Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Great Porsche Set! Obviously not as large as the GT3RS, but for 1/2 the cost it is more than 50% the size of it. I do wish the ride height was a little lower, but not a big deal at all.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Actual nightmare I'm an avid Lego fan, as is my husband, I've completed countless sets of all sizes with little to no trouble. We found this set and thought it would be a fun build together....we were very disappointed. Needlessly complicated. None of the packages are labeled or numbered, so you have to basically just dump out and sort through everything, pieces were very hard to locate, and the directions were very confusing and repetitive. Finished product was not very sturdy, felt very loose. That being said, after all was said and done, the design and features were very cool. But I will likely never buy another set from the technic series after this actual nightmare of a build.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No Numbered Bags! I would like to agree with the other recent reviews. We are 30 pages into the build and frustrated. We have pieces spread out all over a 3.5 x 8 foot dining table. Some pieces are in one bag and the remaining pieces of that size are in another. It is like Lego just threw random pieces in bags (10-12) with no purpose other that to have you spend all your time searching for pieces. How does one build this efficiently without a giant table. My son can’t reach the pieces so I walk around the table trying to find the pieces he needs. Very frustrating. I hope the Maclaren F1 car we just got him is not this way. Lego, you can do better for a car this expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I had a great time building this kit, it came together in well timed stages with functionality building first and then the asthestics coming together at the end. I built it over a few days during the holidays and really had to force myself to stop each time. Its a great looking kit and is very faithful to the real car.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT The Porsche 911 RSR is probably the best technic build I have ever seen. It's detail inside and out are incredible and when you finish building it it's an absolute stunner just like the Voltron model. I would recommend having the bags numbered to cut down on build time, especially for a 1500+ kit cause it takes time to build. I love the color combination and it's HUGE, the tires and rims are my favorite part. Everytime I look at it I feel like I'm on the SUPER SPEEDWAY. It's a definite all star.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Its okay I guess? [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The building experience was easy, and its got nice parts. The completed build is nice with the suspension. I spent about 20 minutes pressing it down and watching it bounce back up. My only gripe is the back wheels. They grind up against the chassis and i had to modify it in a way the could be considered an illegal build technique in order to prevent that from happening. Also since the car is tilted forward, the front bumper grinds against the ground which in real life would probably make it a nightmare to go up a bad slope. Overall its a nice build though, enough so that i dug through my collection and built it again for kicks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have for Porsche enthusiasts The detail on the RSR is great. Love the interior design like the actual race car and the operation of the flat six engine is a nice touch. Definitely worth the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Build Having built the larger 911 and Bugatti I find this one to be just as enjoyable build as well as a bit more solid IMO - which should add to the play value also the stickers while numerous are are a better quality IMO allowing for easier placement without the dreaded stickiness from hades that we often have to deal with - buy it you'll like it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have for Porsche lovers The Porsche 911 RSR is one of my all time favorite cars, so naturally I had to buy this set. Overall It was a great set that was fun to build. My only two complaints are: 1) There was a page missing out of the instruction booklet, but I was able to download the digital instruction booklet so I could view the missing page. 2) This set didn't utilize numbered bags, so it occasionally got frustrating going through all the pieces to find the pieces I needed for a certain step. Small issues that are easily solved, and overall didn't take away from the fun of building this car.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Tremendously fun to build!!! Slightly challenging, as expected, but that's what I expect from a 1500+ piece set! I have spent way too much time admiring it sitting on my dining room table. One comment (not an actual complaint), the bags aren't numbered, so it took 18 ziploc bags, both 1-gallon and snack sized, and took up the entire table while building. It was still ridiculous amounts of fun, and would do it again in a heartbeat. Strongest possible recommendation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool Car I was pretty excited when I saw that this kit was coming out and wasn’t disappointed. I prefer these kits where the bags aren’t numbered as it makes it feel more like building a complex puzzle instead of a paint by number. While I’m not normally a fan of a lot of stickers it works for this model because it’s a race design but I think fewer would have been better. The color scheme with white, black and red is excellent, it makes the rear and front look very cool. There weren’t any special bricks or new build techniques but overall it was worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfying build! I’ve read many mixed reviews on this set. But we all have different tastes in aesthetics. I got this set sealed at a great price. I really enjoyed the challenge of opening all of the unnumbered bags and sorting pieces in groups. I will say you need some space for this build. I always build on our dining room table and I