This crib is so wonderful! It looks like a crib you could easily spend $1000+ on! The espresso color is gorgeous. It looks black in the store picture, but in person its a very dark brown that has a "rubbed" appearance to it. It took my husband and I only 10 minutes to put together! SUPER easy! A very sturdy crib that will easily last into our son's adult life. Couldn't be more happy with this product!

We bought the 4-in-1 set as an "investment." But a lot more money and time must be invested to make it work in 4 ways!

We didn't think about the teeth marks our teething baby would leave on her bed (will she want such marks on the bed she uses as a tween?). We didn't think about how large a FULL sized bed is in a little girl's room.

But I'm especially disappointed with the experience of converting the set to big bed. First of all, you pay a huge chunk of change for ... 8 pieces of wood and some hardware. I waited months and months to be able to make the special order. Then waited another 10 weeks for the special order to arrive. Finally, I took apart the toddler daybed expecting to have her sleep in a big girl bed that night. But that is when I noticed that they sent me the TAHOE set, not the HERITAGE one. The wood slabs might be exactly the same. But the hardware would not work. I spent an hour trying to get the allenbolts and nuts to fit together -- they would not. I looked at the pdf on the HERITAGE set and realized that the allenbolts sent me were 1.5" too long! (But length alone wasn't the reason why the nut and bolt wouldn't fit together.) She had to sleep on the floor that night. The next day I got working hardware from a local hardware shop (WHAT? I paid how much money for THIS??). I got the pieces together, but had wasted an extra 2 hours in the process.

But then I tried to screw the slabs onto the frame. The predrilled holes did not always match up. I spent an hour putting in 12 screws! I couldn't use an electric tool because there wasn't enough space for it to fit into the screw without hitting (and taking the finish off) the sides of the bed frame.

It's finally put together, and it does look nice (though HUGE for the size of her room). I laid on the bed with her last night during reading time (though when my husband tries to sit on it it creaks ominously).

Overall, I feel completely disappointed in the value for the money and time I put out. I would not recommend this product to others.

Comments about Baby Cache Heritage Lifetime Convertible Crib - Espresso:

We have had this set in cherry now for 2.5 years. It has held up very well and I get compliments on it all the time. I wrapped a towel around the crib rail in front to protect from teething which worked great. The finish did wear on the rail a bit from my leaning over to put the baby in the crib all the time in my jeans. Baby cache sent me a finishing pen to touch it up, but I think for it to really work you would have to sand it down first. The mobile did scratch the wood a bit, so beware of attaching a mobile to the side, or put some cloth under it first. I think these issues exist with any crib. We did get the toddler rail which works great and my daughter loves her toddler girl bed. I had to wait for it to come in stock, then 10 weeks for delivery though, so plan ahead. I had to email baby cache to find out when it would be available, they were prompt with their customer service and polite, considering I was grouchy. No complaints there. I plan to use only the headboard on a bed frame when I move to the full bed since there is wear on the footboard, though not too bad. We also keep the curtains mostly drawn during the day to protect it from light, since her bedroom gets a ton of natural light. The dresser and chest have held up well also, a few knicks and dings from us not being careful. I did place a protector on the dresser which I used as a changing table to prevent scratches from the changing pad. I use a large cloth diaper prefold to set my diaper supplies (cream, lotion, spray bottle) on to prevent spills. I plan to continue using the set for my daughter as she grows up. Though honestly, looking back, I recommend finding a nice dresser set made for adults in the future and then find a crib to coordinate with it if you want a set to last forever. Nursery furniture is softer somehow that wood used to make adult bedroom furniture I find. Or plan to sell it and buy a set that your kids will like of their own choosing when they grow up and develop their own tastes in furniture. This has lasted well for me because we care for it. Children who are more rowdy might cause more damage.

It was a super easy set up!! (Probably the hardest part was getting it all out of the box. It was packaged very well.) Just make sure to bring a big enough truck when you pick it up. It is big. But really a great product!!! Looks beautiful!!!

I found this company to be poor quality for the price. Our Crib, Dresser and Conversion kit all arrived slightly damaged. The bed upgrade to a full is poorly made and expensive. You'll find the toddler conversion a bad idea, if your kid climbs up the sides (ours did), so we ended up putting it in storage for 2 years. I think buying 3 separate items from another company would have been a better value.

Love the quality, we looked around at both cribs and full beds. Many of the bed we were also looking at were of poor quality, this is our second crib from Cashe and I am confident in my choice to just go with another one for our second child.

sturdy crib and dresser. love them both. just don't use the non-stick shelf liners on the top of the dresser to keep a changing pad in place. it left subtle marks. in the future there will be other things on top of the dresser to hide them. so all in all i'm still happy with our purchases.

Also, with all convertible cribs, I recommend just buying all the conversion kits at the time of purchase so you don't risk having them discontinued.
