poor quality. when i took it out of the box, there was a rattling sound inside the telescope itself. reached inside the body of the telescope and found screws and other parts. manual is horrible. says to remove insulation from battery (see figure 1). Problem is, there is no figure 1. DON'T BUY THIS!!!!

Telescope not so great. Instructions were bad and difficult to use. Lens do not work at all.

My mother purchased this telescope for my 8 year-old son. No, I would not have made the purchase myself, but since it was a gift I wasn't going to complain. Initially I didn't expect much from a toy store telescope. However, I was surprised with the product.

In no way can an elementary school kid use the scope on her/his own. And even for an adult it requires some knowledge of telescopes. I would recommend that you give your kids something to play with while you're spotting and focussing on objects. At first it will take some practice focusing on objects.

On the first night, my wife and I used the telescope to get familiarized with it. Also, the spotting scope does not come calibrated. Save yourself some headaches and calibrate it by spotting a tree or any large object before aiming at the sky. This will make spotting smaller objects in the sky a breeze.

The following night, after some practice, we let the kids view through the scope. On a lit suburban street we had no problem spotting large craters on the moon (mostly along the rim of the moon) and Jupiter with 5 of its moons. Even with the entry level eye pieces that came with the scope, we were able to subtly see the stripes on Jupiter's atmosphere. Perhaps, in better darkness, the colors would look better.

The largest drawbacks were that the adjustment knobs hit the scope and with no counter balance, the scope shakes a lot with moderate winds.

I purchased a telescope two years ago for my son at tru and it was great. WOW has toys r us gone down hill.

oh man.. I bought this for my 8 year old son for christmas, he got all excited and he couldn't see anything I thought I was doing something wrong, but NO.. I just hate the fact I didn't return it because I had lost the receipt.. I could of invested that money in something else.. I'm not buying toys from toys R Us again. I'm sorry but the toys are too pricy that don't even work.. This product can go to a planet where the sun doesn't shine!! point blank.

Bought this for my daughter for christmas. Cannot see anything. Used all 3 lenses and still cannot see anything. Looked online for help, maybe we don't know what we are doing. No help online, just other people with the same problem as us. Big disappointment. No longer have the box or I would return.

I bought this telescope for my daughter for Christmas. After using it for about five minutes I knew I had made a BAD choice. The magnification was horrible and it was nearly impossible to get any kind of clear focus. When looking at the moon for example, I couldn't see much more detail looking through the telescope than I could see with the naked eye from my porch, needless to say I returned it the next day.

i thought you could really see the craters on the mooon but that was a big flop and forget about the stars.

We bought this telescope for our 9yr old son for Christmas on sale. We have no disappointments here. It does take practice and patience which is something we all need to practice daily, right. We were able to find the moon and find many of the craters listed on the moon guide. Great "old time" fun.
