This is a fun set from the Lord of the Rings. There are three distinct builds: first are the 3 minifigures: Frodo, Samwise, and Gollum, next is the small cave, and finally the giant spider, Shelob. Shelob is an really cool looking LEGO spider. It's the best one that I have built. (Aragog from Harry Potter and the 2 Mirkwood spiders from The Hobbit.) I'm happy that the face was printed on the brick and wasn't a sticker. I really like the web/string feature where you can hang Shelob or use it to wrap up "dinner for later." The most tedious part of building Shelob was the 8 legs. They are very posable and sturdy. The cave is pretty standard. I like that it has a launching feature for Gollum to surprise attack Frodo and Sam. The three minifigures are great. Gollum has poseable arms and has detailed printing on his face/head. He also comes with a fish. Sam has a gray cape, a diamond, and a small sword. He has a dual printed face and has the standard Hobbit hair in a light brown color. Lastly, Frodo has his sword and 3 rings. He also has a gray cape and a dual printed torso and head. I love his terrified expression when he is stuck in Shelob's clutches. He has a brown hair piece. Overall this set is gret fun. It has fantastic play features including the cave that launches Gollum, a giant spider with string/web, and of course..."my precious". It also has three main characters of the story. You can't go wrong with this set. Thanks for reading my review. Play well!!

Shelob Attacks is not a bad set, but it isn't a particularly good one either. It has some flaws, some of which play on my lego pet peeves, but I wouldn't discourage LOTR fans from buying it. The minifigures in this set aren't really anything new; Frodo, Samwise and Gollum can all be found in other sets (except maybe Frodo's scared head) and usually for much cheaper. I've never been a fan of the Gollum minifig, although for such a unique character it is hard to make a suitable "break-the-norm" minifg for him. The main segment of this set is, of course, Shelob. I am glad that Shelob's face was indeed a printed brick and not Stickers. As far as looks, Shelob truly look fantastic. The repetitive build of legs is a little bit of a turn-off from this set, and I've never been a fan of string in lego sets. If someone asked me "What Lego Set should I Buy?" I would not recommend Shelob Attacks. On the other hand, it is a good set for LOTR fans and collectors.

All she ever gets to eat is filthy Orcses...

Comments about LEGO The Lord of the Rings Hobbit Shelob Attacks (9470):

This is another great LOTR set recreating a famous scene and including exclusive figures. SHELOB: The giant spider is brickbuilt, and includes the features of an extending web from the rear and poseable legs. Stickers (ugh) are used to create a printed face with one eye missing. This spider is quite large as compared to the Hobbit spiders, sure to be an even bigger challenge for the hobbits to defeat. A small rock outlet is also included for Gollum to watch the fun in with his fish. MINIFIGURES: -Frodo Baggins: This Frodo version has a gray cape on his adventure outfit, and has a serious face or a scared/stabbed face. He is armed with Sting and comes with the Ring. -Samwise Gamgee: Our large hobbit friend is exclusive to this set. He has the same blonde hobbit hair that Bilbo has, and has a serious face or scared face (same as the A-wing pilot). He has exclusive torso printing and a gray cape as well, and comes with a short sword and a diamond to represent the elven light given to Frodo by Galadriel. Awesome hobbit fig that is completely necessary to add to your collection of LOTR. -Gollum: This is one of two Gollums ever made. While the Hobbit one has a squinting, suspicious glare, this one has wide eyes and an angry expression. Gollum has a special mold and extended arms to make him a small, bent minifigure. Pretty cool to play around with. He comes with a fish. OVERALL: I think this is a great set that you really ought to have as an LOTR fan. It's not too overpriced, so the fact that you get Sam and Gollum evens it all out pretty well. Thanks for reading, and be sure to check out my other reviews on Star Wars, Marvel, Lego Ideas, and LOTR/Hobbit, and see what you think about ideas for sets that I mention in a few of my reviews. Feel free to comment on them or add your own idea in your review as well :)

      shelob the spider

      By me3508

      from salt lake

Comments about LEGO The Lord of the Rings Hobbit Shelob Attacks (9470):

this set is very nice. the spider is a good size and it includes 3 minifigs, Gollum, (with a new face, different from the riddles for the ring set.) Samwise and Frodo. they minifigs in this set are nice, with pieces that are printed to look like the clothes in the movie. They each have at least one accesory, Gollum has a fish, Samwise has a sword and the vial of star water which is pretty much just a diamond piece. (would have liked a new piece for it be whatev.) Frodo also has a sword and the one ring. the ring is pretty much just golden and shiny and thats about it, there is a slight brown patch from where it was removed from the mold. But yeah pretty much just gold and shiny. shelob looks great. the spider legs are very pose-able and you can find just about any position for them to be in that you want. there is no stickers in it which is nice. the eyes are printed-on but with one eye shut, like a different adventurer poked one out or something. it also has a web thing coming out of the back, but it has a hook on the end of the web which i find strange. one bad thing about this is it needs to be tied, and sometimes tied again. so for parents buying this for kids, unless you want your kid asking you to retie the string every few times he/she plays with it, don't buy this. there is also a cave entrance thing with a catapult for Gollum, but it isn't that cool. Overall i enjoy this set and love terrorizing my lego town with a giant spider

Comments about LEGO The Lord of the Rings Hobbit Shelob Attacks (9470):

This is the best spider Lego has ever done. Shelob is magnificent in her malevolence. Frodo Sam and Gollum round out the set for good play value but the "scenery" bricks are pretty useless.
I don't really like the emphasis on working features (Gollum can "leap" out)I would rather have the bricks to make an interesting scene.

Comments about LEGO The Lord of the Rings Hobbit Shelob Attacks (9470):

I find this set to be a great set. This set has great detail on Shelob including the spider string which is very long. The string is kind of hard to be puled back but otherwise, this is a great set. I would recommend buying this set.

          Save Master Frodo

          By Ravenclaw97

          from Mooresville

Comments about LEGO The Lord of the Rings Hobbit Shelob Attacks (9470):

Shelob Attacks is the $20 installment for The Lord of the Rings line and this set delivers. Starting with the minifigs, Frodo and Sam are basic hobbits. Frodo is no different from the Attack on Weathertop but Sam is exclusive to this set. Gollum is also in the set with a different facial expression than the Riddles for the Ring set. The build is quite simple with the toughest part being Shelob's web spinner which isn't much of a challenge really. The little cave that comes for Gollum really isn't too great and could've possibly been bigger. Minifigs: 8/10 Build: 6/10 PROS: >Sam and Gollum >Shelob has nice paerts CONS: >Piece count >Cave OVERALL: Buy this set. Good parts, good minifigs, and an easy build.
