Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this set This set is huge, the features are on par with real Liebherr cranes and the rigging is done similarly as well. It's super satisfying once all completed and I would highly recommend. I understand the price is high, but when you compare to other sets at this price point you'll see that this set is actually capable of moving and functioning under its own power unlike many others.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Agreed, too expensive, but still fun I read a lot of reviews, about as many negative reviews as I’ve seen on a Lego, agreed it’s way overpriced, I have no knowledge of real life crane, so no opinion there as to how it compares. I did enjoy the build overall, it was unique to other builds with the boom and all the strings. I also enjoy complex gear boxes which this did not have. The instructions weren’t the best, if I hadn’t had so much experience it may have been more of a struggle, why no more 1:1 comparisons on all the pages for beams and rods? I think it’s a good build if it’s in your budget, but it is most definitely overpriced, as one reviewer compared it to the Liebherr crawler loader , as much of a build for almost half the price. Agreed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intricately designed This set is amazing. It mimics the real life version of the Liebherr 13000 heavy lift crane. The power functions which can be controlled via smart phone make this an absolute joy to play with as well as teach basic concepts of weight and movement. Excellent tool for learning. The app does an amazing job of showing you load capacity, which will set off a warning if the machine is in danger of tipping. The crane moves effortlessly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Mightiest Crane of them All I really enjoyed this build. 6 motors and 2 smart hubs came together well. The threading of the cables wasn't too bad. All functions work well. Can lift a can of tuna with no problems. Money well spent!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big set with big expectations I have to admit when I first thought to buy this set I was torn between my love of heavy movers specifically cranes and the value of this set at such a high price for a low part count, but now that it’s home and put together and seen for the first time. It looks incredible and plays just the same. The shear size alone is impressive one of the largest techinc models I own, but the full functionality, payload, and playability easily make it worth the money. The use of the Lego control app has a big impact on the playability. Other fully functioning cranes tie you to the set, forcing you to switch gears to change functions. The added motors and single set of controls operated by Bluetooth give you full remote control flexibility without switching gears. Package this playability into a set that was fun to build and looks like a finished real world model throws my concern about value right out the door. An impressive model whose value lies in the enjoyment you have once you put it together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This one will challenge you I consider myself an expert builder, as I've built all the large Technic, Star Wars and Harry Potter sets. The Liebherr, however, is in a different league. It's not so much the complexity of the build, but you've really got pay close attention - super close attention - or you will end up with sore fingers as you try and go back and fix your mistake. It was a fun challenge, but there were a few moments were it did border on frustration. One of those had to be the first set of cabling (thread): the video was helpful, but moves a little too fast (note, too, the perspective of the video is from a distance, so it's hard to see which rung you need to run the thread over). I eventually figured it out, and the other steps involving cabling weren't as bad; still, it was frustrating. Also, the "Check Your Build" steps are nice, but they don't really indicate the amount of variability in what your model will look versus what is shown in the app (some bits of model were sagging/otherwise not perfectly straight as shown in app, so thought I'd done something wrong). Finally, the counterweights need to be secured: whenever you slightly move the crane they fall off -- this is really frustrating. Ultimately, I think this is a great set -- and a very big set, too (it dwarfs the Star Wars ATAT). Is it worth the high price? If you're a devoted LEGO fan, especially of large sets, I think you'll enjoy it. But this is most certainly not one for the meek!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Build! I was somewhat reluctant to spend so much money on this set. I know a lot of people judge the value of a set by piece count vs cost. It's expensive if you look at it that way. But I think some other factors come into play. There are 2 hubs and 6 motors. Quite a few by any standard. Also there are some new pieces included in this set. The build was challenging but still fun. I would recommend this set to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Challenge! I bought this for my husband he never has problems building lego's but this one was a challenge for him. He said the directions were all over the place he had to take it apart acouple of times and after 2 weeks of taking it apart and putting it back together it's finely done. It's a large crane and I hope he enjoys it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from finally something unique Contrary to the negative reviews mentioning that this set was missing all the gearing intricacies, I found this set to be finally something new from LEGO. I skipped so many large sets recently because I knew it would just be gearbox after gearbox after gearbox that I’ve built countless times, so this pulley system is not only fresh but it’s also teaching my kids something new when they observe this thing in action. Also most of the mechanics are on display instead of being hidden inside the model it’s just cool to see it all tick. My only criticism is that the ballast pieces were definitely odd; no studs, no holes, no beam integration… literally just chunks of plastic. No versatility to the pieces so I’m not sure what happened there in the design decision room. Also the last string of cordage that you need to rout may make you want to hang yourself with it instead but once you get through it… all worth it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Noises tracks Major complaint, NOISEY tracks that crack and pop as crane travels. Removed tracks and ran motors, worked fine and no noise, reinstalled tracks and lifted unit so no contact with ground, no noise while running. Placed crane on table or ground, ran under its own weight and tracks crack and pop while moving. This is why I gave it 3 star rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Build I bought that product prior to August 1 and I couldn't wait to get it. I couldn't believe how big it was. The build was great. There were some instructions that were a little tricky, but it came together great. I am really happy with the purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Build comments 1. Inadequate pictures - need to show lots more 1:1 images 2. Also need to show more “outline” of where pieces go - makes it more difficult than it needs to be

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Massive I really enjoyed building this crane. I hit a few snags during the process ( routing the strings correctly). Overall I think most builders will appreciate this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome finished product This build is quite impressive when completed. There are a few spots during the build that require a lot of attention as the instruction photos are a little hard to decipher. I had to backtrack a couple of times but it was worth it. It’s amazing to operate all of the functions after completion.
