I bought this cake to send to a niece in another state & since we couldn't be there, I had it sent first to my house so my daughter could put in a "Happy Birthday" message to her cousin. The cake recorded my daughter's message & played it back IMMEDIATELY just fine, but it WOULD NOT SAVE THE MESSAGE. You push the Happy Birthday sign & the candles light up & there is a beep. You have 7 seconds to record a message, then there are two beeps to signal the end of the recording time. Blow out the candles (which is a really cute feature) & you can hear the message, then it plays the Happy Birthday song & you hear applause. All that is really adorable. BUT after a few more seconds the candles turn off & there is no way to play the message again. As long as the candles stay lit, you can keep blowing them out & hear the message, but once the candles turn off, the message is gone. If you push the Happy Birthday sign again, you DO NOT HEAR the previously recorded message, you get the beep to record a new message. SO, the message my daughter left for her cousin was gone.
