Rated 5 out of 5 by from Genius We are really enjoying his microscope. I love watching my son take his toy cars and examine them under the microscope. The microscope encourages exploration and discovery. When he finds something interesting, he will call mom or dad to also take a look. I enjoy the interaction the microscope toy allows for us to have as a family as well as allowing mom and dad to encourage more discovery. I hope it also grows him in focused time to sit still and he studies his toys under the microscope.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect first microscope! This is a perfect first microscope for toddlers! As a mom and an elementary school teacher, I am pleased with this product, because it helps little ones get excited about science! My 3 year old loves this microscope, and it is easy for her to look through. The eyepiece is similar to using binoculars, and the light is bright and works well. My 6 year old enjoyed trying it out, but a more sophisticated microscope with more powerful magnification would be better for that age group. Parents of toddler and preschool teachers- this would be a good choice!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I will not buy this product again! I bought two of these for our classrooms. One arrived broken. I returned one and the replacement arrived broken. Used the unbroken one for one day in the classroom and picked it up and it broke in my hand while carrying it. So disappointed as the students were very eager. The knobs are not strong. The part where the viewer attaches to the base is very flimsy and on all three occasions that is where they were broken. I want so very much to find a sturdy microscope for our students. Anyone have any suggestions where I can buy one that will hold up?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool, fun toy! My 3.5 yr old daughter loved this out of the box! She started putting her little pet shop animals on it and used it as a house. Lo and behold, I showed her we could do so much more with it! We started to view her little pet shop toys under the microscope and she thought it was very neat. Little scientific tools like these for toddlers are precious, in my opinion. It's a great way to encourage their inquisitive minds to go exploring. My 7 year old niece liked to play with it as well and if anything liked it even more than my daughter. We found a dead boxelder bug in the house and placed it in the microscope and they were fascinated looking at it under the microscope. Rating: 4.5 stars Pros: Simple to use, educational, reasonably sturdy construction, good toy to use with other toys Cons: Magnification could be better

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for little kids who like to examine and explore! We received this product free for review, and my 4-year-old son (who is a HUGE "Sid The Science Kid" fan) loved it right out of the box. In fact, he even took it to bed with him the first night. As a mom, I like how easy it is for him to use on his own and how durable it is (no worries about him breaking it for sure). I also like that it has a light to help him see the items better. The only constructive criticism I might have for the manufacturer is that the microscope is literally the only thing in the box. I understand they want kids to explore and come up with things to put under the microscope on their own, but it might be nice if there were some starter "slides" or objects included in the package to get them going, perhaps even with some questions they might ask themselves about each item to get their minds working/thinking/observing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Science is fun! We received this in exchange for my honest review. I was excited to get my 4 year old daughter started in the science field. Kids are naturally curious and love to learn. The microscope is easy to use and I am comfortable letting her walk around with it. It's solid plastic. It's brightly colored with all the basic parts of a regular microscope - lens, light, knob, etc. Children look through with both eyes and that's very helpful for little ones. The stage is big enough to place objects on it. I was struggling a little with what to have her look at. I was overthinking it. We tried a leaf and a few toys within reach. After she understood what to do she choose other objects to look at. I'm always happy to see when she randomly goes to her microscope to look at something. This is a fun first microscope and would make a cute gift for a boy or girl.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic First Microscope This is a great first microscope. My son received it for his sixth birthday, and I think it is perfect for his age group -- it is not too complicated and there are no small slides that can be lost, but it looks like and works like a real microscope (albeit very simplified). The knob is a good size and turns easily for kids that are still developing fine motor skills. He quickly figured out that looking at big plastic toys is not interesting, but that smaller more varieted items are really interesting. Even though he can see without the light, he particularly loves the light because he knows that microscopes used in labs have lights. Finally, the colors are very gender neutral but appealing to young kids.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We Love it! Preschool and Kindergarten kids are naturally curious about the world and what lives in it. Help your child get excited about learning with the GeoSafari® Jr. My First Microscope. This microscope can magnify any small object- flat or dimensional- at 8x. This is a real working microscope made just for little hands. It is designed specifically for kids, so it is built with rounded edges, big buttons and a large knob. Adisyn and my niece Dezi loves to find items to magnify throughout the yard and house. I love that she can hold it securely without it slipping away from her. It has an extra large eye piece so that she can see what she is viewing without squinting. It also has a large push-button light to help her see more clearly (3 AAA batteries are required to work the light). She feels so important being able to use a science tool all by herself. The magnification at 8x is perfect for her. We can study and learn about different textures of the outside and inside world. Whether it's buttons, bugs, blades of grass, flower seeds, small rocks, coins, etc. We've had a blast exploring in our own backyard, such a new experience for her.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect gift for an inquisitive 4-year-old! My daughter received the My First Microscope as a gift for her fourth birthday and she absolutely loves it! Parental plusses: 1. It's small and light and easily fits on our bookshelf. 2. It's made of a very sturdy plastic and rubber, so it's not breaking anytime soon. 3. The batteries (3 x AAA) are not included (bummer) but also not necessary to operate! 4. It doesn't make any noise, except a clicking to let the user know that it's reached the top or bottom height. 