This was a Christmas present for my 4 year old son who is obsessed with cars and trains. This is a perfect combination of both. Be prepared to have a C battery on hand for the train. It can be a little flimsy only because we have it set up on carpet. But overall, great quality. I'd play with it myself if I had all the time in the world. This was an addition to our Superhighway Set. I recommend if you have the space.

When I got this, I was taken back by how big it was. That's what I get for not looking at the specs! Anyway, it took up even more space once it was put together. But all of this was just just peanuts, because he really loves it and plays with it a lot.

The only reason that this gets 2 stars instead of 1 is that my 2 1/2 year old actually loves the train and tracks.

The reason I dislike this set so much is that none of the interlocking pieces stay together, especially on a carpeted floor. The road fits together like puzzle pieces, which come apart as you drive on them. The "cement" ground pieces that hold the hospital and fire stations come apart with the slightest touch also, making it very difficult to just pick up the whole thing to move it. It practically comes apart as you are putting it together.

We were missing a [small] piece as well.

I also find myself wishing for more variety in types of train tracks, to be able to make more interesting configurations. Even the expansion packs lack in the pieces I wish I could have.

My son loves trains so much that he doesn't really care about what frustrates me, but he only plays with the train itself, not the "city" aspect. I can't help but wonder if there's a better set out there that is actually completely functional.

This does not come with two trains but just one. I read the box before purchase so I was aware but my son was hoping it had the train on the upper track shown in the picture in addition to the one shown on the lower track.

The set we purchased has several missing parts including the Conducter that sits in the Command center at the controls. I can't imagine this would not be part of the set since this is what the set is based on. Although it states this Conducter is included on the front of the box, it doesn't show him in the picture on the side or listed in the contents next to the picture on the side. We are also missing the parking garage rails as well as guard rails and a sign holder piece. The parking garage rails and sign holder are shown in the picture as part of what is included but not in the list of contents next to it. I am waiting for a response from Tomy on whether or not they will be sending these parts and if in fact they are supposed to be included.

Wow! We just put the batteries in the command center and it doesn't work! I guess I am going to drive back to the store and purchase another set to hopefully get the parts that are missing and/or not working since I refuse to tear it apart now and bring the entire set back for an exchange.

I'm sure the set will be pretty cool once we have all the parts and a Control Center that works. Obviously, quality control is lacking at Tomy. I would suggest making sure all the contents are in the box and the Control Center works before putting together the whole set. It is alot of pieces!

I bought this set as a birthday gift for my son.
It is a wonderful addition to our existing tomica trains and tracks.
The train has working headlights.
There is nothing bad about this set,except the lifeless cardboard road pieces.
