Product Description

This Philips Avent SCF259/04 My First Trainer Cup makes it easier for your child to transition from bottles to sippy cups. Ideal for babies 4 months and up, this cup comes with both a medium flow nipple as well as a soft spout, allowing flexibility to move from bottle to cup whenever your child is ready to make the transition. The design encourages your child to gradually get used to drinking from a sippy cup while providing the familiarity of a bottle and the comfort of a soft spout. The petals inside the nipple increase softness and flexibility without nipple collapse, and it's innovative twin valve design reduces colic and discomfort by venting air into the bottle and not baby's tummy. The trainer handles make it easy for little hands to hold the cup to encourage independent drinking. They are detachable, so you can simply add them when your baby is ready. The My First Transition Cup is made from BPA free materials and includes a protective hygiene cap to keep the bottle and its contents clean. All pieces are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. Mix and match our bottle and cup parts, and create the product that works for you, when you need it!

The Avent BPA Free 4 Ounce My First Transition Cup - Pink Features:

I got a chance to try this cup as part of the WeeSpring Parent Panel. My almost 9 month daughter has been exclusively using Medela bottles, and I was interested in seeing how she responded to another one - with the added benefit of being able to move her to a sippy cup as she gets older.

Overall, I liked a lot of the design of the bottle. The very wide neck made it very easy to scoop formula into it without spilling all over the counter. The nipple didn't leak or dribble as much as our Medelas when she drank, which kept her much cleaner!

The handles were okay - she was already holding her own bottle by the time we tried this and so she used the handles sometimes, but just went back to holding the bottle itself a lot of the time. The handles WERE helpful for my older kiddos to help grab the bottle and hand it back to their sister, however.....

What I didn't like about the bottle was that it was only 4 oz. My daughter will take anywhere from 5-8 oz at a time, so this was limiting for us as a bottle. In addition, the oz measurements didn't have a straight line for each - instead it felt a little like I was guessing as to my measurement because there's a lower and upper line on either side of the number.

We tried the sippy top, but my daughter wasn't interested in it. I think we'll try it again in a few weeks when she might be more ready for it. I do like that it's similar in texture to the nipple, so I'm hoping it will make the transition easier when she's ready.

This is the first sippy cup we have tried with our 9 month old. Before trying this sippy cup, she tried water out of her Dr Brown bottle (that we use for milk) and out of our glass, but her preference was still milk.

Pros: small and light, easy to take apart and clean, great to have bottle and sippy cup in one, it fits on to spectra bottles/pump (so I can pump straight into this bottle), handle can be removed and placed on other bottles, soft spout, BPA free

Cons: leaks when held upside down, handle moves easily which seems to make it harder for my LO to get the spout in her mouth

All in all, I think the combined bottle/sippy cup is a great idea and if we hadn't already gotten her used to the Dr Brown bottle (it took a long time before accepted bottle at all) we might have used the nipple instead of the sippy spout. She is intrigued by the cup and keep trying to sip on it, so it has been good for transitioning her to a cup. One of my concerns is due to the softness of the spout. My LO is currently going through a teething stage and she keeps chewing the spout. It seems nice and soft to sip on, but I'm unsure of how long it will keep if she keeps going at it.
Thank you to the weeSpring Parent panel for the chance to try this out!

Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this cup!

I like that the same bottle can be used with both the bottle nipple and the sippy cup spout. The handles are convenient too! I hope this works well for us.

Comments about Avent BPA Free 4 Ounce My First Transition Cup - Clear:

I got this cup through the Wee Spring Parent Panel - and I signed up for it mainly because a little boy in my daughter's class already had this cup and I thought it looked awesome. After letting my daughter use it for about a month now. . .I'm completely sold. This cup is fabulous as a training device for going from bottles to cups. This is the brand of bottle we already use so she had no problems switching over to using the handles. The spout part was a little weird for her to get used to. . .but it's so soft and pliable that it didn't take long for her to figure it out. My only complaint with the cup is the large opening size of the sippy part - I never switched from newborn size bottle nipples on her bottles and going from that to this gigantic sippy cup opening was a little rough. . .and it spills more milk than a normal bottle. That being said, that's probably more a "me" issue than an issue with the cup itself. This product is great. Not only would I recommend it to others, I'm actually going to be buying a couple more for me because one isn't enough.

I received this cup as a gift from the weeSpring Parent Panel. This sippy cup was good for a small amount of fluid. My son drinks more than 4 oz so I found the cup size to be disappointing. The design of the handles was good and he was able to hold the cup easily.

    Phillips avent transition cup

Comments about Avent BPA Free 4 Ounce My First Transition Cup - Clear:

I got a chance to try this sippy cup as part of the weeSpring Parent panel. I have a baby girl who just turned one who absolutely loves this cup the fact that it can transition from a regular bottle nipple to a sippy cup nipple is just wonderful prior to this cup I had tried giving her a Nuk sippy cup which she can't seem to figure out or just doesn't like. This sippy cup she loves, she carries it around almost anywhere the only issue I have with this sippy cup is the handle for some reason I've had a problem with it the first couple of times getting it to stick on the nipple other then that I would definitely recommend this sippy cup.

Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this cup! My daughter was fortunate to try this cup. She took to it very easily. I had my doubts as she is accostumed to other suppy cups and can drink from a straw. She had no issues whatsoever with this one. Love the handles, its very sturdy (can handle falls) and best of all no leaks. I would recommend.

I received this sippy cup as part of the wee spring parent panel. I have a 9 month old who has only had bottles to this point. After a few minutes he adjusted very well to the handles. The small size made it easy for him to handle. It was good for getting him used to drinking water. But the size was a bit small to use it for a regular feeding. I'd be interested in a larger one that could accommodate an 8 ounce feeding.
The interchangeable nipple and spout make for transitioning that can happen in phases as opposed to all at once. My son liked to chew on the sippy cup spout though at first.
It was easy to clean, which is key. I would definitely recommend this cup.

      good transitional sippy cup

Comments about Avent BPA Free 4 Ounce My First Transition Cup - Clear:

As a first time mom, I did a lot of research when the time came to transition from a bottle to a sippy cup. My 9 month old son had already gone through two types of sippy cups before I got a chance to try this cup as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. It met all my criteria for a sippy cup. The cup is BPA free, has removable handles, comes with a lid, and you can purchase the sippy spout as a separate component. We skipped straight to the soft spout which was nice and durable as my son has been teething and loves to chew on everything. So far the cup has survived my son's new habit of throwing the cup off his high chair and repeated dishwasher uses. It also doesn't leak! My only dislike about the bottle is that i would prefer handles that my son can grip onto better.

I like the handles, can use with Avent Classic bottles

I received this cup as part of the WeeSpring Parent Portal - thank you -

I like this sippy transitional cup, mostly. It's nice that it has both the bottle nipple and the sippy spout included. I like the handles. It's easy for my 10-month-old to hold onto them.

You can use the handles on your Avent Classic bottles as well. That's a definite plus to me.

My con is that when (not IF, WHEN) your baby throws this cup, if it lands on the spout then it makes a bunch of the liquid squirt out and makes a mess.

It's a good cup, though. I would reccomend it to family or friends.
