I had sea monkeys when I was a kid (I'm 44 now) and became nostalgic recently when I saw an ad online for sea monkeys. I opted to order this from Toys'R'Us because I was too impatient to wait (with in-store pickup, I had it the next day, and would probably have gotten it the same day but for a delay caused by an update to their website), and with in-store pickup there's no shipping and handling charges. Order it online instead of just going to the store, and you'll save about $5 thanks to an online special.

Sea monkeys are VERY easy to care for; once they hatch, you need do nothing except feed them approximately every 5-7 days and aerate their tank once a day. (More on aeration in a minute.) They're a lot of fun to watch; they love to turn back flips, never stop moving, and produce lots of baby sea monkeys.

This kit comes with something called the aqualeash, which is used to suction up sea monkeys so you can do things like move them to another aquarium, though I've never had to do that for any reason. If you just want a neat, easy pet and aren't a die-hard hobbyist, you'll never need it. However, it can also be used to aerate the tank. The instructions recommend pouring the tank's water from one container to another and back again to aerate the water, which is far too inconvenient. Transcience sells a hand-operated sea monkey air pump, but it has to be ordered from them via mail order; it can't be obtained online. You can easily make one just as good by buying an aeration stone from a pet store and sticking the tube end of it into the bottom of the aqualeash. Just stick the stone in the water and pump the leash, and lots of bubbles will rise to the surface, aerating the tank very efficiently.

Sea monkeys are fun but very tiny, not growing to more than half an inch at best. With the projector, though, you can project them on a wall and watch them that way. Very nice, especially for someone farsighted like me. I would definitely recommend this set over the others.

This is a great sea-monke set to get, comes in a cool box, (if you're into collecting), and the projector works great! It's about time sea-monkey fans got a great sea-monkey projector set. I STRONGLY recommend starting your sea-monkey tank in warmer weather. More will hatch. Other than that it's a colorful conversation piece!

Tank light is awsome. This is the best tank. Comes with the Aqua leash too. Bottom of tank is smooth instead of cratered like the original. Light does a good job of illuminating the Sea Monkeys. Lid is nice touch. Excellent product.
