Ten years ago, when the original Gold and Silver Pokemon games set in the Johto region debuted, I was in awe. I was one of those people who actually prepaid for copies of each, just to ensure I got it on the release date. I stopped playing them for years, and to make a long story short, the batteries in the cartridges died. Which led to an online search for replacement batteries. In the process, I discover that Nintendo has released remakes of those games.

"Great," I think to myself. "Pay more money for something I already have. Boring waste of money."

Wrong! I got both of them for Christmas 2010 (Thanks, Dad!:D ), and they more than surpass the originals, not only in graphics, but they add the enhancements available in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, as well as the ability to (for instance) hatch a Pokemon egg by walking in real life! (Parents, take note: great way to get your Pokemon-crazy young kid to get some good-for-them exercise)

I would totally buy this myself. (And, actually perhaps I will-- wait ten years, and if it's still in the box and sealed, it'll probably be worth 3-4 times as much)

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
