I would recommend two people to assemble it, just so there's someone to hold things. However, I assembled on my own and it is doable. in addition to the hex key that comes with the crib, try using a hex on a screwdriver, makes life easier. Instructions were easy to understand. Does scratch easily. I'll update again after the babies are born for reliability and sturdiness.

We wanted a simple and sturdy crib for our first baby, without getting too large or elaborate. This crib fit the bill perfectly! We went with the rustic cherry finish so it would match existing furniture. It was in pristine condition when it arrived. My husband and cousin put it together, and they had some brief confusion over which side of the front and back pieces faced in or out (instructions could've been clearer!). Other than that, assembly was easy and pretty quick.Love the classic, simple design; the finish is beautiful, and the price tag is hard to beat. I am certain this crib will hold up through multiple children easily - I'd recommend it to anyone.

My mother-in-law generously purchased this crib for my husband and I and thankfully she did so three months before our due date. We got the crib from Babies 'R Us in under a week (which was great!) but when we went to assemble it we discovered that one of the rear rail legs had misaligned drill holes for the screws which attach the leg to the back of the crib. The wood of this piece was also warped and there was no way to assemble the crib with the faulty rail leg.

I contacted Babies 'R Us but was informed that replacement parts were only available through the manufacturer, however the sales rep told me that most companies would ship parts overnight. I then contacted LaJobi about the issue. The manufacturer notes listed email as the best way to get a timely response so I sent a message which was met with an auto reply that I would be contacted within three days. Impatience got the best of me and I called La Jobi two days later. I did get a customer service rep to handle my problem immediately (so much for email being the best method of contact!) however, they informed me that the replacement parts I needed were on back order and would not be available for fourteen business days. The La Jobi associate also informed me that they do not do overnight shipping of parts so we could be waiting for a while...

I still love the look of this crib (we chose the Rustic Cherry finish) but I am disappointed with the quality control department of a company that would ship a crib with a faulty leg. I am now torn between returning the whole thing and choosing something else or waiting until just a few weeks before my due date to actually be able to put it together. Though I may still recommend the style, I wanted to share my experience - which is hopefully sheer bad luck - as a caution to anyone choosing this crib on a tighter time schedule.

We purchased this crib after viewing the store display. I was easy to assemble, my Hubby did it in 15 minutes, with no additional tools needed. It was packaged well, no scratches or defaults from the manufacturer. I would recommend this for anyone trying to save some $ and still get a good quality item.
We purchased it in the Natural wood color.

Our son grew out of his basinet & we needed a crib fast on a budget. Unfortunently, when we went in store to order, they were out of the Espresso, so we got the Cherry that matched a dresser we already had. This is not a singl person put together. I chipped the corner of the front & the instructions/pictures weren't very clear, so I am not even sure I put the back on facing the right way. I even put the peace that says Graco upside down after frustration trying to single handed hold the pieces together by one foot stand. Overall, its together & now I need a bumper because my little one gets his foot stuck when he moves around in his sleep. He's an active sleeper.

I ordered this crib after falling in love with it when I saw the display at BRUs, but after going home and reading reviews about it online (most are for the espresso finish), I got really nervous about it arriving damaged or otherwise unusable. When it arrived, I scrutinized every piece, and I was thrilled; it was practically perfect! The ONLY flaw I could see was that there was a VERY slight dent--about half the width of my little finger-nail--towards the bottom of the right side where the mattress support would go, so it wasn't even visible at all once it was assembled, which was also very easy to do. I did it all by myself when I was 38 weeks pregnant.

This crib is also SOLID. It's made of pine (so yes, it is a softer wood), but it has the durability that I would expect from a hardwood crib. I've tugged on it, moved it around, tried shaking it, and this thing doesn't wobble or anything. Also, I had read some complaints about a strong chemical odor. When I took the pieces out of the box, it didn't smell any different (or worse) than what you would smell if you were to walk into any hardware store that sells lumber and paint; after about 4 hours, the smell was completely gone.

About the mattress heights: I have the mattress in the highest position for a newborn, and it's just right for me. However, I'm only 5'5". If I were 5'7" or taller, I can easily see it being too low. My husband is 6'0". He did make a comment about it being low, but since I'm going to be the one at home most of the time, it works for us.

Overall, this is a WONDERFUL crib, and it's a bonus that we got it for such a bargain! I have no doubt that this crib will last for years, whether we convert it to a bed or use it as a crib for our next baby. DEFINITELY WORTH IT!
