I used this monitor with my 85 year old mother who has dementia. She is upstairs with a chair/bed alarm. When the alarm goes off I used this monitor to talk to her to check on her. I also would ask her over the monitor what she wanted to eat or did she need to go to the bathroom. I had to replace the 1st one after about 3 months. It wouldn't link to the room unit anymore. I bought the 2nd one the first week of March 2013. It is May 2013 and this monitor is doing the same thing. I have now learned my lesson, no more Motorola monitors. I would rate this product a "zero" if I could.

I don't understand all these negative comments. We love this monitor. The signal is clear and strong. I have plugged and unplugged it several times to move it to different outlets and have no problems with the receivers re-linking to the monitor. There is never any interference and we can even hear whispers. I helped a neighbor three houses down do some yard work one day and the receiver picked up everything that far away. I have a feeling all the problems folks are having are mostly due to user error.
Similar to other comments though, I do wish there was a battery back up for the main monitor so it would work during power outages. Otherwise, after using it for 13 months, this is still a fabulous product.

Loved the monitors for the first 5 1/2 months, however they quit working today. Both parent units quit linking and there is no way to fix it. Apparently this is a common problem. If you buy them be sure to save the receipt!

This monitor worked great for about 5 months until I went to move the unit and use it in my den. The parent unit and base wouldn't link. Tried removing batteries etc and wouldn't work. Exchanged the monitor and here I am 2 months later and the same exact problem just happened to me again! Returning these tomorrow and getting a different monitor! Such a waste of my time

We have been using this monitor for about 6 months and have loved it so far. I like that it has a clear signal and good range. However, following a few seconds of a power outage, the parent units will not link with the baby unit. This happened despite having the unit plugged into a surge protector. I called Motorola and was told this is not covered under warranty. What a piece of junk!! How am I supposed to be willing to purchase this monitor again and plug it in? What will happen if the power goes out again? I will be purchasing a different monitor this time. Do not waste your money on this product!

i started off really liking this item. Two parent units, told the temperature in baby's room, would go quiet if there wasnt noise above the white noise we have in her room. Issue one: battery life. Took forever to recharge. More than a day to get one bar back. However that is a minor issue since they now dont work after 4 months. The parent units will not link to the baby unit. Motorola isnt open on the weekends, so we have to wait until Monday to call cutomer service. Might just find another monitor instead of a replacement though since based on other comments they all seem to have the same issue. Also, the baby unit is not mobile. You cannot move it to another room unless it is plugged in.

This is monitor is terrible. It looses its connection at least 3 or 4 times per night causing the parent unit to beep constantly. Don't waste your money. Wish I'd read the reviews before I bought it in store.

this monitor started out just fine. decent sound quality, a little loud when they would cut on, but they are supposed to get your attention, right?

it was a little frustrating that there is no way to link the parent units to the baby unit except by unplugging/turning off and then turning back on again. i guess the units were designed to link automatically...unfortunately they randomly unpair, and then beep annoyingly, even if the sound is off, until you repair them.

over time, they started working less and less well. for example, if the sleep sheep was turned on, they would randomly cut on and off, despite the fact that there was constant noise feeding into the baby unit (so sometimes i would have to go into my son's room to check whether the sleep sheep was still working).

ultimately, the pairing issie is what did them in. i think something went wrong in the baby unit, because both parent units suddenly refused to link...and then they just beeped and beeped til we finally took the batteries out.

don't buy these...you'll just have to buy a new monitor in a few months. save your money and buy a nicer one from the start.

We used this in our small 2 bedroom apartment. We like that it tells the temperature and also can play music, and has the walkie-talkie function.

However - after 6 mo, my husband unplugged it to move it to another room and upon plugging it back in, it won't "link" (radio signal) to the other two handsets. There are no channels to switch to search for signal, so it just keeps beeping that it can't find the signal. I researched online and turns out this is very common, especially after a power outage. I called Motorola and they should be sending me a new one. DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR DATED RECEIPT!! There is a one-year warranty.

The on/off button is also a bit hard to use - you have to hold it down for a while. Once you get the hang of it, there's no fuss with the other controls.

We've had no problems of it picking up sound. It doesn't continually broadcast, only when it hears a noise it starts transmitting - this way you don't hear all the small noises (like cars outside), but if baby starts crying then you can hear it.

Horrible product . I bought this product because of the reasonable pricing and I my positive experiences with motorola but after two months of using this product suddenly out of no where the connection was lost and neither I or my husband could get the connection back up . When I called BabiesRus they said they couldn't do anything for because I had no warranty . SAVE YOUR MONEY . IT IS NOT WORTH IT !!!
