Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Counting and Color codeing item [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 2 yeard is learning her color and numbers, so when I brought this home to her she was very excited. Just from looking at the box she knew she had to count them. Once I opened them up she started stacking them and counting them and we went along. We also were able to match the colors to the cards that are provided. A very well put together learning tool that makes learning fun. It kept her attention for a while and wanted to play with it once she woke up the next morning. Defiantly one that we can use for years to come as she gets into school .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bright, Adorable, Fun! Great for numbers practice! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I brought home the Counting Owls activity set, both my girls ages 2 and 3.5 immediately studied the box. The packaging is creative, colorful and descriptive. I found these especially helpful for my 3.5 year old who is just learning her numbers and how to count. While we didn't "play by the rules," we did have a lot of fun at the kitchen table stacking, sorting and talking about the different combinations. The owls are well designed and durable. They are easy to wipe down if needed and they stack easily. Would highly recommend this game!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money The item only has enough owls to do 6 full stacks and 2 or 3 in the 7, which is useless if I want to teach my child to count to 10! Completely defeats the purpose of the toy! Also, the design is flimsy... Overall, disappointing. Expected better from Learning Resources

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT ENOUGH OWLS TO COMPLETE THE SET!!!! I had a student in my class have a COMPLETE MELTDOWN because there weren't enough owls to complete the set. She was stacking the owls and using one to one correspondence when counting. By the time she was on number 7 there were no more owls left. Poor design in my opinion (if you want kids to count properly).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Needs more owls and Cards 6 to 10 I'm quite disappointed that there are not enough owls to simultaneously complete stacking the owls from 1 to 10. There are only enough to count up to 6 with a few left over. The other disappointment was the cards included only go up to 5. This is a counting toy from 1 to 10 so it needs to be revisited and the necessary adjustments need to be made. I read quite a few reviews and almost all of them had the same complaint as I mentioned above. I really wish I had read the reviews but learning resources is usually a good product. I would not recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Vibrant Colors & Cute This is a high quality, sturdy set. The colors are bright and fun, and the activities help with basic sensory skills. The owls have a very snug fit, which promotes fine motor skills. This is a nice way to help assist in teaching colors, counting, and even patterning. The only drawback was the cardboard spinner was a little bent, but after a few spins, it worked ok! The numbers on the "wood" base were pretty scratch resistant. Even without playing the games included, these were fun to teach color recognition with. Super easy to keep clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bright colorful and fun The toy was packaged nicely in a very sturdy box and it was easy to open and close. Perfect for tidy storage. I was pleased to find that in the instructions there were several different ways to play. The best thing about this toy is the various ways to play will lead to it being a toy that can grow with my daughters. Certainly it will be a while before she can the adding and subtracting versions of the game, but for now the color sorting and pattern recognition games are perfect. She enjoys the bright colors and the ability to stack the owls. The one difficulty with the toy was that sometimes it was difficult to pull apart or connect the owls but this only occurred on a few owls. I would highly recommend this game. It is super fun and allows for growth and learning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! The 1-10 Counting Owls Activity Set is great! Our son is almost 3 years old (23 months), and loves this toy/ game. And, my husband and I both really love that it is totally educational, helping him with his counting skills, patterns, color sorting, etc. Learning Resources definitely knows how to make learning fun with bright colors and games/ toys that are perfect for little hands. Also, as a mother of 3 little ones I really appreciate that once I get my son started with this toy/ game, he is easily able to continue on by himself when I have to step away, etc. I love that this toy/ game is something that my son can basically play with on his own, or with someone else. I also love owls and just think this is incredibly cute! I highly recommend Learning Resources products; they never disappoint in our home!