needed most of it. I put all matching pins and small parts in small containers that have lids for keeping things together when I wasn’t building. In all honesty, after spending a couple of hours sorting and grouping parts together…the build actually went faster than usual. I’m thinking it’s because I wasn’t opening a # bag every step and arranging parts during the build. This build was fun. Overall the car is much sturdier than my recent Ferrari 488 GTE build. I watched numerous videos on how to do the lower suspension mod. But I used pieces I had and found a much easier way to achieve this with less parts. Anyone who understands Technic parts and has spares can find any number of ways to do this. It really does set the car off! I’ll be lowering my Ferrari 488 next. Yes, this set has 2 full sheets of stickers. But they really blend seamlessly into the build and give a very nice look to the finished car. I also tucked the big headlight covers under the front clip. Just looks a bit cleaner in my opinion. I recommend getting this set before it’s retirement this year. Whether you want one to build or store sealed, no doubt this sub 1600 piece set will grow in value. Prices have been climbing since it’s retirement was announced at online stores and other platforms. Part of its popularity is no doubt due to the unnumbered bags. But primarily because this car looks like a 2000 piece set. It’s large and wide. It just looks great. Highly recommend this set!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don’t underestimate this one: very challenging! These 10 and 11+ Technic sets should not be underestimated — very challenging for adult builders, too! The challenge is why I so enjoy these sets, and this one is no exception. Didn’t like having all the pieces in unmarked/unnumbered bags as I think that adds a needless amount of tedious complexity. That said, the challenge is part of the fun so if that sounds like a good time to you, this set won’t disappoint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fun The Porsche 911 RSR build was a lot of fun and very challenging. The attention to details in this set is amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone willing to take the time to build it. Part of the reason it was so challenging was because unlike recent past builds the bags in the box were NOT numbered. It reminded me of the old school Lego sets that I built with my son some 35 years ago when non of the sets had numbered bags. It took me about 7 days to build spending 2-6 hours a day resulting in a total build time of about 21 hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome and who needs numbered bags?? So... No numbered bags? That's ok. If you've built a "few" LEGO sets than your probably familiar with the pieces and no numbered bags might be a more challenging build, but not necessarily bad or wrong. Ask my wife, I pouted about this the first time I encountered a LEGO build with no numbered bags. I soon got over it and honestly, if your an "expert" builder, you should too. With that said, I love all of the Technic cars and builds, from the Corvette up to the Bugatti. If you love LEGOS and cars, this is a no brainer. Get it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Model but no numbered bags I may not get to build this model. I have neither the space nor the patience to knoll out 1,500+ parts. My work-space is the dining room table. I must be able to stop at some point and clear the table for tomorrow's dinner. For those who feel sans bag numbers is more of a challenge, then just ignore the numbers and dump out the parts. Personally, I far more enjoy the building as opposed to the knolling. Different strokes, I suppose.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 911 RSR Not up to Porsche I found the build to be enjoyable. Not very challenging but a few instructions needed studying. The final product I was rather disappointed with. Some aspects are just not true representations of the actual car. They could have done better like the GT3. But for the money, it was worth it. Look forward to the next Porsche. Hopefully a classic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely Racecar This was the first Lego set I've bought in a long time, and I had a great time building it. In a lot of the pictures, the headlights look quite bulbous, and I was worried it would make the car look bug-eyed in person, but it's a lot less noticeable than I expected. Also, this thing is huge! I'm gonna have to buy a shelf for this. The main reason I gave it 4 stars was because this set didn't come with numbered bags for some reason. I know for a fact that pretty much every lego set for a while has come with numbered bags, so this made the build process much slower than it could have been, as I was sifting through every bag throughout. But overall, the finished product is awesome, and I'd give the beauty factor a 5-star rating. I think I've caught the Lego bug again, and more of these Technic builds are in my future for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coping over the retired 911 gt3 rs The build was fun to do as I did it in 1 sitting. Bags aren’t labeled so it made it some what confusing at first but once you start going, you remember where the pieces are located. Overall great build and its nice to have as you cant purchase the road car variant anymore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Generally good with minor flaws I was trying to find things to do with the shelter in place situation and decided to pick up Lego which I have not played since I was a kid. This was my first Technic set and it was very fun to build. I immediately fell in love with this theme and placed orders for Chiron, 1989 Batmobile (I know, this is not Technic) and the new Lamborghini Sian recently. Generally speaking, the 911 RSR looks awesome with a lot of interesting details. However, some flaws are that the headlights look ugly, and that it is hard to play with the wheel. Also, the interior looks hollow but it is expected as there are only 1500 pieces (3000+ for Chiron with similar size). In summary, though I expected it to be a bit better, this 911 RSR is a good value for a 1:9 (I think) track car and I would recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Porsche!! So this is my second techic set I have built, first one was the 70 charger RT. This it was a little bit more advanced than the charger but really like that everything kind of flows together all the way through the body to the interior in general I would say great for any Lego fan or anybody that’s a collector and likes to display them as I do!! Can’t wait to find the Porsche GT3 RS and do that one if it’s anything like this one!! Definitely recommend it can’t beat it for the price either!