Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as excited as I thought they would be Not my favorite in the series of puzzles. Several families said their grandkids played with for a long period of time, but ours played just a short time. I am not worried about them learning locks as these are not the locks they would find in our homes. My two year old is more concerned with what is inside the doors, while my 4 year old likes to unhook the locks for him. They spend more time with the regular puzzles. Well made just not as exciting as I thought it would be for the extra price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! I have had my eye on getting this for my twin boys for some time now. I wasn’t sure how difficult some of the latches would be for their little hands, so I went ahead and followed the suggestion for the age on the product. I am so glad I did! They took right to it and have been enjoying latching and un-latching the doors on the board since they received it. I also love that it incorporates numbers, colors, and animals at the same time. Just another great product from this company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a Must Have! This is a wonderful puzzle! I first saw it when one of my friends had gotten it for her classroom, I had to have one too. I've had mine for about 5 months and it is still in great shape. I figured it being in a room with 22 preschoolers it would get broke fast, but not yet. The only thing that is diffcult is some of the locks aren't the easiest to open, you may need to help the children. But other then that it is GREAT!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toy Stoy Surprise Purchase I took my 15 month old to a local toy store and this puzzle was out in a play area. While I shopped around the store, he was absolutely glued to this puzzle. Obviously I had to buy it, even though it says for 3-5 year olds. Since bringing it home, my son has continued to sit and play with it for 20-30 minutes at a time. Great, great, great purchase! Even for a little guy who can't quite figure out the tougher locks :)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not safe I don't think this is a very good educational toy. In my eyes it is teaching/showing kids how to undo locks and latches that we use to keep them safe at home. Such as the window latch. I have a two year old grandson and all I need him to do is climb up on the window sill and undo the latch just like on the toy board! They need to think of something else that doesn't have anything to do with safety.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, colorful, age appropriate Purchased for my 2yr old nephews birthday. Right out of the package he was engaged and able to work a couple of the latches. His 5 year old sister jumped right in and helped show the way of it. Article seemed sturdy, very colorful and suited to the 2+ age group. A teacher was in attendance at the birthday and she liked it so much she was going to purchase one for her pre-school classroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made, frequently played with, NO PLASTIC We gave one of these to a 18 month old grandson a year ago, and he is still playing with it, so we gave another one to a second grandson in a different town. I love that the latches are sturdy, they all function well, and are big enough for little hands to manipulate. The illustrations are a plus, too. So the kids love them, and I love that there is no plastic on this toy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 year old loves it I like ths latches board. 6 latches on a horizontal board. We had a toy like this some years ago that stood up vertically but this one is a flat horizontal board. I didn't realize it had the animal drawings behind each latch. a nice touch. Incorporates counting training too. We gave it to a 2 year old and he really got into it. had his tongue out a little. A nice item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We love this for the car! We got this for our 18 month old.(Yes, we know the label stated for 3+, but he is very bright!) Brady LOVES his puzzle! It is great for in the car. He can rest it comfortably on the sides of his car seat and all the pieces are attached. It is GREAT! We keep it in the car at all times. He asks for it as soon as we get him strapped in his car seat. Great product!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So much fun! I got this for my son, and even though he's only /almost/ 2, it is one of his all time favorites. he likes me to hold the board for him while he works at the latches. he can't quite get the window latch, but most of the others are doable. The one we have is slightly different, it appears to be based on farm scenery, but at any rate, it's awesome. Totally cute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect gift! My 2 year old just loves this toy. It is the first he grabs in the morning and the last thing he touches before bed. Some nights we need to hide the board so he will go to bed. He will sit forever and play, and because of the pictures and numbers it has also helping teach him numbers and counting. He carries it around so much that he needs a handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun for all ages! We gave this latch board to our daughter for Christmas last year after she played with it at a friend's house. Even though she is only 18 months old (and it says it's for 3 and up), she has been able to find a lot of ways to play with it. We use it to work on color and animal recognition