Junk. I would have NEVER bought it if they had a display. NOT SOLID WOOD at all. Cheap laminated MDF (paper board) and plastic. The only thing that is wood is the track but it is very POOR quality wood, very lightweight and flimsy and does NOT go together right. I would be taking it right back but I used $20 of rewards twords it that I will lose now.

Train set went together ok. Some pieces needed to be forced a little, as there wasn't a lot of slack in the pieces. Big design flaw at the end was the fact that the train that came with it DOESN'T fit under the bridge!!!!! It also can't turn the corners because the edges of each 'car' touch and cause the car to disconnect from the following cars.

to make this brief I will just say if I didn't get 40% off this toy purchasing it on christmas day, I would return it!

There are pieces that actually don't fit! The little knobs on the one side of the track are poorly made and cannot be used! The little houses are cheaply built and fall apart quickly, and one of the roofs cannot be placed on properly because it doesn't fit! My son got so aggravated I took it away.

That being said, I got it 40% off and for the pieces that do work, especially the track pieces which are very expensive especially compared to other brands make it worth keeping and tossing out the pieces that don't fit or work.

My daughter got this set for her Birthday. It keeps her busy and she loves this set. I like it because of size, it's not small and not too big, so it doesn't take too much space. Very good quality. Planning to buy one for my nephew in Russia.

There is a great selection of pieces, and the price is right. The problem is, the pieces break easily.

We purchased 2 Imaginarium sets for our 3 boys at Christmas. My husband's brother & his wife also bought an Imaginarium set as a Christmas gift for our boys.

We already had a set from Circo (now 2 years old). The Circo pieces are solid wood construction. The Imaginarium pieces are laminated together.

Today is January 4th. In less than 20 days of gentle play, we've had multiple pieces of the new set break. The connector pieces from the traditional track pieces have snapped off, and some of the specialty pieces have split in half altogether.

My husband is using wood glue and clamps to try to fix them. We are very disappointed.

My 2.5 year old loves this train set, he is a big fan of Thomas, but this is much more affordable and compatable with the Thomas and Brio sets. My only complaint is that the train station has a small track as part of the floor which is made of particle board rather than solid wood. This caused the thin track portion to start peeling up after a while but the train still goes through fine, just looks more like a road than a train track. My son also drives his matchbox cars along the track as they fit as well.

I thought this was a great buy with lots of interesting pieces for less (on sale) than I'd spent on a simpler set for my other child. But the wood is such poor quality that it wasn't worth it. Out of the box, there was one piece that was cut wrong and wouldn't attach to any other piece. We tried to use a file to expand the hole and it split. After one day of play, two more pieces broke and became unusable. My son is now very sad that the whole box has to go back. By comparison, the Melissa & Doug train set that we have is made of a much denser stronger wood and has endured months of play without a single problem. It's really a shame because my son loved the layout and style and had a great time with it until it started breaking. I would happily buy it if it were made from stronger wood.

I bought this for my 3yr old son who is big on trains. He loves the set. I like the layout but I do have some problems with the set overall. 1.)The track pieces are not double sided like most of Imaginarium trains sets are. This means you have limited use and designs. 2.)The ascending tracks in my set were warped. Doesn't bother my son-he just pushes them down when he drives over-but it bothers mama who payed for it. 3.)Imaginarium states that this set "is compatible with Thomas the Train and other wooden trains." However our Thomas the train CANNOT go through the bridge. The bridge is too narrow. Again, this does not bother my son but I wish it would work right. For the price it made my son very happy and he was able to have a larger set then if I had bought a differant brand.

We bought this for my son with the oppropriate train table. The track does not stay together. Everything keeps falling.

We've had this train track set for a while now, and it has worked great for us. My son loves it and it is compatible with his Thomas and Friends train set, but at a fraction of the cost. I definitely recommend it if you're looking to expand a Thomas set without spending a fortune, or just for a good train set on its own.
