I feel so silly. With my first child, I insisted on the more expensive brands that use extra valve pieces and claim they reduce air in your baby's tummy better. I also tried the ones with disposable plastic bags for each feeding, all in the name of reducing gas. What a waste! These bottles are BPA free, they keep air out of my baby's tummy just as well as the other brands (if not better), and there are only 3 pieces to clean. That's HUGE when you are also constantly cleaning breast pump parts, pacifiers, and toys! I was concerned at first that they would break easily (since they are glass), but the couple of times I have dropped one on our laminate flooring they haven't even chipped. They're heavier than plastic bottles (probably to make them more durable), and I was concerned that might be a problem when my baby started to insist on holding his own bottle, but now he's almost there and I don't think it will really be much more challenging for him than a plastic bottle would. I also purchased a couple of Avent Natural plastic bottles (also BPA free) for when he starts tossing them, though. He is a boy, after all! :o)

The other thing I like about these bottles is that you can SEE how clean they are. Over time, plastic bottles and plastic/silicone bottle vents tend to scratch, discolor, and retain smells, making you wonder how clean they really are. But after 5 and a half months of use, my glass bottles still look as clean and new as the day I took them out of the box. I really like these and wish I hadn't wasted so much time, energy, water, and plastic trying out the other bottles back when I had my first baby. You live and you learn, I guess!

... Oh, and by the way, this company sells a manual, single breast pump that fits right on to the top of any of their Natural bottles. It works well, is SUPER convenient, reasonably priced, washes easily, is comfortable, and because it fits onto the top of the bottle, you don't lose any nutrients transferring the milk from your pump bottle to your feeding bottle. Sooooo logical! You may need to order it online, though; I couln't find it in any stores.

These bottles are great! The ONLY problem I've had with them is when I make my formula, to no fault of the bottle, if the water gets too hot, they can leak when you go to shake them. But that issue is easily avoided if you simply let it cool for a few minutes! They're great for feeding at home or on the go as well. I wouldn't try another bottle. Also before you feed your baby make sure the bottle isn't to hot, the first couple feedings my baby got formula sprayed at her! She didn't mind but after warming the formula I let it stand another minute or two and this doesn't happen.

My son was born at 34 weeks, and became so accustomed to the bottle during his NICU stay that we could not get him to breastfeed. I never intended on needing bottles at all, but when it was time for him to go home I went and picked up some Avent Natural plastic bottles. He immediately took to the nipple shape and design, it never once has collapsed.

Since we are feeding him EBM by bottle 6-8 times a day I was concerned about his exposure to the plastic we were constantly heating up to warm the milk. So you can imagine my relief when I learned that Avent was going to make glass bottles!

These things are so sturdy. They are very thick, and the lip inside is rounded, so no sharp edges while washing. The writing is painted on, as one other reviewer seemed concerned about, but it looks like it is done with epoxy paint or something of that nature and I don't think it will wash off, ever.

Glass conducts heat quite a bit better than plastic, and I find that these bottles heat the milk much faster than the plastic ones.

These bottles are compatible with the sealing discs, but they are not compatible with the older bottle style plastic screw neck, which the sealing discs will snap into. I find it interesting because the plastic natural bottles, will accept the classic screw neck with sealing disc snapped in. This is much more convenient for storage. With these glass bottles you have to use the new style screw neck that comes with these bottles and the sealing disc just kind of floats inside it until you screw the neck to the bottle. At that point it is very tight, and there is nothing I can do to make this bottle leak.

I also use the Avent manual pump, and I can pump directly into these glass bottles which is awesome!

I highly recommend these.

This product is awesome. I have been waiting since july to purchase. Today I used it with my 2 mo. old and he loved it. No leaking. A little heavy but it is compact. I will be buying more.

I just had my third baby and have been using the original Avent bottles with Mam nipples and Tommee Tippee anti-colic bottles (unsatisfactorily as they either leak or do not vent properly despite following the instructions). I had used other brands (Born Free, Mam etc) with my older children but none really were great. I like the Medela bottle that came with the pump (no leak, no venting issue, though I am just not a narrow neck bottle person) and was going to buy more of these until I spotted the new Avent bottle. This one is a winner, why didn't they think of it before. So easy to wash as there are minimal parts. And no leaking, no venting issue, microwave friendly (if you only heat the glass bottle). Fantastic design. I went back and bought 8 bottles and more nipples. Well done Avent.
