The shovel states for ages 5+, and while it is rather tall, would be fine for a younger child (perhaps 3 or so). And although made entirely of plastic, it is sturdy enough to keep in the trunk of your car as your on the go shovel.

my oldest son loves having his own shovel. he can help out around the house and feel like a grown up. this shovel is wonderful and can stand up to a lot. can't wait to see my younger son use it and have the joy as his big brother. i would tell anyone to buy this.

We bought this shovel in a BRU for my 3 year old to play with while Mom and Dad used grown-up shovels - she loved it. Little did I know it was good for grown-ups as well! I just went out and scraped ice off the driveway with this little shovel - ice that the grown-up shovels couldn't even touch!
