I bought this farm set for my son for Christmas. I thought it was really cute, and it is, but the screws do not stay in! The farm is played with in a normal fashion, and set on a table or on the floor to play with, and no matter what, two of the screws are constantly coming out. I can understand if it had been dropped, or not put together properly, but none of that is the case here. I'm very disappointed and my son is sad that his farm keeps breaking.

I ordered this barn because the price was right, although some reviewers said it felt flimsy. The barn is definitely made of thin wood, and I was worried it wouldn't hold up to my kids. I've had it about a month, and it is fine so far! I got it for my 3 1/2 year old daughter, but my 1 1/2 year old son also loves to put the animals (and his dinosaurs) in the barn. The animals are the cutest I have ever seen! They are posable too. My kids have had all kinds of fun with this. A few notes on assembly: the directions for the chicken coop part are wrong, so just copy the way it looks on the box. Also, the roof comes on and off the top, which was frustrating for my daughter. So, we just crazy glued one half of the roof on, allowing access to the barn loft while still looking cute. Also glued the coop roof on. I am glad I bought this barn!

I bought this for my daughter today and we both fell in love with the little figures that came with it. That's where the love affair stops. The barn proved to be very difficult without any directions (were they supposed to be included?) and worst of all, the compressed wood that it's made from is doing some serious chemical off-gassing. During assembly of the product my eyes became very irritaed and my throat was sore. I'm considering returning, but my daughter is in love with the figures too much. Might toss it or set it outside for a few days.

Overall I don't think I would have purchased this if given the option of knowing what came with it.

Assembly is fairly easy - a screwdriver is required, but once together it's sturdier than some of the tab&slot Imaginarium products.
Both sections of the roof lift off so that you can play in the hayloft, but that means the main barn room underneath is only accessible through the doors-too awkward to play in and basically wasted space. Because the wood is thin, I might attempt to "kit-bash" this to cut open the hayloft and get some access to the first floor.
I was thinking of returning it because I wasn't in love with that aspect of the barn, until I unwrapped the characters. The set includes a man, a woman, and a set of barnyard animals that are SO CUTE that even my manly-man husband went "awww". They have rope-like legs/necks so they are posable, and really nice quality. I wish they sold these figures independently, because I'd love to include more characters with the barn gift. They're the same type that came with the Imaginarium pirate ship and are just right for a 3 year-old, very simple, durable, and yet because they're nice-looking and wood, they don't look TOO juvenile.
The set also includes a play mat with grassy scenery, this is just a folded plastic piece that looks like a placemat. I probably won't even include it with the gift as it's pretty cheap looking.
I should mention I bought this for half price - if it weren't, I wouldn't be nearly as pleased. Other wood barn sets have cost upwards of $50, so this enables me to spend a lot more on some fun extras. So all in all, I'm happy with the purchase. Even though I find some faults in it, I know the 3 year old will still have a blast with it.