and she's actually gotten pretty good at the latches too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for toddler and for special needs My 12 month old and 2 year old love this board. We purchased it for their great-grandfather (who has had a significant stroke). He likes this board very much, and it seems to entertain him and keep his mind busy. I think this board would be a great gift for someone with ahlzheimer's or dementia. Of course, toddlers are fascinated by it as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from My child was injured using this toy. My son was playing with this toy in his toddler class at daycare with a friend. He got his finger pinched in one of the hinges and ripped off the tip of his finger along with the nail. We were lucky that he didn't break the bone as well. Needless to say, our daycare is throwing away this toy. I would not recommend this toy to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again. This product is educational, it teaches eye/hand coordination, little finger dexterity and teaches them colors. I recommend this toy for children that are very mindfully busy. The latch boards are quality crafted, made of wood and no plastic parts. The toy will be around for all the grandildren, not just the first one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple But Very Interesting Toy A great learning tool. My 3 year old great-grandson loves it, as most kids like to lock and unlock things. Animals, colors and numbers easy to teach. Will be handing down to another great-grandson expected in July. Saw this in doctors office and was immediately impressed so went online to find and order one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wooden Latches Board - Great learning tool Wooden Latches Board was a gift for my great-nephew, Oliver. His mother said he "just loved it and was very excited to open it upon delivery". She also said "Oliver started working on it right away." I'm so happy that I saw the board at our local Firestone store. Your 'learning' toys are great!! Thankyou

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Skill Building for Toddler So much fun for a toddler! Difficulty of latches is varied (blue door was a big source of frustration for a month) but that has not deterred my little one. Different colors, numbers, and animals on the board allow for lots of extension activities. We've been playing with this almost every day for months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Already bought this previously . . . Our Great Grandson is only 2 but he'll grow into this & have a great time with it. Purchased for our now 7 year old Great Granddaughter when she was about the same age. Her Mother said she loved. Our Granddaughter said no toys only educational items. My mind always goes to Melissa & Doug. Thank you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good product but has glitches I think all your products are great! My daughter is 16 months and always runs to play with your toys first. I just find that for this toy the latches on house 5 get stuck on house 6. Also the latch on house 2 is very diffcult to open even for me. Other wise I think it is a very well made toy. thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from His favourite toy! My brother who is 2 years old loves this toy, its the first thing he reaches for when he gets downstairs! great for fine motor skills and little fingers. He's dropped it a few times but it lasts! highly recommend, especially for autistic children as it keeps them focused and distracts them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All kids need their toys! The wooden toys made by Melissa and Doug have been a staple for our grandkids for years. Now another generation of little fingers is being enticed. Their toys never wear out because they are top notch materials, well made, and educational. Customer service is as top notch as their toys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Escape! All of the latches and locks work just as they do in the real world. The grand kids like to play and find the characters behind the doors. The board is very realistic and could be used by parents and educators helping children adapt to the world around them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect timing for almost 2yo I asked my son if this toy would interfere with their effort to keep my 2yo grandaughter out of cupboards, etc. Quote, "Let's have it, she's already mastering most of the safety devices anyway!" Perfect timing and some latches are stilll a big challenge.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this!! The latch on house 2 is difficult to turn. Maybe if it had more of a tab on it or maybe a rubber gripper it would be more manageable. My kids STILL love this toy even after all these years. My two year old has a GREAT time with it even though it says 3+.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This toy is so versatile! This learning tool is very appropriate for a wide range of development/ages. I purchased it for a fifteen month old, who will play with this for a long time! As fine motor skills become more developed, she will be able to master more complicated latches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Fine Motor And Learning Board Awesome latch board. Our daughter is 18 months old and loves it. She really enjoys this type of activity, and loves to open the latches and the different doors. It is a great tool to learn numbers one to six, as well as colors. Great quality and sturdy.
