The Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming system is portable gaming at its best. This aqua blue 3DS comes with a wide array of amazing features in one little system. DS stands for dual screen, one of which is a bottom touch screen, with built-in telescoping stylus giving this handheld gaming system a huge bonus.

Features and Accessories

The 3D aspect of gaming is truly unique. It gives real 3D visuals that seem as though you are viewing characters and objects with true depth. The 3D depth slider option allows the user to selects the level of 3D they like the most.

This boxed system comes with the 3D gaming system, one built-in stylus, and it is preloaded with a variety of exciting games. Other remarkable features of this system are the built-in cameras. There are three cameras total with one that points at the player, and two others that point outward and can take photos in 3D.

The slim design of the Nintendo 3DS makes its portability super easy. It is quality built and ultra-light weight at just 2.4-pounds. The system is durable and has the ability to be moved in different directions with the game knowing which way to go. This technology is by way of the built-in motion sensor that can react to tilting motions.

Stay connected with other players using this DS system. With an option to activate StreetPass, players can exchange game information with other gamers through data-transfer. It also has SpotPass which can connect to hotspots for receipt of content and system updates.

Nintendo 3DS includes two screens. The bottom touch screen makes use of a telescoping stylus that is stored in the unit itself. The top screen displays 3D visuals to the naked eye. Looking at the screen is like peering through a window into a world where characters and objects have true depth. The system also has a 3D Depth Slider that lets players select the level of 3D they enjoy the most. The 3D effect can be ratcheted up to the highest level, scaled back to a more moderate setting or even turned off completely, depending on the preference of the user.

Nintendo 3DS now also includes a Circle Pad, which provides a full 360 degrees of direction, giving it the freedom and precision needed to play games in 3D worlds.

A built-in motion sensor and gyro sensor can react to the motion and tilt of the system, so whether players are twisting their systems side to side or moving them up and down, their motion-compatible Nintendo 3DS games respond instantly.

Two features will allow owners to stay connected in new ways. For owners who choose to activate it, the StreetPass feature is capable of exchanging game information with other Nintendo 3DS systems as owners pass one another. Small packets of information can be exchanged using this data-transfer method, such as Mii character data, maps for games or high scores and custom character data for different games. The SpotPass feature can connect to compatible public hotspots and through a wireless broadband Internet connection at home, even if the system is in Sleep Mode. Once connected, the Nintendo 3DS system will receive new content and updates on a regular basis.

Each Nintendo 3DS system comes pre-loaded with a variety of fun games, applications and features, such as Nintendo 3DS Camera. Nintendo 3DS has three cameras. One camera points at the user, while two additional cameras point outward and take photos in 3D.

Features

The Nintendo eShop, through a system update, will offer access to downloadable games, including Nintendo DSiWare and ones specifically made for Nintendo 3DS.
Built-in parental controls can be used to limit Internet access or some of the wireless functions. By using a PIN code, parents also can turn off the 3D function altogether, or limit the ratings of the games that their kids can play.
Nintendo 3DS can also play Nintendo DS game cards with their original 2D visuals.
Users can either import Mii characters from their Wii systems using an SD memory card or use the camera to take a picture of a person and have an automatic Mii character created.
Built-in game Face Raiders asks users to shoot at funny depictions of their own faces. 3DS when put into Sleep Mode, can act as a pedometer, while letting users earn Play Coins for the steps they take that can then be traded in for additional content.

My boyfriend was looking at this for himself. He's a hardcore gamer and was going back and forth between the upcoming psp and this. The psp has some games that he wanted, but I talked him into this system. I'm so very glad I did! It has better graphics then the upcoming psp, and with the world heading towards 3D, this is wonderful if you can't afford a 3D t.v. It's a great system. I can't play 3D games or even games with 360 movement, so I was worried I wouldn't be able to ever play this system. You can turn the 3D off or even adjust it. We bought New Super Mario Bros. and it's definitely a must have if you have this system. If you're like me and can't play 3D, there's a ton of games for the DS, and all will play on this system.

I don't really agree with the age limit starting a 6 years+. Because it is a 3D screen, I would be worried to give it to a child under the age of 10. You know your kids better than I do, so just take that into consideration. Perhaps purchasing the warranty if it's for a preteen? My best advice would be to get screen protectors, a case that you can use while gaming, and a wrist strap so if it slips out of your hands while gaming, it won't hit the floor. The screen gets dirty easily, so put the screen protectors on as soon as you open it up. We waited a day, and I couldn't get all the dust particles off. The wrist straps and Zelda armor we bought has already paid for itself (though we researched Nerf armor and heard great things about it too) and we've only had it a few months. It's a great investment. My boyfriend is very happy he bought it, and for something I was never going to use, he has trouble getting it away from me. :) If you're having doubts, buy it. You won't be sorry.

Best thing about the product is that my son can play his new 3DS games on it and his old DS games on it. so its a win win. Product is easy to use. warranty is great for kids. The only things I do notice about these games is that so with so much use, the side R and L buttons function less. It happened to his regular DS and to his 3DS but other than that, its GREAT!!!
