My 21month old daughter LOVES garbage trucks. All the trucks for her age do not interest her at all. I knew this truck was out of her age range so I was not going to buy it because of safety. I bought it anyway and put aside all the small parts for when she is older. My daughter just loves loves loves this truck. It is easy for her to snap the cab cover on and off to take the men in and out. She loves the little blue garbage can and its easy for her to hook to the back. This truck is very durable and my daughter plays with it everyday. She doesn't bother me as much anymore to watch for the garbage truck in the morning because now she has her own.

My son has a love of garbage trucks, and since this truck has come into our home all the other vehicles have become second best. We love that it came pre-assembled and overall it's durability, and realistic look make it a great choice.
The one con is the back hatch. After the garbage goes in you can open the hatch to get the garbage out. It is a very firm closure, so my son (3yrs old) often has trouble getting it open. When it is opened the hatch doesn't flip all the way up and over, so he often pops the hatch right off when he's trying to get the garbage out. It just means that mommy and daddy are doing lots of repairs.
This is the first item from playmobil that we have purchased, and I think we will purchase more in the future. A great product overall.

I was hesitant to get this at first because of the reviews here. But for any parent out there familiar with Playmobil pricing, this truck's on the lower end. I thought I could live with any trade-off in functionality for the price. Lower price, however, didn't translate to lower quality. This truck's made with the same OC quality control you can expect from Playmobil. My son who is five couldn't have been happier. The top half of the cab does snap off easily for him to put his men, women, children, dogs, etc. in the cab and is just as easy to snap back on. The recycling bin is fun to load and dump with the "recyclables" that come with the vehicle. The back of the truck swings up around the top hinge so you can reach in to empty the truck. The only con I can think of is that I wish there was an easier way to get more recycling bins and recyclables without hunting online auctions or calling Playmobil's replacement parts department. I've also got a daughter who's three and you'd think the two kids would have better things to do with their time than fight over a recycling bin or a fake sardine can.

Don't buy this recycling truck. It's garbage. Constructed well, but the front top doesn't lift up to place the drivers into the seats like other Playmobil products. The front has to be completely snapped off and on to place people inside. Very inconvenient for a child. Also, once the garbage is in the truck, the child has to turn it upside down to shake the garbage out. There should be a door that lifts open on the top of the truck to take the garbage out. Poor design. On the positive, my three year old grandson thinks it's great.
