Very neat product. I grew up with my younger brother playing with these and my 5 yr old son played with some of my brothers old ones. This is very neat. lots of great pieces. And the container it comes in is perfect! Great Christmas present!

I was disappointed that the box contained two different sizes of k'nex. Have the standard and smaller parts in one set limits the flexibility and options of the things that can be built. There are not enough transition pieces to connect the larger pieces with the smaller pieces. I would have preferred all parts in the box to be the same scale.

I bought this product for an afterschool activity club for 7 to 9 year olds. I found this product colorful and enticing. A few children chose to try K'NEX. This is a product that has small pieces and the diagrams are good for those who have experience. I still intend to offer this toy for "brainy eplorations" It is best suited for children who have previous building experience, like to be creative, or those who can follow diagrams. Great for an adult and child to work together. I would put the age at 8 and older.

The K'Nex set is really a great building set. It has good instructions and can be customized. I love that this one is made in the USA.
My only negative is that the pieces, in one type of set-up, can be difficult to snap together for little hands. My 6-year old boys were able to complete a few of the projects by themselves on their birthday, but there are some which have them attach end-on and that seems tough. But they'll grow into that and it says it's for 7-year olds anyway.
