We bought one of these microscopes 5+ years ago, and it still works great. It's so inexpensive that I can let the kids play and investigate freely, but it works well enough to view sets of prepared slides we buy from the science supply store. It's usually easiest for me to set the magnification and position of the slide using the viewer, and then look through the eyepieces. If all you see is a white blur, try moving the slide around - realize that the image is mirrored, so moving the slide to the right moves the image to the left.

This product was not the cheapest or most expensive, but price doesnt matter, it is not worth a darn. A microscope should focus on very small details, this one focused on nothing at all. Everything we tried was a whited out blurry mess. The screen viewer actually worked better than the eyepiece, but even that was blurry and not well lit. Dont bother with this, it was a letdown for me and my child.

I wish I would have reviewed prior to buying for our daughter. No matter what setting we turned the microscope to, the only thing you can see is a blurred, white screen. At first I thought that was what the specimen looked like but when looking at the slide, it had completely different colors. And it always stayed the same no matter what slide we placed in it.

This microscope is not expensive but not even worth the discount price. We were unable to focus the scope on any magnification and the viewer was fuzzy and grainy.

My son was SO excited to receive this as a gift. First thing he wanted to open. TERRIBLE product. Read reviews of the other ones(blue and red). DOES NOT focus on anything, and the projected viewer is made from frosted plastic-which means you can't get a clear image on it either. There is no way to adjust the aperture(how much light comes through)! The LED is blinding. Seriously, my son and I both were seeing spots and felt like our eyes were burning(watering a LOT). It's really a shame that ToysRUs still sells this brand's microscope. Clearly from all the reviews, the 5 good ones don't make up for 30+ negative ones. My son was quite lucky in that we had a high school grade microscope from about 20 years ago that we were able to clean up and use. We used the slides that came with this piece of plastic junk because we didn't receive a gift receipt. PLEASE DO NOT BUY! or make sure you keep the receipt to return. Be careful with your child's eyes!!

It looks like it would work pefecty fine, but it does not work at all. When you put a slide in the microscope and you look in the eye piece, all you would see is white light. We ajusted it every way possible, but it still would not work. We were very disappointed with this product.