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for Porsche enthusiasts. A great way to see the placement of the mid engine flat six in the new 911 race car. Not as complex as the GT3 RS but still fun none the less.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good challenge this is a great model if you want a challenge. it requires a lot of dedication and is one of the more lengthy processes with a great finish. It is similar to the relatives that are the porsche bugatti and rally car but it lacks the gear box and lighting systems. this isn't something i'm sad about because the price and difficulty were good enough for me. the roof is quite flimsy, only properly attached with some piping and one support in the rear. this can be seen as a flaw but personally, i want to see the engine that i screwed up on with my friend multiple times function so a removable roof helps. the dash board gets in the way of the steering wheel mechanisms which i find slightly annoying but that doesn't matter too much. from what i can tell, it looks fairly easy to motorise and has great potential for it with plenty of unused space just under the trunk which is meant for seeing the engine. you may need to be a bit more skilled to incorporate the steering motor as it has to be installed either during manufacturing, or after removing the numerous panels which could be easy if using the instructions to strategically do so. personally, i haven't because the motors cost a butt tonne just for being called lego. the only real flaws are the fact that you can't pick it up too well because of the roof and steering is really annoying because the wheel is badly attached and i once pulled it off. you essentially should either steer uncomfortably with the steering wheel that falls off, try moving the actual wheels as they move, motorise it, or just have it as a demo. as for the roof... im not sure. there is also one problem that drives me up the wall. im not sure if its my fault but when i reverse the car, the wheels rub against the frame around it making it so annoying to use. i really want to think that it's just me because it ruins a perfectly good design. over all, it is a good model and worth the money especially if you have a remote controlled vehicle as well (you could switch and swap parts) but not too good for playing with after. but hey. i get technics for a challenge, the mechanism and obviously the looks. if it doesn't have these then i wouldn't have bought it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Porsche Porsche is overal a nice model , especially the rear lower quarter Makes a great display piece also . Very educational for parents with older children , My personal dislike is the stickers , I find them very difficult to apply perfect and it’s nice to get then on properly , ruins model and cheapens the appearance. Come on Lego supply the parts printed !! Apart from that it is the high quality detaile working example and great fun at a great price ,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Build, Challenging, Worth the Cost I am relatively new to the Lego family (although my older son has been building sets for years and was a big influence on me to start building)...In my youth (68 yrs. old) I would spend hours upon hours of building, painting, etc. plastic models of all kinds of things...but cars models were my favorite..believing I was still good with my hands, I tackled this very detailed, Technic set...truth be told – (I had built the VW Bug - 1,167) prior to doing this build... What a blast! it definitely brought me back to my youth...the attention to detail is remarkable...steering works, pistons go up and down, etc. it was an approximately a 21 hour build (quarantined and doing it like a puzzle - passing it and doing a small sections at a time)...the build difficulty was on a 4-5 level...I have ordered the light package (through Brick Tool) and can't wait until it comes to put a finishing touch on this build...the down side was the bags were not numbered - but I had purchased a puzzle board, so I could spread the pieces from the bags in piles, etc. I also anticipated doing a lot more big builds... Needless to say, I hooked and already on the "slippery slope" of Legos...no surprise here...I have 3 additional "big" builds on the way...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great set having already built the chiron this was not a massive challenge for me. the lack of numbered bags was a bit annoying, luckily I have enough building trays. overall the build was much more enjoyable than the chiron because you dont have to join the front and the back together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Detailed Model Great Value I purchased this set to display alongside the GT3 and was a little bit disappointed to find out that the completed model is a little bit smaller than it’s predecessor however what it lacks in size it makes up for in great detail. This set comes with the most decals, especially large decals (two full sheets) of any LEGO set I’ve ever purchased. The build process is fun. The first 60% of the build is mostly internal structure and the last 40% fleshes out the body panels and overall vehicle shape. It doesn’t have that many play or action features aside from what you’d expect it any other technic set. If you’re a fan of Porsche and/or want a great sports car display model, this set delivers. The white/red/black color combination is unique and eye catching! All in all very happy with this set and enjoy seeing it displayed on my shelf!
