This diaper pail works great. It's even better than the one we used for our daughter 6 years ago. The bags that come with it are good at concealing odors. I'll probably buy another one for the baby's room upstairs.

We used a regular little garbage (with a spring lid) can for my son's first year. I saw this diaper pail at BRU and decided I wanted to upgrade. Well, I don't think the bags hold as many diapers as it claims and it does not do as well with odor control as it advertises. We even put the dirty diapers in the little individual plastic bags before putting them in the pail. I like the idea of it but I'm starting to miss the garbage can we used before but we made the mistake of throwing it away when we started using this more expensive contraption.

I got this diaper pail, in short, because it was affordable, and would continue to be since we wouldn't have to buy special bags for it. I love not having to buy the expensive refill bags. It is true that it will fall over when it is open unless it is propped open, but it does have a little piece on the front so you can step on it to keep it upright.

Sometimes when it starts to get full, I can pull up the lid and stretch the bag out and the diapers will re-distribute themselves into the spaces in the sides of the pail and I can get a few more in. It does not nearly fill up a standard 13 gallon bag so when I change the diaper pail bag, I also empty the 3 small garbage cans in the house into the same bag. I change it about every 4-5 days so it works alright.

The worst thing about it is that lately, as it starts to fill up, the smell escapes when I flip the dirty diaper down in and flip the handle back up. My daughter has started solid food in the last month though so that change could have something to do with it. However, it really doesn't smell when its just sitting there. Maybe the people that say it smells all the time don't roll up the dirty diapers as tightly as I do.

One thing that I love about it is that it has a large opening so I can toss the diaper in if I'm in a little hurry. Its also very easy to operate. Overall, for the price, it has worked out great. None of the problems with it are so terrible that I've wanted to go spend twice as much on a different one as well as take on the extra expense of refill bags. I'm not totally in love, but to save money, I can live with it.

This product is worth purchasing. We have our daughter in the room with us and so is her diaper pail. We've been using it for a little over 3 weeks now, and we don't smell anything from it. It locks in the odor very well. We do place dirty diapers in it versus taking them out to the big trash can outside. We sometimes wrap the major poopies in the Babies R Us Disposable bags-sometimes. I wish the pail were a little taller though.

Out of all the things I registered for, this is by far the most disappointing item. It does not seal in the smell of the diapers. It's awkward to change. It doesn't hold many diapers. I had to buy a diaper pail for downstairs use and found something better. I like the Diaper Genie Elite. It works soooo much better. There is no smell. It's easy to change. It holds more diapers. Not because its bigger but because it has a better design. Register for the Diaper Genie Elite instead!!!

We keep this product in the attached garage, right outside the back door. It's easy to use and you can use store bought bags instead of pricy refill bags. I noticed some reviews mentioned the heavy top when changing bags and the smell after awhile. Let me tell you, after being a nanny and dealing with dirty diapers for over 15 years, there is NO diaper pail that will totally eliminate smell. You will end up with a slight smell no matter how much you disinfect and no matter how pricy the brand you choose. I have used several of the high priced brands of diaper pails out there, and they all have their drawbacks as far as smell goes. It's a dirty diaper people, they will always smell. As far as the heavy top when changing the bags, the Diaper Champ has the same problem and is much more expensive. My best advice would be to lean the top against a wall when changing the bag. Overall, this pail does its job with minimal expense, that is why I give it a higher rating than a 3.

So in my research to find a good diaper pail that won't let out the horrible smells of dirty diapers...I found this. It's not a name brand but it does the job and does it well for now (baby is only 5 months old). The only time I have smelled anything is when changing out the bags and when it gets so full that you cannot turn the handle anymore. It holds a lot and is easy to use; the only draw back is that once you flip back the lid it is very top heavy so you better have something behind it or a wall to stop it from going all the way back or else the pail will tip over...to me that is pretty minor. I really like the fact that you can use any type of bag you want, the Babies R Us brand is good but I just buy mine from the grocery store (scented).

Since I wasn't sure what the differences were between the different diaper pails, we decided to get one of the least expensive versions. We've only been using it for about 10 days, and so far it's doing great! There is no odor, and it's very easy to use. The only downside is that it's a little small, we 've already emptied it twice, but with a newborn we go through a lot of diapers, so that may be expected.

Bought this thinking how much difference could brands be? I also really liked the fact that I could use my own bags. After the first week (and 4 bag changes with hardly any diapers in them) the nursery stunk of dirty diapers. I washed it out with bleach and put baking soda in the bottom, even with no diapers in it, it still stinks!! I had to put it outside because the smell was taking over the upstairs ( with no diapers in it!!) Its hard to open, it falls over when it is open. my advice is, spend a little extra and get something else. In this case you truly get what you pay for. YUCK.

My nursery would reek without this diaper pail, there's very minimal smell. It's a must have and holds any bag really.
