It's really well made like all Melissa & Doug toys. The only thing is if the puzzle pieces are out random things like switching lights on or off can trigger the animal sounds. So dont freak out if you are in a dark house and a dog barks at you out of nowhere!

My daughter LOVES this puzzle. Gave it to her when she was 15 months old. She is 19 months and still loves it. I have to admit, though, we don't use it with the sound. Hubby took it out of packaging and put batteries in it and it didn't work. For months we figured it was a problem with the toy, but our daughter just loved using the puzzle so we kept it. Then he looked and realized that he put the batteries in backwards. So the sounds starting working...and it scared my daughter! So we just took the batteries back out and use it just as a puzzle. We can probably reintroduce the batteries/sounds at a later time and it wouldn't frighten her as much. She loves taking pieces out one at a time to hand to us, then putting them all back in the right place. It has helped teach her the animals because we would say what it was when she pulled that piece out. She can now grab a specific one you ask for. It's been great. After lots and lots of use, the edges of the paper coating on the pieces is coming up, though. That's the only downside. But I still think it's fantastic.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