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute counting set with many open ended play options My daughter is a young 3 and she immediately started stacking the owls, sorting them, and arranging them on the base. It's a really cute, colorful set with adorable activity cards and spinner. I looked to the instruction guide for specific ways to play-there were several ways listed-but the wordy instructions were difficult to visualize. My daughter made up her own ways to play and had fun anyway! The activity cards are high-quality and the owls and base also look durable and easy to wipe down. I do wish the plastic material felt a little more premium, possibly with some texture or a little more weight. Another area of improvement is that some of the owls fit more tightly than the others and when my daughter pushed them down hard, the ears and beak of the owl made it a bit uncomfortable. Overall, I think it's a very cute counting toy for home and classroom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute and entertaining This is a very cute and colorful counting game. I couldn't really make heads or tails of the directions but we came up with our own ideas and it worked. I played it with older 3 year olds and they got the concept, however there are not enough owls in the package to complete the whole counting game. You can go up to 6 or 7 but then have to take it down to continue on to 10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cute and colorful owls help with math. The cute, colorful owls caught our attention right away. We started to freeplay instead of following the activity cards. The activity cards would add More structure to the activity. the set makes it easy to make play time more educational. It is easy to visualize patterning, sequencing, numbers, addition, and more with these owls.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from i would recommend this product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] we thought this was very colorful and loved the owls. The spinner was a bit difficult to make a full spin but still enjoyed it. Only had one issue where he pinched his fingers when putting one owl on top of another because it was tight, but I believe this will loosen up with use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great way to learn how to count [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son loved the fact that he could stack the owl's. He also had to try every game when we first opened it up. Over the week we have owned this he has asked me to site down and play with him not realizing that he is actually learning his numbers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun! My daughter enjoyed the owls in the Counting Owls Activity Set. She already knew her colors well, so she was able to make patterns with the owls using what she knew. We had fun counting the owls as we added them onto the number bar. The one problem we had was that the spinner did not work well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes learning a hoot with these counting owls! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fun, engaging, educational opportunities, but does definitely need adult involvement to take full advantage of learning activities as set forth in the Activity Guide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for the Basics This is a great product. Our little one was feeling challenged by numbers and this game has helped to remove the frustration. She's obviously a visual learner - just like me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great set! I received this product as part of an incentivized review program. My daughter has enjoyed playing with the brightly colored owls, and was instantly drawn to them, even in the box. Once we got them out of the box, she was happy to begin pulling them apart and trying to put them back together again, and she got the hang of how they fit together fairly quickly. My daughter is slightly younger than the recommended age and just beginning to learn her numbers, so many of the activities are too complicated for her right now (we're looking forward to trying them later, as they have some really awesome suggestions for use!), but her interest was definitely held as I stacked owls and counted them aloud. She can be a bit rough on toys, but I have a feeling this set will last us a long time, as the owls have already held up to some repeated banging and scattering (hey, they also make cool sounds!). They are the perfect size for little hands to grasp, so we've also been using them to practice putting things away, and counting as we go - this set comes with 25 owls, and it's nice to have more than ten of a toy so you can demonstrate counting into the teens and twenties. Overall, a simple but clever product with multiple ways to experience and play!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multi-use, fun activity set When I first received the Counting Owls set, it seemed appropriate for young children, probably ages pre-k through kindergarten, maybe even first grade. The packaging seems durable and slim enough that I will be able to store the game when not in use, and this was somewhat proven when my toddler stepped on it, and didn't damage it. My 4 through 9 year olds were each able to play with the game without reading any instructions; they sorted owls by color, made patterns, sorted owls by number by stacking them in place, and some addition practice. The owls stack together well, and hold together even when all 25 are stacked on top of each other. While the skill level is beneath both my six and nine year old, they still had fun playing with the owls and making patterns - for a little while. The set can also be used for addition and subtraction practice, which I plan on doing more with my pre-k daughter. Within the next few months, I anticipate that my toddler will be sorting the colors, too. The enclosed playing cards are a nice touch when children want to play alone, but there are only 5 counting cards and number cards to 5. As it is advertised a 1-10 counting set, I would have expected at least numbers up to 10! The set includes a simple spinner with the numbers 1-10 as an additional format with which to play. My children would have appreciated enough owls to stack each number at the same time, all the way from 1-10 (55 owls). Overall, I would recommend the game for younger children, to learn number awareness, one to one correspondence, and addition and subtraction practice. The colors are bright and fun, and the execution is cute: owls on a tree branch. Note: I received this product as part of an incentivized review program.
