fit perfect in large room opening. the latch system is childproof. My grandaughter went right for the button on one side but you have to push both buttons on the sides in and then push down which requires a little effort and then lift up. So it's not like a simple lift and open that a child can figure out.
I have no cons and no improvements to suggest.

It's cheap. But what you get is, in my opinion, even less than what you pay for.

It looks SO CHEAP, and it is such a bother to install and use!
We had to re-drill the doorframe because first time the top piece that catches the gate was just a bit too high, so the gate was coming loose at the top. The baby could not open it, but still that was not good. Well, now that we re-drilled it, it is a bit too low, so it takes a lot of effort to open the gate.

The squeesy piece that locks it is so hard to use, even for me with healthy hands, can't imagine a grandma with arthritis using it.

And on top of all, it sags and I have to lift it every time so it would not scrape the floor.

Basically, there is nothing good I can say about this gate, even it being cheap does not help because it feels cheaper than its price.

Comments about Munchkin 1001332 Munchkin Protect Extra-Wide Expanding Wood Baby Gate:

This gate has been great! It was easy to install it only took me about 20 minutes. We have been using for about 6 months and it has been very durable. It still stands quite tall even in our 4 foot wide opening.

Comments about Munchkin 1001332 Munchkin Protect Extra-Wide Expanding Wood Baby Gate:

I needed a gate for a wide opening and it was easy to install and folded back against the wall nicely when not in use.

one plastic covering at the top started to fail, mainly because of my 15 month old grandson pulling on it as he tried to climb the gate. Otherwise it works great and stands up to being his "climbing wall"

I bought this gate for our kitchen to keep our 15 Month Old from getting into the kitchen. The hardware securing wood at top bound on plastic "slide", snapping the wood and prohibiing the gate from closing. Overall VERY POOR design and questionable construction, but I guess you get wat you pay for. I will be returning this item first thing tomorrow and exchanging for a better gate.

It's very sturdy and perfect for my wide open kitchen to keep my daughter out of the danger zone. I love how it retracts and swings back if I needed it to. Sometimes the top gets stuck and I have to bend it to click it back in place. Also, my cat went through a slot and his fur got caught on it. I'm afraid for my daughter's fingers to get pinched when it is not locked in place. For the price I think it's a great buy!

We needed a gate to keep our little one in one room. This one was affordable, attractive, and long enough for our large openings. A little hard to install perfectly the first time, but definitely achievable. I'm very happy with the 2 we bought.

I had this gate blocking off my dining room, to keep the baby away from my sewing machine... I purchased this gate in June, it is now July. He broke it by trying to stand, climb and hang on it. It broke in 2 places (top and bottom). RIDICULOUS!

Comments about Munchkin 1001332 Munchkin Protect Extra-Wide Expanding Wood Baby Gate:

Installation was simple and this door worked because my staircase opening was wider than most gates. However, once installed, I had a very hard time pushing both buttons and pulling down the hinge simultaneously to open. My fingers hurt badly and I think I'll return these or risk getting arthritis. This is not doable if you have to open and close this gate often throughout the day.

The easy open gate is better - hard to open for infant, not adult.

Comments about Munchkin 1001332 Munchkin Protect Extra-Wide Expanding Wood Baby Gate:

Once installed, this gate works as advertised; however, the hardware that comes with the product has a poor design and is very difficult to install unless you have unlimited time and an aray of tools available. The screw heads easily strip and the hinges are cumbersome to hold while screwing them to the wall. The hinge holes are so small and deep set, that it is difficult to find a pen which is thin enough that will fit in order to mark the wall before screwing. The poor design of the hinges makes the removal of the stripped screws almost impossible. In general the poor design and substandard hardware made what should have been an easy installation a frustrating mess (even for the most handy of individuals).
