this game for my son, only to find after playing for about 20 minutes that the "dad" wasn't going to pop up at all, it was broken. My poor son was so frustrated, this toy is cheaply made, and way over priced, buyer beware !!

My 4yr old loves to play games. This game is easy to understand and doesn't take too long to play like some other games. It's fun as well.

Arrived in perfect condition a day & a half after ordered & I only paid standard shipping. I experienced the same thing with two more orders. One of the orders was for an Imaginext Dragon that was out everywhere else so not only did Toys R Us have it- I didn't have to battle crowds & it arrived in great condition a few days after placing the order. Just in time for Christmas!

This has been the most entertaining preschool game I've played yet. The game style provides for a much less predictable game than others (Candy Land comes to mind) as you are never "out" of the game until the very end; and it has the excitement of when you're pushing the alarm clock hoping that Daddy won't be woken as he could potentially pop up with any push of the alarm clock (has a Russian roulette feel to it, but much more preschooler friendly). I was impressed with the usage of the cards, which contain pictures of obstacles found on the board. Before you begin the game, you pass out the cards to all players and they remain faced up. When it is your turn, you spin the color board (which contains a star space, which will advance you to one space ahead of the person currently in the lead - leaving a huge opening for a comeback) and then move to the next space matching the color spun. If there is an obstacle on the space you landed upon, you check your cards and to see if you have the obstacle. If you do - no action required, and you keep the card as well. If you do not, you will have to push the alarm clock the number of times indicated on the obstacle space. If you wake Daddy, you must return to the very beginning - a bonus is that the person who has the card that matches the obstacle you landed on must give it to you, thus granting you immunity to the same obstacle in the future. One final thing, it really is random to how many pushes of the alarm clock it takes to wake daddy - he's popped up in two pushes, eight and even as many as 20+, so it keeps the player on edge with every push of the alarm clock, creating a fun tension. If you want to break free of Candy Land, Don't Wake Daddy is the way to go.

There is no reading required, though recognition of numbers, colors and matching (obstacles on board to obstacles on card, no memorization required) is necessary. A game can usually be finished within 15 minutes tops. The game is more complex than the likes of Candy Land, but far more rewarding and most preschoolers should have a very firm grasp on the concept by their second play through.

This is such a fun game for kids of all ages. My grandchildren aged 5-11 all enjoy it and play it every time we get together. It's so great to watch their faces as they push the button, not knowing if they are going to wake up Daddy on their turn! And then again when Daddy IS woken up!! We owned it once before, but it was lost in a move. We loved it enough to replace it. I highly recommend this game.

Super fun game for children of all ages and adults. Kids love it. Would definitely reccomend for families with small children although my older children it enjoy it too.