5. It's educational, right? Our experience: Anita opened it and asked what it was - "well, it makes stuff look bigger - you can look closer than you can normally." Then I showed her with a $20 bill - she was amazed! There is nothing about this beyond it's function that required explanation. She's been running around the apartment finding different stuff to put underneath, each item revealing a secret world that's normally just out of sight. It's hard to understand 8x zoom - it's certainly not impressive compared to something you would see at the science museum. It is, however, enough to show the fibers of a blanket which, for a curious 4 year old, is absolutely perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for your budding scientist My 5 year old loves this product. My 2 year old has not been able to break it either! We are planning a beach trip to pick up shells and other ocean debris to closer inspect under the microscope. It was super easy to set up and get going. I also think this will be a great birthday gift for friends children. Super fun, affordable but also educational.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good introductory microscope I like that it is lightweight so it's easy to carry around. We will start bringing it with us to the park so she can look for bugs, grass, sticks, etc. I also like that no batteries are required - only if you want to use the light. I think overall this is a good toy for a young toddler to get introduced to science.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great way to spark and nurture curiosity. My daughter loves this microscope. When she saw the box, she was already telling me "I'm so excited!" We've been gather all sorts of things to examine under the microscope and comparing shells and leaves. It's a great product to get kids excited about science and helps encourage curiosity. It is also sturdy enough that you won't cringe when it gets swept off the table by an enthusiastic kid. My daughter loves this microscope.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thumbs Up I was excited to have my granddaughter selected to participte in a hands on review of the GeoSafari Jr. My First Microscope (her first time learning the word microscope AND what they do!) For only being 3-1/2 years old, she was also excited about the new experience! She was patient and very interested as we collected specimens to examine under the microscope. The unit came fully assembled (great!) with only having to add the batteries for the light function. The instructions were very easy to explain to her (looking through the eye piece, using the knobs to adjust the magnification and using the light function.) She was very interactive, changing the items to view and manipulating the dials to adjust the magnification (she used the terms "bigger" and "smaller".) We discussed how the "teeth" on a house key got much larger and more noticeable when magnified; the same discussion happened when looking at the variegatation on some leaves off plants/trees ("squiggly lines"). The price and quality of this product are very good...and the excitement that it brought out was wonderful to watch. There will certainly be many more items to examine under her new microscope. She said she, "loved it" and gave it her personal, "thumb(s) up"!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun & educational - good quality and great value for money!! We just got this product only 4 days ago but already our kids love it. They have so much fun playing with and also we have been able to use it as a teaching tools so they can learn about different objects either in our kitchen or our backyard. It so reasonable but still good quality and we don't have to the afraid of them breaking it. Great value for money. We are very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It! This is a great microscope for young kids who just want to magnify things. I tried with a magnifier with my 3 year old daughter but she wanted a microscope like her big brothers. There are no slides or anything included other than the microscope, but it does require batteries so make sure you have those on hand. You can adjust the microscope up and down for bigger or smaller items and there is even a light, which is what the batteries are for. Its very basic but still cool. Its colorful, chunky, and durable as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great First Microscope My First Microscope from GeoSafari Jr is a great first exposure to help learn about simple science. My 3 year old grandson loves to put leaves, blocks, even stickers under the microscope to see how they look different with more detail. I love the fact that there are no loose parts to lose or swallow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Son loves it! My soon to be three year old loved this from the moment he saw it. He loves looking at everything!!! The only reason I did not give it five stars is I wish it had a few slides. Other than that, this is a perfect way of introducing some science in our home!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect sized microscope for little hands This is the perfect first microscope for toddlers/preschoolers. Both my 3.5 year old and 5 year old couldn't wait for their turn to look at things up close. I love how even the hand grip is perfect for their little hands and the LED light and magnifier helps for them to examine different things closely that they found around the house. They really enjoyed looking at their rock collection using the microscope and they mentioned how much clearly they can see using the microscope. With the weather (hopefully) warming up soon, we plan to go on a nature walk and collect some things that they want to look closely using their new microscope. The microscope itself is very durable and high quality and even though my 3.5 year old has been a little rough with it, it still works perfectly. I love that my kids are learning about science without even realizing it! I love getting not only my kids educational toys but I also try and buy educational toys for other kids' presents. This would be the perfect birthday and/or christmas gift and I love how it comes in two different colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved by our 3 year old My son absolutely loves this product! Spends so long drilling the screws in and out. He's going through a real love of letters so the letter cards it comes with have been a huge added bonus. Would highly recommend

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good for small kids What I like about this product is what you see is what you get. There aren't many bells and whistles which makes a small child able to use it very easily. My son is 3 and was able to figure it out with no problem, but got bored with it pretty quick. It's basically like binoculars on there making the items bigger. Not really anywhere near microscopic, and if he was 4 he'd be way to old for this. As a first microscope for a young child though I think it's perfect.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not very sturdy Should be fun for examining small objects with a toddler. However it is not well made. The front piece with the eye pieces fell off as I opened the box. The wires for the light are still intact so I will attempt to glue it so we can get a little use out of it. Since it was a gift I cannot return it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broke too easily First one was a gift and used for a little while before breaking very easily in a way that could not be fixed. Just got a second one and broke the same place within a few minutes of being out of the box. My child was very excited about this toy but sad when she can no longer use it.
