The Ameda Manual Breast Pump is an excellent choice for mothers who pump their breast milk no more than once a day. Its ergonomic design reduces hand fatigue and lets mom adjust for wrist comfort. Use quick and light squeezes first, and slow and strong squeezes once milk flows. The convenient lunch-style tote helps keep mom organized and is great when on-the-go.

I used a double electric Ameda pump while my daughter and I were in the hospital. She was in an incubator for a while so I had to pump. When discharged, the nurses told me to just keep the manual pump that was included with the electric since they didn't rent pumps and I guess my insurance was already billed for it anyway. When I got home to try it out, I was pleasantly surprised. I got just as much milk as the electric in the same amount of time. Of course, it's not a double like the electric but I like being able to have one hand free. Follow the instructions- start with fast and short pumps, and then go into longer slower pumps. I'm very happy with this manual pump

In a bind, it will work, but not useful when trying to keep up with full meals for your child. I'm a working mom and I had to ditch the Ameda electric pump given to me by my insurance and the Ameda hand pump and splurge and by the Medela electric pump in order to produce enough to sustain my child. The Ameda products unfortunately just don't cut it. As far as hand pumps go, this exhausts your hand. In order to get a full 3-4 oz from each breast like the Medela will produce, you'd have to work very hard, exhaust yourself, and take a lot of time with this product. But if you just need to take a little off the top or don't have a means to use the electric pump (even though they have battery packs) then I guess this will get the job done, but I would not suggest this as your main means of pumping. You'll never be able to keep up with your child's needs.

It is completely different than a electric pump. It was a lot harder to get a good flow going. However, for the price you cannot beat!

Useful in a pinch
from Lexington, KY
This item is a little difficult to snap together and take apart for cleaning. It is also very tiring to use (as any handpump would be) however it is great to have around in a pinch. I love it for car trips because it is easy to use without having to use a car adapter and set up all the cords and tubes for my electric pump. I also find that I can better imitate my baby's ducking patterns, and I tend to get more milk than I do with the electric.

I bought this to replace my older model hand pump. I find it works just as well as the electric one and better than the old model hand pump!

Don't wast your money
By First time mommma
I revived this pump through my insurance, and figured it must be goodsince it has decent reviews rightjQuery18208491556507069618_1441198195735? WRONG! The first month it was okay, then the suction wore out. I don't know how that happens. I plugged it into wall rather than batteries, I purchased new replacement pieces nothing. This pump completely decreased my milk supply. Next pregnancy i will invest in a more expensive one... Price wise it may put a dent in your pocket, but it will be worth it!

I use this pump at night or when I'm out and my breasts are aching. It's not as efficient as an electric pump but it gives me the relieve I need. Usually takes 15 min to get 2 oz of milk.
not worth it, even on sale
Having the Ameda Purely Yours electric pump, I was expecting to be happy with their manual pump. I had to use it as I was away from home for the day w/o access to an outlet to use my electric pump. It's easy to figure out how to use but has just about NO suction. I realize manual pumps are not as good as electric, but this one barely did anything. I had better luck w/hand expressing my milk.

This BREAST PUMP is very easy to use. I like this quality

About Me First Time Parent, Working Parent
This hand held pump is easy to use. The squeezing mechanism is gentle on your grip and hands. It is a bit squeaky, if you're trying to pump and nurse at night at the same time. Pulling strength is not as strong as an electric pump, just in case you were expecting that kind of strength.

Easy to clean, works well
from Washington DC
Works well, very good product to supplement my other pumps. I also have the Medela manual pump and ameda purely yours electric pump. This is much easier to clean and easier to pump one handed than the Medela. Also I like how the parts are enterchangable wih the purely yours electric pump so it means fewer dishes to keep it sanitary between uses. One side comment is that it doesn't feel as sturdy as the Medela, but after a month of use multiple times a day I haven't noticed any wear. The carrying case is large enough to hold two sets of flanges so I can pump more than once per outing with clean parts.

This device could have more suction as compared to other manual pumps I have used in the past.
