Product Description

CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.

When completed in 1973, the Willis Tower was the world's tallest building at 110 stories. Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, Illinois, USA, the striking Willis Tower was the first skyscraper to use an innovative "bundled-tubular" design, which, as well as giving it a characteristic step-back appearance, also provides stability against high winds. Willis Tower also features some of the fastest double-decker express elevators, traveling to the 'sky lobbies' at a rapid 1,600 feet per minute. This LEGO Landmark series interpretation of Willis Tower was designed by US architect Adam Reed Tucker in collaboration with the LEGO design team.

To be able to understand why LEGO has been successful for so long, just look to the name. LEGO originally got its name from founder Ole Kirk Christiansen who combed the Danish words "Leg Got" which means "play well". He later realized that LEGO in Latin translates to "I put together." The LEGO set became a standard of creative play for children worldwide, unlocking the creativity to build vehicles, buildings, cities and more. Historians point to the invention of the wheel as a major turning point in world history. The invention of the LEGO wheel had the same monumental effect in the history of LEGO, making it possible to create cars, trucks and eventually the LEGO train building set that is one of the most successful LEGO sets of all time. LEGO currently produces about 20 billion LEGO bricks a year and has sold over 400 billion LEGOs in their history -- enough for every person on the planet to have over 60 LEGOs each!

This is my 11th Model I have built in the fantastic Lego Architecture range. Willis Tower containing only 69 pieces is not the most challenging to build but great looking! I managed to bag this model at a much cheaper price than the Lego registered retail price. Therefore, for some, it was okay in terms of value for money. I am a big fan of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill Architects who have designed many Supertall buildings around the globe. This model is right up my street! Just 2 bags of bricks in the usual quality Lego box with booklet containing facts about Willis Tower and step by step instructions to build it. The finished article goes lovely with the ever growing range of Architecture buildings I have. Well done, Lego, keep them coming!

Tallest U.S.A. Building!

By CloneMarshalCommanderCody

Comments about LEGO Architecture - Willis Tower (21000):

I think this is my favorite architecture set. I have been to the real one, and I think this set does it justice. The reason why I said it has so little playability is because it is a display set. How can you play with a set that has no minifigures and just looks like a famous building? That being said, it is still a very good set. It serves its purpose. The build is simple since it is only stacking normal LEGO bricks on top of one another with a few other pieces. The price is very good. I got this set when it was still the Sears Tower.

Comments about LEGO Architecture - Willis Tower (21000):

This is a set a lot better than it may look, only having 69 pieces, it can always have a special memory or just a nice desk-top item. I love the small architecture sets because its a good way to start off your LEGO fan collections and such. I definitely support if you buy this set!

Looks Great on the Shelf

By Terrytat

from West Covina

Comments about LEGO Architecture - Willis Tower (21000):

I have mixed feelings about the Willis Tower. It looks great when on display, especially when the angles are emphasized by a light. However, it was way too easy of a build for anyone over the age of 6 or 7 years old; it took me longer to organize the pieces by size than it did to build the entire tower from base all the way to antennae. It was overpriced at $19.99 for only 69 pieces. A price of $10.95-$11.95 would be much more reasonable. In spite of these negative factors, I very much enjoyed making it and certainly will incorporate it into my LEGO City if I can find enough room to spread my creations out properly to look like a true metropolis. :)

Comments about LEGO Architecture - Willis Tower (21000):

This was a fun set to put together one night while the kids were sitting nearby watching a movie. I cannot imagine this being anyone's favorite set, but, honestly, I also cannot imagine someone not having a good time assembling it.

it's a nice model

By bugattiepicness

Comments about LEGO Architecture - Willis Tower (21000):

it's a really nice model to display in your room or anywhere in your house. It's not meant for playing with, but you can use it as a background structure when you play with your mini figures. That's what I do sometimes. Overall it's an excellent set and easy to build one of the easiest I have built in a long time. I recommend it's a awesome set get it when you have the chance.
