The overall design, sounds, lights and looks of the car are very attractive and brings back lots of memories of the 1980's TV series. However, I must point out that the black shiny paint job on this car is chock full of small blemishes. Blemishes like tiny paint bubbles and imperfections that may bother some. It would make a very cool conversation piece for any collector willing to overlook these imperfections.

Not since the Kenner Knight 2000 Voice Car from 1983 has a KITT toy ever been this cool... Diamond Select Toys has hit the jackpot with this car!!!

Being a big fan of Knight Rider, I have the Knight 2000 Voice Car that Kenner made back in 1983. That toy was everything a kid at the time would want. A talking KITT at the push of the license plate. All that was missing were lights for the scanner and perhaps the dashboard.

Forward to 2012, Diamond Select Toys comes out with their rendition of a talking KITT toy car. This one turned out to be better than the car Kenner released in 83. Albeit smaller at 1/15 scale (the Kenner car was bigger 1/12 scale), this one from Diamond Select has more features the Kenner car never had!

The detailing on the car has its flaws both on the inside and the outside, any Knight Rider fan would notice that. But it is after all a toy and you won't get a toy of KITT that would be as cool as this from Diamond Select Toys. Other than having all the sound effects and the voice of KITT in almost digital clarity, the car also features opening doors, rubber tires, a light up dashboard, a voice modulator that syncs with every word of KITT's actual William Daniels voice, a working scanner light complete with foglights and tail lights as well as a revolving license plate (as featured in the episode Brother's Keeper from season 2). The gascap on the car is in disguise as the button for all the lights and sounds. Hold the gascap down for a few seconds and you can have the car lit up with sounds almost permanently until you press the button again. A very nice touch I think. The car on its own would make for a great display piece with its glossy plastic black finish, almost metal like.

With that, this toy will for sure appeal to a grown up Knight Rider fan who grew up watching the show like myself. And perhaps to kids of this generation who has seen reruns of the series on tv or on the DVD. For a Knight Rider toy of KITT, it doesn't get any better than this...
