The Britax Pavilion 70 G3 Convertible Car Seat - Calgary accommodates children rear facing from 5 to 40 pounds and forward facing from 20 to 70 pounds. Base with SafeCell Technology designed to compress in a crash, significantly lowering the center of gravity and counteracting the forward rotation of the child seat. Integrated Steel Bars strengthen the connection to the vehicle and reduce forward flexing of the child seat during a crash. Energy Absorbing Versa-Tether features a two-point attachment and staged-release tether webbing to slow the forward movement and reduce the crash forces reaching the child. HUGS Chest Pads with SafeCell Technology are affixed to the seat shell to ensure proper positioning while SafeCells compress to manage energy and provide resistance to the forward movement of your child in a crash. The Pavilion 70-G3 also incorporates Britax True Side Impact Protection for advanced protection in the most severe types of crashes with an extra layer of energy-absorbing EPP foam that contains the head, neck and body while keeping them ?in true? or aligned. After outgrowing the Graco infant seat, we decided to go with a Britax and realized this was the one for us. It fits PERFECT in our SUV and fits our baby great! it has a semi short shell so I doubt it will last as long as it is intended to (Graco MyRide is higher as well as the Foonf but Graco has shown it has less quality products in my opinion) It is semi difficult to install due to horrible instructions but after trial and error it is really a nice seat. The best thing about it is.... the seat cover! the texture is one that is very easily cleaned unlike the fabrics on ALL the other britax seats. The recline and headrest are easily adjusted with squeezing levers. I really like this seat! and for the price- cant beat it!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

After much research and review, we had decided on this car seat, instead of the Graco Smartseat. Mainly because the Britax brand is known for quality carseats with great safety technology, we also liked that it was a smaller car seat that we thought would fit nicely in my small SUV.
Well, my son hated this car seat! He started screaming everytime i put him in it(He is generally a very happy laid back kid). I think it was because the car seat is on the smaller side, and i think he felt squished. My son was about 10 months old, and he's on the small side, so anyone with a bigger baby might really have some issues with this. I think he also hated the extra plastic part that is on the shoulder strap (the model I bought was actually recalled recently for this), it is rather large, and makes it hard to adjust the straps on his shoulders. My husband also had a really hard time getting his finger into the small hole to release the harness. Another thing I didn't like is that the car seat didn't install well into either of our cars (SUV and Truck). I had to use towels and noodles in both vehicles to get the proper angel for the seat.
Overall, if you have a small car, this still might be the seat for you. I still feel this is probably the best car seat from a safety stand point. But if you have a bigger kid, or a fussy kid, I would not suggest this car seat! We ended up returning this car seat and buying the Graco Smartseat. We love the Graco one! (I'm going to write a review on that car seat too).

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Britax Pavilion 70 G3 Convertible Car Seat - Calgary:

This seat was very quick and easy to install with the latch system. It was rather irritating that the installation instructions tried to confuse the issue of front or rear facing installation based on the childs age and size. For clairification, any child under two years of age should ride rear facing, and they should continue to ride rear facing until it is not feasable due to weight or height restrictions of the car seat are met. Children are the safest in the rear facing position. The other issue is the language that seems to come across as a requirement that the "patented" Britax Tether system be used in both FF and RF configurations. The tether system if used in the rear facing position will cause interference with getting the child in and out of the seat without loosening and removing it each time for child entry and removal from the seat. This is because in the instructions they indicate that the Tether straps be wrapped around either side of the seat and attached to the tether point in the rear of the vehicle, which is almost always behind or on the seat back of the seat. The other option is if the vehicle has a tether point located under a front seat or under a floor mat in the rear floorboard. (Please show me a car that has that?) This almost caused the wife to return the seat, but upon further search for information she learned that it wasn't necessary but a recommendation from Britax and there were some other options for installing the tether rear facing that didn't require a tether point, but instead utilized a hard attach point in the vehicle. There are almost no other convertible car seat manufactures that require or approve of the tether feature in the rear facing configuration. For the poor language and tether instruction used in the instructions they loose a star.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
