I normally prefer pumping into bottles, but I fly for a living. Bringing along the bags with the adapters on my flights is much easier and saves more space than carrying a large amount of empty bottles. It's not a perfect product, but it's a vast improvement over its predecessor. One tip: When I'm transferring the thawed milk to a bottle for daycare, I completely cut off the top, below the zipper and use a breast shield to funnel it into the bottles. No mess, no spills.

I have been using these for 2 weeks now (my little guy is about 2.5 weeks old) and I'm a 3-4x/day pumper, so the bags are REALLY important to me. I'm going to give you a 100% true review and a great HINT that I wish I had known 2 weeks ago!

First of all, the best thing about these bags is the adapter which allows you to directly pump into the bags and store them, as well as the fact that they sit upright, which has been helpful in my refrigerator. However, there are more negatives - they're too expensive, they're WAAY to small and if you have a lot of milk (like I do), you end up using 3 per pump session, which requires changing it out, closing it, reattaching another, turning machine back on, etc. - a delay which is not good when you're pressed for time trying to quickly pump during naps! They are horrible to pour from - whether you attempt to pour from the hole or the side - there's often spillage and my husband and I both hate this. Also, they are hard to seal all the way (esp if you have a little too much milk and get milk trapped in there), so that takes extra time, too! As I said, the biggest issue for me is that they're just too SMALL and don't store enough...i find myself trying to pump the max milk and often it's a little too much, which requires pouring out some - again, that often spills and then there's milk in the closing seam. Pain!!

I heard about the Lansinoh bags, which people said were far cheaper and BIGGER. The only downside was that you couldnt pump directly into them and people were saying they were TAPING these bags to the pump accessory. I decided to buy them to see if i could make it work and I did - all you do is cut a little slit (through both layers) about 1/4" long and VOILA the medela adapter fits right into these slits (just like the medela bags) and you have a storage bag that it probably 3x the size. I cut the small slit along the purple line right above the ziploc seal. I can pump both breasts into ONE bag. Plus they seal up with ease!! The only downside is that the bags don't sit upright - not a big deal if you're freezing or laying on side - but just not a bonus for me. I learned that by sitting it up and it fell off over and off the table and onto the floor - just a good thing it was sealed! I swear these bags hold 13-14 oz of milk...there's no measurements beyond 5/6oz on the bag, but if you fill it up, it's a ton of milk and doesn't require multiple bag changes. So far, I'm super happy and wanted to share! Good luck!

I use the storage bags when I'm at work. Unlike other storage bags, the medela storage bags allow you to pump directly into the bags. It comes with two adapters in every 50 pack you buy. They are also very easy to freeze and unthaw.

Best advice - pump into a bottle so you know the exact quantity then pour into storage bags. Pumping directly into them works but the measurement is hard to read due to the shape of the bag.

Comments about Medela Pump & Save Breastmilk Storage Bags - 50 count:

I am 14 weeks pregnant, still nursing my 15 month old and my milk supply has pretty much dried up. I still try a few times a day though. I am almost to the end of my freezer supply and I just wanted to share a few things about my experiences in using up my freezer supply.
            1. You can never have enough frozen. There is no "too much".
            2. All of the frozen milk I have fed her over the last month has been 13 to 15 months old. In a deep freeze. She drank every drop, not a bad bag. So I question the 12 month rule.
            3. Double check your bag is sealed before you freeze, keep the seal dry. Many popped open while thawing.
            4. I used 3 kinds of bags and lots of empty bottles. I will NEVER buy Medela bags again. They are the only ones that the sealed opened on and 4 bags so far either broke or the seal on the bottom of the bag leaked while thawing in hot water. No problems with Lansinoh bags. Not sure if Gerber still makes bags but I used some that were 7 years from my first baby and NO PROBLEM with Gerber bags.

Comments about Medela Pump & Save Breastmilk Storage Bags - 50 count:

I like that these bags are little thicker so it's perfect for freezing. I liked the idea of the pump adapter when I purchased them but I haven't used the adapter piece yet.

I don't like that above zip top there is a hole in the bag. I assume this is to use with the pump adapater. This hole makes it difficult to pour the milk in or out of the bag without spilling out of that hole.

I thought it was great that the bags already had the oz marked on them. However I quickly learned that once you pour the breastmilk into the bag the liquid doesn't line up. So 2 oz of milk reaches the 4 oz line. But you can easily write the amount on the bag.
              Overall I would buy again.

I pump into bottles and combine then pour into these storage bags and freeze them. I lie them flat in the freezer so they're thinner and take up less room.

I only wish they went up to bigger size.

I use these bags when Im pumping at work. I dont have too many bottles to pump into, so this is a nice way to collect, store, then freeze the milk. The only drawback, besides the high price, is that you can tear them easily where the connected attach.
