Love that this makes my granddaughter think
Love this set and that is wooden, durable and they make use of both sides of the board, I do wish this set had a sliding lid for it though to keep up with pieces. It has a nice wooden box to keep boards and pieces in but nothing to contain everything. I attempted to use a drawstring bag to keep everything but it hasn't worked great. Need to buy another one just for pieces and just keep in a ziplock bag.

To be used and kept
Toys of this quality will be passed down to the next generation. It is one of the most durable educational toys I have found. As a speech pathologist, I would recommend talking to your child about the shapes, how they go together, what they have made, and how they might change the design to make something different. I can't wait to explore more Melissa & Doug products.

He's learning and doesn't even know it!
My four year old son LOVES this toy. He will sit for almost an hour, working on different designs. It is teaching him so much about patterns, spatial awareness, and geometry, but he just thinks it is fun! I recommend it highly! The only con is that the sturdy wooden box doesn't come with a lid. Melissa and Doug, what do you have against lids???

Great Blocks
Pattern blocks help toddlers develop visual acuity and manual dexterity. They help with the understanding of shapes and colors. You get quite a bit for your money when you purchase pattern blocks. Great way to increase math vocabulary by talking about how the shapes differ and are the same. Pattern blacks are awesome!

More than a shape puzzle
My husband did not think our 4 year old would understand the objective in the beginning, but she grasped the idea very quickly. We also use it for pattern sequencing within our homeschool curriculum. Like many Melissa and Doug learning toys, it has many more uses, you just have to create your own added uses.

For my grandson
I bought this for my 4 year old grandson. He was very happy to get it for Christmas. He played with it while we were visiting and made a shape for us. It is a great learning tool and I have seen them in the elementary schools. The kids love to play with these.

Great Fun
My daughter has the simpler pattern block set, but it had gotten too easy for her. At 2 1/2 years old I was afraid this set might be a little difficult for her. I was wrong. She loves playing with it. The set is very well made and a terrific value for its price.

Great for Autistic children
I work at a school for children with Autism and this toy is continuously being used for my students . We even created more activities to do with this product . I found the size to be great it's not too small so it's good for the kids fine motor skills .

Great product but missing pieces
We love this puzzle. It captures the attention of all three of my children (7, 5 and 3 yrs old). However our set is missing the green triangles. Can we purchase additional blocks? The toy gets 5 stars but the missing pieces is frustrating.

I love your toys, but am so tired of not being able to contain all the little pieces because there is no box. It just doesn't work well no matter how much fun they are, and that's the last thing you remember when the game is finished.

Great toy but don't like new packaging
This toy used to have grooves inside the box and a thin plastic sheet that slid in for a top. Now it's just as open tray. Difficult to keep contained. Pieces get lost! I actually am wondering if I can buy some replacement pieces now.

Very good quality. My only suggestion would be a better container and avoid the use of plastic wrap and any other single use materials.
A container to keep the pieces together once the game is over would be great.

Though the toy is quite engaging, but since the pattern board is flat, it is difficult to keep the blocks intact at the place.. rather the pattern board should have a litl depression so that the the right blocks get fixed.

Good educational toy
I wish the pattern was not flushed with the background in order for the shapes to stay there. That would be helpful for my 2 year old daughter to learn placement of shapes without being frustrated that it keeps moving.

Fun With Shapes
My 4 year old daughter really likes playing with the shapes. Along with using the boards we also make patterns on the floor and sort the colors. We tend to play with this once a week.

A much needed product for preschoolers.

I'd love that it came with a lid
I love these pattern blocks but it would be a good idea to add a lid to keep the small pieces for getting lost. That would give it the extra star.
