This was a present for a 6-year-old boy who loves Star Wars. He knows all of the characters name, and presumably what they sound like. When we opened it up and tried it out, it's supposed to have 3 different voices. There was only one, no matter which setting we put it on, and it doesn't sound like any of the characters. The Darth Vader noise comes out in that setting, but otherwise, there's no difference between the voices. Very disappointing.

Also, I'm not really sure how he's supposed to play with it because there's nothing to hold the mask up to his face (except his hands). This is really inconvenient.

With this item what you see is what you get. It's a big, clunky "breathing mask" that has a voice changer built in. Unfortunately, the internal microphone doesn't work very well so it misses most of what you say, and though there are three different voice settings they all sound pretty much the same (and none of them actually sound like the character they're supposed to represent). It also has no straps so it must be held on by hand, and there are no air holes so when you breath moisture collects inside rather quickly.

Still, it makes a neat costume piece, which is what I'm using it for. But I painted it up, weathered it, added some straps, and so on...

I saw this product and had very high hopes as I've always wanted a voice changer for star wars characters and it looked pretty nice. When I opened it I found that there was no strap and no way to make your own strap to wear the mask. That was only my first disappointment, when I tried using it it sounded nothing like the characters it promised. The sound is crackly and all the voices sound the same, not to mention the speaker volume isn't loud enough to mask your own voice.

I gave this to my son as a gift for his birthday, he has not put it down yet! Although it does not come with a strap, the voice changing options are really cool - especially the Darth Vader breathing feature.

Unlike the other reviewers, I didn't pick this up to wear it, but so that my son could hear his voice sound like Darth Vader. And he LOVES it! I have even caught his older brother playing with it with his Darth Vader Lightsaber. I couldn't get him to put it down, not even at the dinner table :) The batteries suggested were wrong, but that wasn't that big of an issue, as we have plenty of batteries for my kids toys in all different sizes. If you or your kids love SW, then his is a great toy.

We bought this to be part of a Halloween costume, it is so disappointing. Like the other review, the package is mismarked and says it takes AA's, however, it requires 3 AAA's. Also, there are no straps to actually wear the mask, you just hold it up to your face. The worst part of the whole thing is the voices sound NOTHING like the characters that they state they are supposed to be. The Boba Fett voice is basically just your own voice through a microphone. The only thing that sounds ok is the breathing effect for Darth Vader, the voice sounds like some kind of defective robot. Horrible waste of [$] and huge disappointment to my son. Returning this ASAP.

When I saw this toy in the store I thought this would be an awesome looking piece for a Halloween costume, when I got home and opened the package I found that there were no straps to go with it. Even if I were to attach straps to it there are no breathing holes in the mask. After reading the literature that came with it, I found out that this not even supposed to be worn, you just hold it up to your mouth. This was very disapointing, considering the thing is made to resemble a respirator that is worn on the face. The product is also mislabeled about what type of battery is used (on the front of the package it says it uses 3 AA when it actually uses 3 AAA). I was really excited about this when I saw it, but became kind of angry when I realised what I had bought. Though it looks very cool, it completely misrepresents what it really is, a voice changing microphone.
